    Good evening Ed. Late getting back in. Finished mowing the 1st section of pasture tonight. Came in and ate supper and watched your other video. WE got hay this morning and I asked Gary about his baler. It is a Hesston and he said that they are the best for the big squares. His bales are 3 ft x 34 inches. You were right. They are smaller than yours. He sure makes nice bales with his too.

      Good evening Gary.
      So a "3x3".. I've hauled some of them, nice solid bales. Only 4 string, so really need to have all the knotters working good..

      More work scrounging up material and getting around all the 💩 in the way.. but mostly done 👍
      Waiting for a couple of rings to make a driveline shield with, hopefully have them tomorrow..
      Should have just cut them out myself... But already asked my friend to do it, I'm sure they're done, but he won't be at the shop until tomorrow..
      Take care and have a good day 👍

    I took those crop lifters off of my machine after watching one lonely farmer he called it engineered obsolescence he said they decrease the life of your gearbox and I do know on start up now I don’t have any rumbling and shaking like I used to with those crop lifters I can really say they don’t make a bit of difference on my machine but I’ve got the 9 foot cut my suspension springs actually make a big difference we’re on your larger mower they don’t seem to work to adjust height quite the same as mine do real educational watching it when you’re working on the mower thanks for the video. And I love the video with your daughter out with a cow stampeding through the field I didn’t know Herford’s could actually move fast. Good thing for the smoke detector helpful happy fourth of July. Those modified shoes now they’re probably gonna wear a lot faster don’t you think now gonna have a lot more ground contact?

    • @GosselinFarmsEdGosselin
      @GosselinFarmsEdGosselin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting.. I've heard people say the machine doesn't work well without the lifters.. I don't think our first JD had them, but the flail conditioner was so close to the cutter bar, the crop didn't need to be lifted.. we had a lot more wear on the turtles and knife bolts though.
      The second JD had them, the flail conditioner was also higher and back farther.
      I'm not sure why they don't do like on swathers, no springs.. our swather has hydraulic cylinders for the ground pressure.. a gage and switch in the cab to control it.
      But if you get it set too light the header bounces all over.. same as the springs do.. the head is only supposed to have enough weight on the shoes to keep it from bouncing around. With the looks of the shoes on ours, I'd say it's been set about right, 13 seasons on them in some pretty rough conditions.
      Thank you Ray, I'm glad it's educational, we can learn together 👍😁😂😆 always learning.. learned quite a bit from your videos and comments.
      Ty surprised me, I figured a few minutes of video... Tot a whole one, but it worked out well.
      Happy Independence Day 🇺🇸🇺🇸

    I have the caseih version of that mower. It is outrageous how much they want for the the higher cutting shoes. That's a nice mod you're making there. Keep us updated on how well it works Ed. My mower has the flails conditioner like you had mentioned in a previous video. Have a good 4th Ed and family.

    • @GosselinFarmsEdGosselin
      @GosselinFarmsEdGosselin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice 👍 and I'm sure you love the flail conditioner.. I'm hoping, with what we've done, that dry time is cut in half, as it should be.

      @@GosselinFarmsEdGosselin yes I like the flails very much. I am glad I decided to go with them. In my area there not that popular, so the mower was a little cheaper.

    We get 50s in winter only once we get into February we are in the 70s and it only gets hotter. That temp sound wonderful right about now. You did a nice modification on your shoe's, hope they work out for you.

      Acclimation.. -20 or +100 can both be not too uncomfortable, if you are acclimated to it.
      New Holland says to change all of them, either the 3"cut or the 7"cut..
      Only reason I did 2 at the ends, is they're not very big, a little more surface area should be good.
      Thank you! Happy independence day!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

      We've pretty much done everything to keep material from wrapping up around the shaft, so far, nothing else has worked... Definitely doesn't make sense to drop the cutter bar driveline every 20-30 acres to dig it out before it takes the gearbox seal out.. especially when it's a machine that can cut 100acres a day 🙄
      Really shouldn't wrap doing a thousand acres..
      Thank you!! Hopefully this one works!

And the really wild temp.swimgs begin for y'all 😳😳 They were calling for 1-2 inches of rain, 98% and we got zero...That's been the norm here for 2 months plus...Hope you have had a great weekend and have a great fourth tomorrow!! The fan club!🤣👌 Those shoes look like they will do the trick. When you cut, do you tilt the head all the way down or keep the pin in the upper position? Wow didn't expect those lifters to be that expensive!

    • @piperdoug428
      @piperdoug428 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They're in pairs, so $196 cdn per pair. Still robbery for what they are

      @GosselinFarmsEdGosselin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Love my fans! Especially on a hot day 😁
      Depends on the condition of the crop, lodged, tilt down to get it, otherwise tipped up.. when we put it down, we roll it back.. rather than locking it back. Just in case it needs to tip forward.
      I looked on discbine doctor website, found them much cheaper.. $78 per disc, 2 lifter and the bolts....
