What is it that is so mesmerizing about Siouxsie Sioux? Seen her live and I couldn't take my eyes off her. A truly amazing performer and voice in rock!
i know what you mean saw her in 1990s she was magical and performed with a broken ankle at oxford Apollo she wore a long yellow evening gown and didnt shave her armpits ! sorry i just remember that !
I would sell my soul to just go back in time and see such a show live.. These days, people watch live shows with their smartphones.. It seemed so much more real back then. Siouxsie gave every show her heart. She sang her here heart out!!
I saw her in Nashville back in 91...It was like a religious experience, combined with pure Goth glam and a near psychedelic-Burlesque revelry and reverie...
@@stephennewby5060 I still clearly remember my disappointment in 1983 when I bought this and discovered John McGeoch wasn't on it. At least, now with the internet, you can find some good McGeoch concerts. Robert Smith is a perfectly adequate guitarist, but even he admitted he struggled with some of McGeoch's parts which will be why he strummed through the mini-solo thing around the second verse. I don't know why they didn't get McGeoch back later when he had straightened himself out - the McGeoch era SATB was their peak.....
I was watching Robert Smiths attempt at the double stop mid section hammer-ons and to see if I could get clues on how to approach it. He simply avoided it.
OMG this takes me back. I was in the stalls, to the left of the stage. My glasses flew off my face from the pogoing...I dived over the barrier to get 'em back and was lifted out by my ankles by security. LOL happy days.
😂 You got off lightly, security were always on their toes and heavy handed back in the day. Kids then had a ton more fire in their belly and an anarchic edge to their game compared to todays Taylor Swifties 😂
I'm sorry to the hardcore old school fans but this is the best live version I've heard of this song. Robert just knows how to serve the song. The whole performance and recording is top notch
Just started listening to this band and they're already one of my favorites. This song is so damn hypnotic. And Siouxsie's voice is so unreal and hard to define; it's loud but intimate, melodic, exotic and pretty all rolled into one. Oh yeah, and they were amazing live.
Great! I saw Siouxie & The Banshees alive at their first time in Rio de Janeiro, november 1986, I was 24 and it was one of the best gigs I saw in my whole life.
First live band I ever saw, Leicester De Monfort Hall, absolutely mesmerising, second band Sisters Of Mercy, Royal Albert Hall, 1984. So lucky was I to have been a teenager in the Eighties.
And now we're tragic old farts...altho this song is pretty much guaranteed to win Stereo Wars - I think my neighbours have given up trying now. I saw the banshees a couple of years later (88?89) and they were boss. My first live gig was The Damned...amazed I survived it!
Shattered fragments of the past Meet in veins on the stained glass Like the lifeline in your palm Red and green reflects the scene Of a long forgotten dream There were princes and there were kings...
My god, where have I been all these years? This band knows how to accomplish that beautifully melodic sound that I'm so attracted to in music. It's so hard to describe in words, but all I know is that it's a sound many musicians these days either can't accomplish or don't want to. What an absolute gem this band is.
Hitched a lift from Leeds to see this gig with four mates. Got soaked all day, waiting to get into the Royal Albert Hall. (The great) Fad Gadget to warm up. Stravinsky's Rites of Spring to introduce the band, and then...there she was! Burned into my mind forever! "Punk and Circumstance!". Happy days.
Epic song .. one of the songs of the last century ... this phase with Robert Smith is unique and one of the most important in the music of 80's. My opinion ...
If she was piped through auto-tune, her foot would probably go through the device. Bended notes have their place. If not, why are there whammy bars on a guitar and a note bender on many types of keyboards.
This is the first version of Israel I ever heard back in 1985 - Robert Smith doesn't do that mad McGeoch guitar bit after the second verse but I was more of a Cure fan at that time : )
+Bryan King Lucky, I wasn't born around the times everything started up. What I'd give to see the original trio live. The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Bauhaus. It really is great to see how far everything has come from then.
Ventro69 Are you some random emo kid or elitist? It is universally known that they Are some of the original Goth abnds. There isn't a Goth alive who is well educated on subcultural history that would say otherwise.
ví o show deles em SP, lembro que tocaram "Israel" porque o público insistiu. Lembro que eles voltaram para o bis e ela disse que não costumavam tocar essa música! Foi um show inesquecível
@VlogKing - Brilliant. Thanks matey. I checked out Untiedundone, and low and behold the whole concert was uploaded!! I was a wee sprat of 16yrs at the time and a bit overwhelmed by the whole experience so forgot all those other juicy bits you quoted but that one line "Bring me the head of the bouncer" sent shivers down my spine and stuck! Great to hear it again. Many Thanks :)
One of the best live intros ever. Israel with Siouxsie and the Banshees is a simply amazing song!
Gentle Giant!
Siouxsie and Robert Smith on the same stage doing that song ...... HOLY HELL !!! That was so haunting !
ledsith you can his influence on the song. 👍🏽
John McGeoch wrote the guitar to this and seems to have heavily influenced Smith. Unsung axe hero gone too soon.
Don't forget The Sisters of Mercy...
Robert Smith also front man of the Cure gladly served as Siouxsie Q's guitarist when she needed him.
Joker Supporter what’s Billie Eilish got to do with this?
Budgie is, and has always been, an amazingly unique and talented drummer.
Feeling some jazz swing in his playing

+Joe Minicilli OK

C'est déjà cela, se souvenir d'un plaisir.......
The eyes
Ok boomer
I was there, aged 16. Siouxsie was my heroine.
I was there too
I would sell my soul to just go back in time and see such a show live.. These days, people watch live shows with their smartphones.. It seemed so much more real back then. Siouxsie gave every show her heart. She sang her here heart out!!
I would ask fans no mobile photography during concert please. ☺️
Totally!
Saw them live back in the 80's. This is a memory you will not forget.
I saw her in Nashville back in 91...It was like a religious experience, combined with pure Goth glam and a near psychedelic-Burlesque revelry and reverie...
Simply sublime. Robert Smith at the guitar makes my skin goose-pumped.
you mean Robert smith mimicking john mcgeoch
Pumped? Lol

The King and Queen of Goth Robert and Souxie! Epic Duo!

Like a goth version of Grace Slick from Jefferson Airplane.
No. Luckily not.
you never seen her live dreamer
YES NICE SONG
Check The Cure out. That's their founder, vocalist and leader on guitar in this video.
SIOUXSIE IS THE QUEEN OF FEMALE SINGERS!
She won't like that title, she likes to be rated as a singer rather than male or female ie best singer.
Sioux Banshees Why? Because of the bad words in some of the songs?
@@siouxbanshee2427 Lydia Lunch is up there with Siouxsie
Nico?
Eargasm and eyegasm.
My all time favourite Siouxsie and the Banshees song. I think I openly cried when they played this in Dallas in the early '80s.
The best Siouxsie song ever, PERIOD!
I'm between this one and Spellbound.
Gen X girls will always have a Siuoxie soul.🖤❤A big fun from early 80th Israel. The song have so much meaning to me.
This track is 40 today - man I feel old but still happy listening to these gems
siouxie + robert smith, cant ask for more!!!

That amazing bass sound!
Absolutely amazing, just as I remember it. Oh how I long for the late seventies, early eighties. Anyone care to join me!
Shattered fragments of the past
Meet in veins on the stained glass
Like the lifeline in your palm
Red and green reflects the scene
Of a long forgotten dream

Yes! Someone sees the light. This band is on a level of uniqueness that no other bands can reach 🖤 ✨
I AM 43 AND I STILL LISTEN TO HER .... A GODDESS !!!
Hitched a lift from Leeds to see this gig with four mates. Got soaked all day, waiting to get into the Royal Albert Hall.

Stravinsky's Rites of Spring to introduce the band, and then...there she was!

See kids? This is how an icon starts a show....
Una joya 💎 ...
Hermosa original fantástica !!! Etc cc 🙏🏽🙏🏽💋🌹🇪🇦✨✨🧚🏽♀️💓
Siouxsie et Robert Smith des Cure à la guitare c'est un bijou musical, combien les 80's me manquent ❤️😍
Epic song .. one of the songs of the last century ... this phase with Robert Smith is unique and one of the most important in the music of 80's. My opinion ...

Greatest smash for your ears if you want to..Soiuxie at her best...Love it! Listening since 30 years to that stunning voice! Amazing....always....
Je ne m'en lasse pas ! Que de souvenirs, une voix inimitable, vue en Belgique à l'époque, un régal...
Yo tengo mi propia diva de la oscuridad...mi pricesa nocturna, mi Jocelyn 💖🌹
Y yo a mi Vampiro inigualable ❤ te amo
What a wonderfully distorted voice Siouxsie has.
In mouring...
THIS is how a "Live" performance is done. No lip-syncing or auto-tune like the vast majority of modern female singers
A webo!!! Pobres de las nuevas generaciones
Shame ob the new reggaeton generatios jajaajjajajja
Exactly! And live instrumentals too, some people people just play the instrumentals pre recorded :/
If she was piped through auto-tune, her foot would probably go through the device. Bended notes have their place. If not, why are there whammy bars on a guitar and a note bender on many types of keyboards.
Shirley Manson can still put it up
My absolute fav female singer of all time. She is timeless
1 of them for sure. But Nico deserve the 1st spot.
This performance is powerful, the crowd with amazing energy, and Siouxsie looking and sounding exquisite. Perfect.
Absolutely fantástic, nostalgic!! Thanks
for share!!
Some sounds of the past don't stay hidden or forgotten there, they are destined to travel through time blessing the future.
Brings back so much memories. What a voice! No autotune no playback.
La musica della mia giovinezza....Siouxie, Roby Smith, Ian Curtis... e molti altri che fecero della FANTASTICA musica!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

+Aligor Zeimet "original trio" wtf you on aboot?
Ventro69
The three original most well known Goth bands. The ones that jump started everything.
Lol. Cure and the Banshees are not goth. You American kids that were born in the 90's are funny.
