I was a Designated Marksman for my Army Unit on my last tour in Iraq (2007-2008), Most any rifle can be a DMR with a little work. Your standard Infantry guy is trained to shoot out to 300 meters and snipers out to 1000+ meters so the DMR fills the gap, most units when I was still in were just upgrading battle rifles to fill the role, so I carried an M16A4-DMR in 5.56mm upgraded barrel and trigger group and then we had a few M14s that we slowly being upgraded to the M14-EBR. But generally for a DMR you want an accurized semi-automatic capable of shooting out to 800 meters.
I believe we’ve already told you what makes a DMR. A DMR is designed to cover the range a “regular” rifle can’t consistently reach. “Although the "sniper" and the "designated marksman" are distinguished by mission and deployment role, rather than by operational range, the DM's(Designated Marksmen) role generally fills the engagement range gap (300-600 meters) between a regular infantryman and a dedicated sniper. DMRs are developed with the mindset to fulfil this middle ground in tactical role.”
In the military the dmr is usually a 5.56 or 7.62 are platform. The dmr stands for designated marksmen rifle usually given to one of the better shooters in the platoon. It's not ment to be a really long range precision set up for sniper engagements out to 1000s but really for more of a 6 to 800 yard range.
a dmr is a weapon that allows for the standard rifleman to become a sniper dmrs are usually designed to shoot at 300-600m but the svd can shoot beyond that range as it fires a 7.62x54r round (same round used in a Mosin Nagant) wich is larger than the typical .308 winchester (rimless) and is about 5ft from stock to muzzle
DMR usually about range, but also a balance of fire rate can be a factor and ammo type too. I during Afghanistan war the UK found that they had lowered their sniper numbers thinking they had less value in modern warfare, but obviously found them highly effective there. The other thing that was found was that troops often came into contracts with enemy combatants outside of the SA80a2's effective range of 600m so they brought in the L129A1 Sharpshooter rifle to act as their DMR rifle to fill the slot between SA80 and sniper rifle. Might often find spotter using the DMR too.
Army squad designated marksman (82nd Abn in my case ) typically used an M16A2 with a 20” barrel and the A4 stock (the solid, non collapsible one) along with a variety of optics, although primarily an ACOG (various models) since DM range is generally 300 - 600 meters. That said, an M4 is still effective at 300 meters so it often came down to the best probability of hit, ideally a first round hit. However, at those ranges in reality it quite often ended up with both sides shooting at one another until air support, artillery, mortars or nukes solved the problem. Or it was prayer time, whichever came first.
Typically (U.S military) a DMR is a larger caliber weapon with better optics than the regular infantry rifles, and the user receives more specialized training in the use of a DMR and their used for the slightly longer ranges, say 600-1000 meters, they bridge the gap between infantry and full on sniper weapon systems
DMR= less range and damage but faster fire rate. That’s about it when it comes to the game. Sniper rifle= higher damage so more likely a one hit kill but fires more slowly.
I think the difference between the DMR's and Snipers is what role they're designed to fill (medium to long range... Longer than assault rifles (and generally more accurate) but less range and power than a full sniper. The main things I noticed (other than having less range and damage than snipers) is they also tend to have more bullet drop, slower bullet speeds, and a much faster rate of fire. Basically they're the love-child of an assault rifle and a sniper finding their sweet spot in the middle.
Saw plenty of these random explosions today in the game, and my friend turned invisible. On my screen he was stuck on a ladder but at the same time a car without a driver drove next to me and my friend said hop in. Didn't bother with the faction missions cause it said in the mission discription that you get no skell credits only XP.
A DMR is 7.62X39 caliber and not the more powerful .338 Lapua which is the caliber most often used by snipers. It doesn't have the accuracy and range the .338 has. That's why it is used as an intermediate "sniper" weapon in most squads which use the even less powerful 5.56 Assault weapons as the standard.
Pretty sure the difference between a Sniper's Rifle and a DMR is the standard accuracy at a given range at which that rifle can hit consistently. The rifle should be classified from testing
I can't seem to get away from using the Recon-A1 with dual sights. Its too convenient to be able to snipe and use in closer situations with the click of a button.
Dmr's are pretty good in general , the only issue I have with them is the lack of variety you can get and now with this whole dmr glitch in pvp it kinda kills the gameplay experince
A sniper rifle is not a class of weapon. "Sniper" is a military qualification, something you have to go to a special school to earn. Therefore, a sniper rifle is whatever rifle a qualified sniper is using. A DMR (designated marksman rifle) is a typical assault or battle rifle that has a scope on it and sometimes a longer barrel, bipod, free float handguard or special ammunition. It can be used by anyone in the unit that the Lt. or Sgt. hands it to. Whoever gets the DMR becomes the DM. It is meant to supplement a regular squad or platoon by giving them the ability to engage targets at distances slightly longer than the regular issued weapons are good for. It is a middle ground weapon between assault rifles and what a sniper is capable of with his specialized rifle. The biggest difference between DMR's and a dedicated snipers rifle is that DMR's will ALWAYS be semi-auto whereas a snipers rifle can be semi-auto or bolt action. www.quora.com/What-is-a-DMR-and-why-isnt-it-a-Sniper-Rifle
This games weapon stats confuse me because I have the arx200 ASR with much better accuracy and range stats than the svd. So theoretically the ASR is better than most stock in game snipers 🤷🏻♂️
Terence Probert that is good I been playing it since release not full time due to work and bodybuilding commitments and I’m around 200 so u sir have put in some nice work.
what pisses me off more than anything the A I always knows where you are even sniping from distance they spawn behind you even if you cleared an area, they jump through wire fences where we have to use the breaching tool, they'll even jump over a wide ravine like fucking superman, fucking ubisoft needs to sort this shit out ffs
WillyB the reason it wasnt as powerful as when u 1st started using it, is that believe it or not, just like in wildlands u do more damage when your in stealth, ur more likely to get a 1 shot kill in stealth. I get 1 shots with silverstake all the time without headshots except for wolves and heavies. U werent doing as much damage as when u 1st started cuz they got spooked
Blame the equipment. But in reality you couldn't stop yourself from allowing for bullet drop that wasn't there. 50% of your shots went over the targets' heads.

ty for serving and for the information :)
Thank you for your service, and the information was interesting. :)
Thanks for service and info. Fascinating.
Yer that's awesome to know it's shame in-game we never shoot that far as to the enemy not showing more then 400mtrs lol
Thanks for serving cool info

Don't think he reads these...
Also dmr is less damage and higher fire rate unlike snipers but yess what u said
@@chrismrsickfoo9984 hes talking about real life dude, damage aint gonna make much difference
Well Said Jon K

How many knew it was coming when he said “this might be my favorite DMR” haha

Tac50 for wolves and heavies
Scorpio Scout for everyone else
That last mission you needed to talk to villages for intel, the prisoner wasn’t actually there.

A designated marksman rifle is the scoped high-precision weapon system used by modern infantries in the designated marksman role.
Hey Will Bangura. Your gameplay videos are very cool and feels awesome to watch.
I also prefer the mk14 Dmr with the right perks is on par with the svd, but you have the full auto option it’s worth checking if you haven’t done
The SVD is basically a Ak in 7.62x54r. An 7.62x54r is basically 7.62x51

416 shorty gotta try it. No video on it yet. It’s amazing.
Yeah is very nice that and the Sig shorty both very nice
I subbed on your sub count like 50.000 and look at your sub count now... POG.
I love this DMR btw
The mk14 assault can use a suppressor and it one shots everything even if you hit them in the foot. It never leaves me shoulder now.
Love your vids bro can't tell you how many times I have watch them.... But keep it up God bless
U should try the Scorpio scout it's a monster of a DMR one shots at 300 meters and 2 shots if you're further
With your accent it sounded like you're saying "SBD".... Silent But Deadly!
Rotisserie blades😂😂
Will these guns still be good for lower levels
Yes
Why always when im bored best youtuber (Willyb) makes video at the same time
Nice video, keep up the good work!!!
I just came across the A2 shorty in the raid and it is absolutely awesome if you can do that one.

Campus. Unforgettable main mission.
What graphical settings do you use with that 1080ti?

I sniped that camp on the flat roof with the metal shields on see everyone from there
If you sneak going down hills you don't slide.
Nice video, mate!
That range thooo

That m14 assault from the raid is insane, plus you can attach a m203 on it
you need to find intel about the prisoner.
When are you gonna start doing your head to head gun comparisons, free roam videos?
Yes the prisoner you need to ask Fernandez he`ssss Oh someone shot him, I think it was a Sniper!
Sir? Sir? You're awesome.
A dmr has a bigger mag than a sniperand you can spam a Dmr but if you have a sniper jou have to repeat after every shot
had it suppressed 😂
I like how the SVD looks, I just don’t like it..lol
It seems better in FC5.
Redo your Crazy Russian with the AK-47 and the SVD. And the hat with the ear flaps.
Dmr damage glitch

I cannot wait for the coming options to remove gear scores and tiered loot. Never should have been in GR and doesn't belong in a GR game.
Hi dude love ur vids btw can u tell me if this is good,on breakpoint I got to gear score 133 in 2 & a half days
Terence Probert that is good I been playing it since release not full time due to work and bodybuilding commitments and I’m around 200 so u sir have put in some nice work.
Dr roidhammer thx man but I’m not a sir. 😁
Terence Probert apologies 🙏
No problem.btw you’re a very generous man 😁😁 and again btw I am a boy not a sir
what pisses me off more than anything the A I always knows where you are even sniping from distance they spawn behind you even if you cleared an area, they jump through wire fences where we have to use the breaching tool, they'll even jump over a wide ravine like fucking superman, fucking ubisoft needs to sort this shit out ffs
In most cases dmrs have a lower caliber than a sniper
Fantastically do.
🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥
Please use the A2

Use the A2
The missions are not glitched. You are missing something.
this game is like saints row compared to gta
Use fn2000
Scorpio scout = dmr = 127 damage..... enough said.
I’m hear lvl 300
Blame the equipment. But in reality you couldn't stop yourself from allowing for bullet drop that wasn't there. 50% of your shots went over the targets' heads.
A poor Operator blames his equipment and tools.
Snipers are better than dmrs
Easily one of the shittiest guns in the game. He says he likes/loves every single guns he uses. This guy would have made a great used car salesman.
A2
I hate the svd 63’s fire rate it is trashy ass
nicr
NDL
First!!!
I unsubscribe when breakpoint videos stop...
