So many studies have pointed out that christmas have pagan origin and sp does most of Christian festivals, on contrary an indian would name the exact place where diwali was first celebrated and the native traditions, rituals included in it, I challenge you to name a single ritual celebrated on diwali if you people were so eager to learn and appreciate others festivals you should atleast acknowledge their nativity and religious importance.. The first thing an indian or any hindu pictures during Diwali after firecrackers and lights? It's the lord shri Ram and his life story, the first important part pf the celebration of this festival is not fireworks but the prayers or puja that hindus do, I bet that you don't know whom we worship on this day and neither do you know about how many days we celebrate this, the importance of this festival, because just after Diwali we hindus start preparing for the most holy months that are dedicated to lord Shiva.. no American knows the importance of diwali and let alone the reason we celebrate it.. I don't understand your logics either, why would you celebrate a festival without learning it's importance, traditions and the actual way to celebrate it.. if you can't celebrate it properly then there's nothing going to change in your life just by lighting diyas.
