Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries was so amazing. I almost gave up at first bc my ND brain struggled with the academic esque writing, but it picks up very quickly. I loved Emily, could relate a lot, the whole thing was amazing. The wait for the 2nd one is a struggle :')

Emily Wilde reminded me of Katherine Brigg's Encyclopedia of Faeries, an academic text on British folk lore. I was really into folklore back in the day - 40 years ago.

The closest I got to a "cozy" fantasy book was The Hobbit. For some reason, i didn't even considered the idea of cozy fantasy been a thing, I'll be definitely looking for those from now on.

I loved Legends and Lattes so much! And this convinced me to pick up A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking. If you're in the cozy witchy mood I recommend Payback's A Witch by Lana Harper (and the rest of the series). It's super cozy and fairly low stakes, with great representation. The title is a little kitsch and that almost stopped me from reading it but I'm super happy I gave it a shot. It definitely gave me that being wrapped in a warm witchy blanket feeling!

N.Galilea 's books! READ THEM. They explore the women who stood up and showed how PopexFRANCIS gave promotions to priests who covered up abuse of children. It is dark but so inspiring and calls into question why more men are silent about the abuse and men in power being coddled. It is a tribute to milllennials.

If you like, another cozy fantasy recommendation: The House Witch series by Delemhach. It has a will-they-won't-they romance, humorous banter, and funny characters. Highly recommend reading it during your wait for the next Emily Wilde book.
If you like to read something that has a similar dynamic between the main characters: slow burn, banter, bit over-the-top male character, then I recommend Sorcery of Thorns (I wouldn't categorize it as cozy though)...

Hey chris. Great video. Honestly, I wasn't the biggest fan of Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries. It felt to me like a worser knock-off of "A Natural History of Dragons" by Marie Brennan, which I think describes much deeper characters and cultural differencies. Also, the academic world is portrayed much more realistically. I highly recommend it.
