    Sticking on few solar panels, small patch for roof horticulture, along with pretentions of water harvesting doesn't make it a sustainable development. Virtually every material used in construction was produced through excessive energy consumption; plus hardly any evidence of low energy or passive construction to minimise energy usage. Furthermore, the controlled ventilation system seems to rely on air-conditioning rather than harnessing intelligent design to naturally control temperature. Although extensive glazed opening would provide ample natural light, there seems little shutter to shield from intense sunlight in a hot country. Zero consideration for local artchitectural vernacular. One word verdict: PRETENTIOUS.

    As for my 2 cents. The floor plan is acceptable. The colour scheme is muted and I like that except for the odd garish wall. Maybe that bold colour design is a phase Pakistan is going through. With regard to the view from the side of the house, that view will only be there until a house is built next door. Overall, I liked the house. However, what I cannot understand is why there are no professional painters and decorators in Pakistan. This house has quality fittings, expensive area, modern design but then you see overpainted walls. When I see white paint on a black window frame 8t makes my blood boil. Where walls meet marble, there's paint on the marble. WHY?

    • @asfandniazi6381
      @asfandniazi6381 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had the same concern, that they were over selling the views , which will become redundant once someone builds a house next door.

    • @nowheregirl921

      The paint thing bothers me a lot in this house. My home had this issue before. When our home was being finished, my parents were way above their estimated budget and paint was something that had to bear the brunt. So, local daily wage painters that are often sitting in markets were hired to paint over the walls. The result was similar to the paint job here: paint lines over the floor marble, over the door panels, and so on (25:26 the paint lines on the door eeee). A few years ago, we repainted the home and hired good painters that did their job really well. So based on our own personal experience, I think they hired the daily wage painters from the market who were not properly trained for the job here to cut some cost. I don't blame them. House seems really expensive.

    I love the design but the amount of light may need a ton of sunblock to keep your skin safe....besides doesn't this much light fade the upholstery even wood. so privacy aside you still need some curtains.
    Are the modern big windows suitable for our climate?ln old nani Dadi houses they had high roofs,smaller windows bramdas and central courtyards but these days it's hard to get that in 500 SQ feet.moorish style suits our climate and privacy culture but l don't see many designs along those lines.
    Would love to see how house help, laundry etc are fitted in to see how practical a house is.

      A house in Karachi would also be suited for harnessing wind energy

    • @habibuae
      @habibuae 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Banjaiga Yes, I guess many Karachities are full of hot air😋
      In my humble opinion, wind energy for a household may be challenging. Housing in most parts of Karachi has become far too dense. Also, the planning is haphazard at best and mostly illegal such as encroachments due to corruption.
      Having said that, people should be encouraged to use renewables by way of tax or other incentives. New housing schemes should be mandated by law and incentives to be eco-friendly. A carrot along with a whip should do the trick.
      Here's what I would like to see on this channel.
      1 - A house designed to take into account Sinds rich cultural heritage, I'm guessing our forefathers in Mohenjo-Daro lived without air conditioning before right? Maybe wind towers to capture and circulate air throughout the house with low maintenance in terms of dust etc.
      2 - A house designed from the ground up with renewables in mind. Maybe covered entirely with solar panels. Buttonwood is great, but let's face it, solar panels are unsightly. So, if we could build in a manner where solar panels are integrated into the design elements rather than just perched on the roof as an example.
      Once again, thank you for a lovely and informative video.

    The concerns related to large windows are valid. There is no such plantation around the house that can provide the privacy which is actually very much needed ( there are only small plants with little and less dense foliage). So yeah, the views will be gone pretty much as soon as construction starts next door.

    30:20 yar the simple answer to using wood in building infrastructures is its sustainability, which of course we don't care about in Pak. But around the world, like in Downunder, you have sustainable forests, where volume of wood being cut each day is equal to what is being grown.
    Sustainability doesn't mean reusability, contrary to what the lady is trying to imply.

    When we talk about "sustainability" one of the major considerations is economy. The materials used in this house - from the kind of glass and windows used to the ceiling, furniture and the rest of the details, it's nowhere close to being sustainable. It's costly, costly and super costly. Plus the amount of air conditioning required to keep the indoor climate comfortable would be 3x more with those window sizes. This kind of house might do well in the most Northern areas to the North but it would be a pain if it's in regions like Lahore or Peshawar.

      They have used performance glass to keep the temperature normal so there is no meed for so much air conditioning

    The red wall in the kitchen really sucks....as if it's so out of place! The protruding shelf too and the extra door they didn't talk about....so not required.

    Nice house, but sorry to say that you both in video just shows the pros of this house. but sorry i can't see, how this house manage to maintain the fresh and clean air (with out AC, naturally) in side the whole house. There is no ERV/HRV system installed, why? yes I agreed this house uses natural light to lighting the house. but I really want to see that how they used the natural air to cool the whole house and make the inside air fresh and clean.

    Nice house for display purpose,case study of materials and furniture but frankly speaking it is not very practical to pakistani style of living.Functionally speaking the kitchen, laundry,storage spaces are very needed.A family with little kids will not find it a practical place.Yes a family with grown up kids and entertaining life style will make better use of it
