- Hello there friends! San Mama suggested that Dave react to Golden Earring's Radar Love from 1973.
Dave wanted to compare the original with the cover performed by Vito Bratta's White Lion.
He likes both versions a lot, but in the end he does pick a favorite. If this is not your first time here, you may know which way Dave is leaning on this one.

Vito's guitar playing is wayyyy better than a lot of people's playing. His solos are always top notch. The solo in Little Fighter is one of my all time favorites.

Totally agree. This is a prime example of when a cover blows an original away. Might be the best cover ever done by any band, IMO.
Agreed! Cheap Trick did better Don’t Be Cruel by Elvis. Pretty Woman by Van Halen, better than Roy Orbison. 80s synth band Pseudo Echo did a killer remake of Funkytown.
Golden Earring is singing it, and its pretty easy to tell it’s not like the recording. I don’t know what you’re talking about. Anyway, White Lion’s cover is harder, heavier, and better. The Motorcycle noises is perfect for this song. I prefer Mike Tramps vocals, and Vito Bratta definitely improves it with his advanced guitar play.

In Europe all band had to playback in those tv studios.
Not sure what Radar Love is but pretty sure it wasn't about love for Gary Burghoff's character on MASH. Bratta version had better instrumentation, guitar and drums wasn't crazy about how the vocals were recorded on Vito Bratta Version. Too echoey. I guess have to give the edge to Golden Earring though since it was their tune and had more soul to it. The cover seemed to "showmany" to me even though technically better. Here's a spankin' new one for Dave to check from NY Based Heavy Metal band Virgin Steele. Nice interesting guitar and vocal flourishes in this one. As a Dutchy I must respond to this 😅 the White Lion version does sound better except for the vocals, because the definitely suck 😂 But it is pretty easy to make a song better after 16 years, but did White Lion ever make such a popular rememberable song on their own!😉

They also did “when the lady smiles” that was briefly the theme song for Hillary Clinton , at least it was before they discovers the video clip was sexual orietated 😂😂

But I know their body of work and saw them many many times live.
