Looks wonderful, nothing like a fire on a chilly evening!

Vermont makes great stoves! Love Mine! I would run without Catalysis as they are very expensive to replace if they get clogged. Depends on the type of wood you are burning. Look forward to watching more on the channel! Keep up the great work!

Sounds like you have the needed knowledge to safely bring the house up to code and how you want it

Joseph was the MVP! He is so clever! The hearth looks great and the stove so cozy. I think the extra length on the hearth works well with the stone size and am glad you kept it.

Isn't it funny how long we research and as you said, agonize over one part of the project until we finally decide lets just choose one and get it done, and more often than not it turns out just fine! The hearth and stove look great! With all that bracing under there I can't see how that 3/4 plywood will deflect when nearly every stone seems to be under a stud.
Our new place has a Blaze King Ashford 30.2 with a catalyst. It has a bypass door and I start my fires with the bypass open directly to the flue until the catalyst comes up to temperature and then close the bypass and force the exhaust through the catalyst. It seems to be working well so far, but I like your secondary burn chamber.

That area of floor is definitely the most solid in the house!
