Guys, this is the most intuitive review of a Vehicle that I have seen. Full description , thorough description of all the features. Many others Rush through it. My only grip with this Acura Is with all the Stuff, Acura neglected to include a power steering wheel adjustment ??? And you go thru the Touch Pad infotainment system quickly. The same is now in the new 2022 MDX . To tell you the truth, I just tested both cars.. That Touch Pad is a PIA. All Acura had to do was make that screen a touch screen, even better include both abilities.
Thanks for the compliment. We agree that a touch screen would have been a better controller for the infotainment screen. Here’s our video showing how all the stuff in the infotainment system works: th-cam.com/video/_m3pWLSG6UU/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching
You guys are the true automotive O.G.'s. love your videos, Superb descriptions, and chuck full of details. Finally the film footage is clean and clear.👍
I listened to many reviews in the last couple weeks and you guys had the most through review. You both answered all the questions I had in my head. I am looking to buy the 2021 Acura RDX SH-AWD w/technology and advanced package, I sure its the same review, thank you!!!!
I am just a bit confused about the steering wheel adjustments. it has a manual lever tilt/Telescoping steering wheel but when u touch your hand on the drivers side it adjust the mirrors, seats radio and steering wheel. can you please explain this a bit more? i am shocked to see it had a manual lever on the advance package.
Thanks for the question. Camera tricks...we moved the car to a shady location and started filming the right side of the steering wheel. So it may have looked liked it changed when I touched the right side of the wheel, but the touch didn’t cause those changes, it was caused when we moved the vehicle. Thanks for watching!
the camera button right there next to the windshield wipers is really nice. I always have to reach down to the center console to activate it in my current car.
I have no idea why but the RDX I drove did not have a cooled seat option. I just figured this would be a feature on the model I believe was tech package.
Thanks for the comment. The ventilated front seats were not an option with the Technology package but came standard on the A-Spec and Advanced package trim levels. Thanks for watching!
You guys speak directly to me. I just subscribed! Also have been looking for a replacement for my 2012 Genesis, and this RDX has become my leading candidate. Thank you for the great review!
Hi Richard, welcome to the channel. Thanks for subscribing and thanks for the kind words. I own a 2014 MDX with 110k miles and just regular maintenance and no issues. Thanks for watching!
Mine too, I am looking to replace my 2015 Genesis. This is my top contender so far. Waiting to see the GV70 SUV from Genesis due out next year. The larger GV80 should be released by the end of this year.
The GLB is a Great SUV. We didn't actually see it with the 3rd row but I hear its pretty tight. However, if you absolutely must have a 3rd row then go with the GLB. If you can indeed get along without it then go with the RDX. In the end, you won't go wrong with either brand! Thanks for the question and thanks for watching!
RDX does require Premium fuel. Too bad it does not have massage seats. I like the idea of the touch pad as my shoulders don't handle reaching very well for touch screen items. I have to check the specs of my Lincoln MKX as I like its size and not sure if its length is more or less than the 187" of the RDX. Like the Aviator I like the below console storage for wifey's purse. Would certainly have to drive both it and the Aviator (bigger and heavier but more power and regular fuel) but the touch pad is great. I have learned from another commenter to some RDX reviewer that lower octane can be used but to the detriment of power as turbos like the premium octane. In my own case it is not a big issue as we tend to only do about 7K KM per year. While I like the two vehicles mentioned, I still have to decide whether it is worthwhile trading/selling a 2011 Lincoln MKX with only 104K KM which we bought with 61K KM in 2013. As a Limited Edition model it is fully loaded and a great vehicle with small amount of very manageable expense.
Good point regarding the touch pad. I’ve also been told that using a centrally located controller instead of a touch screen is supposed to be safer because you aren’t reaching and taking your eyes off the road. Thanks for watching
@@eleanormassaro5195 thanks for the info. I thought I had remembered correctly but when viewing so many different vehicle reviews it is difficult to remember all the stats. Just can't go out to look at cars right now but depending upon economy and what happens related to C19 I would like to check out the RDX and also check out pricing of the 2019/20 to see if any differences and make sure the two top end vehicles are the same for the 2 years. I would also want to look at the 2021 Nautilus and see if it is a shrunken Aviator but for fewer $. I really like the touch pad of the RDX as with a Rotator Cuff issue it would be easier to manipulate and not have to reach for the touch screen of other vehicles.
Bought one in January. '20 Tech SH-AWD. Lots of problems - most Acura knows about and hasn't fixed. New Control Arms at 700 miles, many body and trim problems. Poor assembly. Confounding electronics. HORRIBLE gas mileage, winter 17MPG, summer averaging 19.5. Seats feel supportive, but on long drives are hard and narrow - and we're small people. The safety system is so hyperactive it's a distraction more than helpful. Leather on seats is all puckered and stretched at 5000 miles/6 mos. So disappointed.
@@TwoGuysandaRide I've had many Honda's and Acura's - all were tough as nails and ran forever with normal maintenance and wear items. It's what I expected again, but cannot believe what an abomination this vehicle is. Read up on it - my problems are not unusual and Acura is aware of them and still releasing them with known defects. Good grief, a compact SUV getting 19MPG with a 10 speed trans? The specs check all the boxes - the execution is an Epic fail.
One of the best features of this car is the lack of big hump in the rear seat floor! No other AWD crossover has this. Good job Acura! I would love to see Acura/Honda put a Civic Type R engine tune option on this car. It would be so much more fun. Or, put a turbo 6 cylinder in.
Coming off 18 years driving Acura, I looked to buy the RDX in 2020. It has a lot of what I call secondary technology, i.e., electronic features which are unnecessary to the operation of the car. I ended up buying a Honda Passport Touring, which matches or exceeds the RDX on core technology, but skips the jukeboc dashboard, which looks like a BMW raped a Seeberg. My deciding comparison in favor of the Passport was that it has the Honda 3.5 liter V-6, which is probably the best engine Honda ever made, as opposed to the turbo-2.0 liter 4 in the RDX, which copies the current trend in high compression, designed to fail ,clockwork engines, popular with makers today. The Passport also saved me about $8,000. Put a reasonable engine in the RDX and carve the price a few thousand and it becomes a very nice car. As is, not so much.
Plus the Passport is a larger vehicle. The RDX is roughly the size of the CRV chassis and the Passport is built off the Pilot chassis. Either way, you bought a Honda product so you can’t go wrong. I moved from a Pilot to a MDX and lm very happy. Enjoy you Passport. Thanks for watching

I love the car but regret my purchase now. IT'S Embarrassing to apply the brake and have it squeal to a stop every single day. I have had my brakes replaced 3 TIMES!!! by Acura and they cannot fix it and they acknowledge it. They gave me a $300 Visa gift card for my inconvenience. Research before you buy the RDX that's all I'm saying
I’m guessing you’ve tried another compound for the brake pads? Some European cars have a loud brake squeal too but many owners change to a secondary brands of a different brake compound Thanks for your comment hopefully some other viewers can offer some suggestions
@@TwoGuysandaRide Hi Sir, I've taken it to the dealer 3 times and they've replaces them because its under warranty. @@vonnell422 Well, so sorry to hear all the issues you are having. I know it's frustrating to have issues that never go away. I drove it. Great car and the best bang for the buck. However, the sad thing is that it is ugly, both inside and out. That big knob in the middle and that horrible thing that separates both front seats is pure idiocy on the part of Acura. The BMW X3 is a better car, better looking, and has far more prestige to it. Well worth spending another $5k on and any additional maintenance cost in the future, although most publications list the BMW as being more reliable so it may come out even if you keep both cars until their end.
