This was a great video. My 7th grader was advised to get this calculator for school. I know he is going to be overwhelmed by all of the buttons. Your video covered the types of calculations he will need it for. This is perfect.
GOD BLESS YOU!!! You make this SO clear and easy to understand! PLEASE DO MORE WITH THE TI30XIIS calculator! Nobody EVER explained all of that to me before! The last time I took a math class was 35 years ago! (And we DIDN'T have calculators THIS confusing... if any!) In my Statistics class (BER345) I think the teacher assumes we understand HOW to use EVERYTHING on this calculator (mentioned above!) PLEASE DO MORE VIDEOS on EVERY SINGLE type of function you can do on this calculator! Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much!!! GOD BLESS YOU!
Thank you for taking the time to make this tutorial video. You have been extremely helpful. Your presentation style and delivery was so easy to follow.
Wow Amazing! I have been trying to find out how to use this for 3 days... You did it in 6 minutes! BRAVO!!! I did not know what these were. I am studying to pass my Math GED and was lost... I missed it by 2 points because I did not know how to use the calculator. Thank you so much. My test is on the 5th of November. I have passed all of the rest .
To do e to the - 7 power find the e^x function (it's the secondary function for Ln) and then put in - 7 (make sure to use the ( - ) and not the subtraction button) OR find the e constant and then use the ^ function and then put -7 (again make sure to use the ( - ) and not the - subtraction button)
Sven: The calculator does not have a generic Log function. It has two fixed based log functions: Log, which is log base 10, and Ln, which is log base e. If you want to evaluate a log in a different base you need to use the change of basis formula: Log(base a) of b = Log(b)/Log(a) So in your example you would use Log(9)/Log(3) to get 2 I hope that helps.
thank you. i've watched serial videos but i understood you. Please do more, i'm stating class in Aug and i have never used an scientific calculator so thank you again. Signed Frustrated
excelent tutorial!!! it really helped me to understand the basics of it! would you be kind to do a tutorial about how to do algebraic computations on this calculator? I know is not designed for that purpose but I know that you know a way to do it, so, please! I'll really appreciate it!
I love how you explain the use of this calculator what if I am doing something like this 2square root -25x^12y^23 on this calcutor And i want to store X and y into the TI30
In other calculators there is a x to the power of y button (it looks like a x with a little y by the top right corner). What is it on the Texas Unstrument TI-30X IIS?
No. You cannot graph with this calculator. For that you would need a graphing calculator like a TI 83 (which will run you at least $80). I do have some videos about graphing lines: th-cam.com/play/PLte95fLu7u9ukLz24TytI8v-gSrTn-vBs.html if that's what you're struggling with.
Kevin, do you know to get the calculator to display, e.g., cos^(-1)[0] as "pi/2" instead of "1.5707"? I've already put it in radian mode using the [DRG] button. Thanks for the video and any help!
There really isn't a way to do that on this calculator. The TI 30 XS has a "math print" mode and can do that I think. What you can do is after you get your answer, divide by pi and then change it from decimal to fraction. That's the best I've got. I hope that helps.
What about radicals? For example square root of 80 always gives me a decimal. Is there a way on this calculator to get that radicand in simplest form, while still being a radical?
Alexander Galdamez This calculator cannot simplify radicals in radical form. The TI 30XS can. This one cannot. I plan on putting out another video soon on how to simplify radicals.
Thanks so much for this! SO helpful! I do a question, though. I am doing college chemistry right now and need to find the rate constant using a calculator. On most calculators people use a STAT button... does mine have that ability? I see a STATVAR button... I would so appreciate any help.
Thanks for this video. I downloaded the Instructioj Manual (.pdf) for this calculator, but all I got was a teacher's instruction guide. It might as well have been reading a Jurisprudence legal document, for as much sense as it made to me. Just curious: Do you have that manual to look over? And is it just me, and it's ridiculous in its ex;planations? Or does it make perfect sense to you? I'm new to scientific calculators, so it may just be my inexperience. Have you, or could you, done/do a review of the different calculator buttons? Just a quick explanation of what the different buttons are designed to do. Else I fear I'll have to traipse into the teacher's guide some more. Ugh.
Type in: 11^-4 x 11^-4. You will end up with a decimal. You should be able to use the 2nd, fd function to convert it to a fraction (although in this case it may be too large to convert). Alternately: without the calculator your answer would be 11^-8 or 1/(11^8)
+Erica Redding yes it does. You use the A b/c button. If you want to write 3/4 you would push 3 then the A b/c button then 4. If you want to change it to an improper fraction just push the 2nd button then Ab/c and then enter/=
what button is the carrot button on a TI-30xa i eventually found fraction to decimal plan on making similar videos myself when i get well informed enuff
On the TI-30XA there is a x^y button. That particular calculator can be more difficult to use, primarily because it does not display a visual confirmation of the calculation you are carrying out. When you use that function you will type in the base first the hit the x^y button. The screen may clear and then you will type the exponent. Then you will hit enter. I hope that helps.
I need to figure out how to put negative numbers under a radical sign. I have tried using the (-) negative button next to the 0, but it comes up as "domain error".
+Jenna Petty Whenever you take the square root of a negative number, you get a complex number as a result. The TI 30X IIS cannot do calculations with complex numbers. You're getting that "domain error" because you are typing the calculation correctly but, since the answer is a complex number, your calculator cannot give you a result. Lisa E if you type in Log(15)/Log(13) you get 1.056, which is not the answer you're looking for. I feel like I'm missing something. Would it be possible to get a picture of the question you're working on?
This is covered in the video. You use the fraction button (the a b/c button). Type in in this example, 27 a b/c 2 a b/c 3 * 1 a b/c 2. You're going to get a mixed number when you do this. If you need to convert it to an improper fraction that's covered in the video as well.

You don't. You're not solving it you're simplifying it. Each of your exponents get reduced by 2 and the 5 is left over x^2 because it doesn't have any factors of x to cancel. You should end up with 3x^5 +4x^4 + 5/x^2
