Thanks for posting this candy man. Barry was a generous, funny and raconteur par excellence.... He WILL be missed.

Barry calling himself a backroom boy when he wrote for the great comedians of that era just shows how charming he was but he was never backroom but i believe he thought very much that he was maybe even thought I'm nicking a living, but that could not be further from the truth, what a humble wonderful man.

There’s an absolutely terrific podcast with Barry and Danny sitting in a pub, exchanging stories. Well worth a listen.

Thoroughly enjoyable interview with Barry, one of the true greats.
Danny seems to have moved onwards and upwards since arranging coaches for Millwall fans to Away games from our salubrious South East London residences, in another life.
The Peasants’ Revolt led by Wat Tyler in 1381 moved over Blackheath as did so many of us from our Inner London youth and 39 years later, I still miss the vibrancy and stimulation of that area and era every day.

Great Post...Danny..(as it comes across)...was absorbing what was being talked about.... very south London....you learn everything about everybody by letting them talk....they either swim or drown in your opinion

    Aw bless you Barry.
Thanks for putting this up Danny, miss you on the radio, these great guests, legends who everyone else seem to ignore. Fantastic stories that just effortlessly flow, Lionel Blair's was a classic bless him.
One that stayed with me was Tommy Steele telling us about seeing the ghost of his brother on his hospital bed, sent shivers.

Great interview. What a show DB was and how wrong to axe it. There has never been its equal. Thank you Danny for all the entertainment.

BBC Radio London station manager, the 'pinhead & weasel' himself that Danny referred to, David Robey has alot to answer for... He really put in place a knock-on effect of cost-cutting throughout BBC Local Radio that has had devastating results to the current day.

Barry Cryer could have been a star in his own right. He was clearly more than 'just' a writer. A very funny man who even had a number one pop hit.

Would love to listen to this but the dreadful tinkling music in the background makes it impossible (for me). Why is it there?

I met Barry Cryer in a pub on City Road in Newcastle in the late 80's. I told him a very filthy joke about Rock Hudson and he returned the favour with one of the most obscene limericks I have ever heard about Jim'll Fix It. Years later, the Jimmy Savile scandal broke and I realised old Barry knew exactly what was going on.

Danny Baker is very entertaining and full of interesting anecdotes but he is also his own biggest fan. Every time he interviews a guest it is basically a Danny Baker interview with interludes by *insert name of person being interviewed*
I still like the guy though.
