  • Kaiserslautern / Germany is a city in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in the southwest of the country. The historic center dates back to the 9th century. Today Kaiserslautern is home to about 100.000 people with additionally approximately 45.000 NATO military personnel. The military presence is a large contributing factor to the local economy.
We start our tour on this cloudy day at the Kaiserpfalz (Barbarossaburg). This former palace was a temporary seat for the roman emperor from the early and high middle ages. Nowadays a few red stones remain giving a small impression of the former glory.
On this walk we see the city centre with common shopping streets and a few churches. We walk to the Kaiserbrunnen on the eastern edge of the city center and head outwards to the Museum Pfalzgalerie.
The final part of this walk happens inside the Japanese Garden, where we take our time to check out this relaxing place.

I live here, was born here. I love K-town! Thank you for the video. Ramstein and Landstuhl are nice also, with the Air Base here and 2 Army and one AF base in K-town. I’m sure people from the US (or wherever people come from) would like to see it, new soldiers coming to the area and the ones who were here, they can see the changes… K-town and area is worth a trip!!! Well, Germany is!!!
Many people speak English, just an FYI.

I lived in downtown Kaiserslautern from January 1984 to April 1988, and then I moved onto Ramstein Air Base. I lived in a large apartment building on Hilgardring, not far from the Mainzer Tor area of the walkplatz. I thoroughly enjoyed this video as it brought back many fond memories of walking home from shopping or eating out in downtown Kaiserslautern! I was happy to get a glimpse of Eiscafe Dolomiten in the video, one of my favorite places.

      Erfolgschancen gleich null.

Love your videos Daniel, such a great variety of different cities! One thing I’ve noticed though, why is the contrast so high? The colours sometimes wash out or get black crushed.

    • @poptravelorg
      @poptravelorg  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Thank you! As for the picture quality: The DJI Pocket 2 has a rather flat color profile for "normal" profile with fewer details in 4K60 compared to the original Osmo Pocket 1. Due to the wider lens in the Pocket 2 I set my exposure point in the sky and add some extra +0.7. With the Osmo Pocket (1) I was setting exposure for the floor though that washed out the sky mostly - you hardly every see clouds or blue sky. The dynamic range is a challenge on high contrast scenes.
With the Pocket 2 I seemed to have gotten some middle ground of not too many exposure changes as some flickering of constant brightness changes can also be tricky. When the sky is too bright, everything else gets too dark though which is an issue with clouds. Blue sky is darker after all then clouds.
However, starting soon I will record in D-Cinelike on the Pocket2 and do the grading afterwards. Thanks to some new hardware I should be able to get the grading and saturation adjusted. That hopefully results in better dynamic range while I continue to film additional perspectives with the Pocket 1. As for the additional perspective there will be a 2nd channel at some point later this year probably which will show more views in different directions in walks from 2021 and beyond.
      Thanks for watching!

I'm sure comments would be good. Right now I have more fun walking and recording videos - releasing 2-3 per week instead of sitting infront of the computer. As of now there are more than 460 videos on the channel, all published within the past 3 1/2 years which results in 100+ per year. When the time comes, there will be subtitles and comments. I'm showing a wide variety of towns where lower views just don't justify the time investment into providing subtitles research and editing (around 8-10 h per hour of video). With that volume it would result more into a job than a hobby. Subtitle sponsoring is available
