  • My friend recently bought the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and I took it as an opportunity to take it for a thorough drive and find out what is the USP of this car? Why does it sell so much? Is it expensive? Is it powerful? Is it comfortable? Is it a real value for money proposition?
    BTW, he spent over 21.5 Lakhs on road to get the G Hybrid variant. Now that's a lot of money for a rebranded Suzuki.

    Sensible video. One question. Do you feel vibrations as it's a 3 cylinder ?

      Lesser than one would think. Vibrations are very well controlled, I haven't checked under the bonnet but they could have added a 4th faux balancing cylinder to help with the vibrations.

    @9:00 You wont get initial bite of the break in Hybrids, as it first engages the Motor to decelerate first by regenerating the power to battery (Regen levels) and then after some time it actually engages the break, so for Hybrids you have to be careful.

      I knew this theoretically but was expecting this to happen only in the "B" gear where drag is increased and it recharges battery specially when going downhill 😀

      @@TractionControl There is a little surprise here. No matter you are in D or B the regen is same. That's the truth. The B feels more snaggy because the gear operates at lower levels and the engine gets noisy. In B if you feel braking while going down the hill thats because engine is braking the car. This is as good as driving a Pure ICE at 2nd gear and 3rd gear. The eCVT does a very nice job here, it doesn't let you feel the difference when you accelerate. The P910 gearbox is state of the art gearbox by Toyota, however, the gearbox itself dates back to atleast 6-7 years. Yes, it's that old. That's the original Yaris transaxle.

    I was planning to buy a car for mileage and reliable engine for a long term and drive quality. What will you suggest Toyota or Honda elevate?? One last queation can I have the same insurance like toyota online as well??

      If driving pleasure is a priority over fuel economy, then go for for Elevate. Also, Elevate has better overall quality interiors.
      If priority is fuel economy and a bit more space, then go for Hyryder.
      One thing to note - I absolutely hate that the sunroof in the Hyryder does not have an opaque cover. It's just a cloth, which is such poor cost cutting and no matter what some light will always be creeping inside.

      Get Insurance directly from the sellers (like ICICI, HDFC, Tata and what not) showroom people overcharge by a LOT! you can easily save 20-30K by getting the Insurance done yourself.

      Yes!! It is actually just a net. There should have been a blind, I don't know what Toyota/MS were thinking. It is a big bummer 😕

    @6:51 Awsome Bro! So true, when you can do it with a press. AI and voice commands are too much when you are driving a vehicle. These idiotic features by car manufacturers keep drivers away from the basic driving, leading to accidents. Seriously, why would you want to go handsfree for such puny things! All controls are in well reach of the driver when needed. Great!
