These are significant enhancements but I would like to see this demonstration done on more challenging images with trees, hair, and areas that do not have such a clear separation as the photos you have used in the demo.
Very impressive Dan. I hope to see a feature to identify out of focus backgrounds to make them more out of focus to emulate expensive llow f number lenses. Ur product is better than luminar as that does not make a mask
Looks great and useful so I pre-ordered 2023. A concern is that all this AI capability will make my already slow, often "not responding", too often crashing 2022.5 experience worse. Will it be better?
It is simply a pleasure to watch your new videos about ON1 Photo RAW 2023, one has to be really amazed at what a great programme you have developed! I have now taken out a subscription with ON1 straight away and am waiting with great pleasure for October, when we can work with this great programme ourselves, your videos are really great, I familiarised myself with this programme 3 years ago through your videos and have a great deal of pleasure with it :)) Have a nice weekend, best regards Güni :))👍👍📷🌞
I've been buying the annual update to ON1 every year. But this year I'm more exited and eager to get the upgrade than any of the past years. Really looking forward to the release!
Awesome feature - can't wait to use it. Thanks to you I'm in trouble now explaining my wife why buying a pen for better masking was a superfluous expense 😂...
That actually brings up a great point... I am just a hobbyist and use an iMac with touchpad. After awhile, my fingers get a little sore. What do most post processor people use - mouse, trackpad, etc.???
I like to use luminosity masks, with the new select ai masks can we start with a lumin mask and then use s ai to quickly select and paint out areas that I don't want the adjustments applied to? thanks
@@ON1Photo I'd love to see demonstrations of luminosity masks and color range masks coupled with super select ai. My understanding is as soon as you choose one of these, the "masking" starts over... so, I assume you can't choose super select first in these cases.
@@ON1Photo is there a way to double mask in the filter section to use a lumin mask as a stencil and paint in the filter effect through the lumin mask, just like it's possible in pshop
Very interesting!! I do real estate photography and I would like to know if I could create HDR images in series like in Photomatix instead of doing them one by one and could I open all my photos from my daily sessions at the same time like with Lightroom? Thanks!
When are you going to implement DCP camera profile? I have some custom profile for my Sony and need to say that starting point of editing with DCP profile in luminar is much easier than with on1 and icc profile.
amazing ! is it possible, like photoshop, to refine mask with brushes. In photoshop i use a lot a black or white brush in overlay mode so i can make darks darker without touching white... also use sometimes dodge and burn tools with midtone, highlight or shadow option.
This looks very interesting. Is there any chance this could work for close up shots of say spiders where normally legs etc are very hard to mask If it does even partially it would be very good. Any chance of a demo for insects / spiders ?
when can we expect photoshop gradient map filter for deeper black and white than traditional BW filter and for color grading ? asked for years on feature request forum
Impressive but dark skin against a grey photo background is easy. I hope it can do as good a job with 'normal' backgrounds. Looking forward to the release!
Thank you Dan for your awesome tutorial! I'm considering purchasing ON1 Photo RAW 2023 with Plugins as a standalone photo editor. I have a question if I may; Does this software support Apple ProRaw, GoPro Raw GPR and/or Raw DNG files? Thanks again, Awesome Job!! 😊👍
So far, I've only seen this Smart Select AI in the use of applying adjustments. But is it also useful to isolate various things and copy them to their own layer?
@@ON1Photo Yeah, that's why I fear a bit, how one decides between the Super Select, Quick Mask AI and Mask AI, not to mention good old Perfect Brush? Are those competing / separate techniques, or basically still the same thing?
Image with the water / buildings is similar to when I first have seen a Nik Collection's Viveza. Pity their u-point technology is patented. Because it allows you select a circle segment, where it kind of auto-masks. But there is a hope, as we can see we can select separate boats, so hopefully that would work for buildings too, as you might want to make some darker / brighter, or adapt a color a bit ....
I love the improvements you are making to the AI engines. They are definitely going to make intricate masks a whole lot easier. Using your example of the buildings in the video...suppose I want to enhance on building in the lot of building...i.e. the Sistine chapel how could I accomplish that in similar fashion as you described being able to isolate individual boats? Very much looking forward to the release!! Great work under the hood!!!
The sky masks are not reflected in the water or altering the lighting on the buildings which makes the rest of the image unnatural, unless thats what you wanted.
Is there going to be any tool built in to the app that allows the user to help train the mask AI? Would be great too if you all add an expand/choke slider to help adjust the mask edge. Sometimes feathering isn't really what's needed for an edge and you just want to shift it a few pixels instead. And i'm blown away at how much further along you all are compared to Adobe's best offerings!
I'm looking for that option to. Feather should add a gradient opacity to the edge of mask and not just blur it in both directions (when mask is paint-in and paint-out.
Make the fonts bigger on Mac, it’s extremely tiny on my 5k iMac. All other programs looks much better. The ON1 fonts are barley readable. I never liked ON1 for that reason. I would might get it if i could work with it without getting eye pain🙈
Have been an ON1 user for many years but stop using the software 2/3 years ago due to poor performance on my laptop. I bought a max out top of the range XPS 13 some 2 years ago and unfortunately it don’t play nice with the XPS. I do understand the XPS don’t have a dedicated graphic card built in but looking at how most hardwares are trending I hope the ON team optimise the app for these new generation of hardwares. Lightroom works well on the laptop. I would love get back to ON1 but won’t do until performance improves.
These are significant enhancements but I would like to see this demonstration done on more challenging images with trees, hair, and areas that do not have such a clear separation as the photos you have used in the demo.
This is great stuff. Love how exact the masks are. Can't wait to get this next month. So glad I bought ON1.

Fantastic, Dan! Looking forward to the release.

Hi Sarah, After some digging Super Select AI actually won;t work to adjust luminosity masks since both tools work as setting the base mask.
We were wrong. You wont actually be able to use the tool to adjust a luminosity mask since both tools set the base mask.

We dont have plans to currently implement that feature, but we will send this request to our product management.

You can, but you will want to use the updated Quick Mask AI for that.
@@ON1Photo Yeah, that's why I fear a bit, how one decides between the Super Select, Quick Mask AI and Mask AI, not to mention good old Perfect Brush? Are those competing / separate techniques, or basically still the same thing?
You could still use the Perfect Brush to edit the mask. The Super Select, Quick Mask and Mask AI set the base mask.
a very smart idea. any editor needs them to save a lot of time.

I think you can use brush to paint out whatever you don’t need to mask. Just the suggestion.
HI Dan. Very impressive. Watch out adobe might buy you out.
This is going to make editing so much easier.
Yes it will. Honestly, this will make editing so enjoyable.
i find these demos very impressive however when ive tried on1 i find it difficult to navigate , which has always stopped me from purchasing
