After the billions that have been spent to stop this story from happening ... it's still happening. Well done to Albo & his inner-city elites for putting grog back into these towns. Heartbreaking to hear the hopelessness of it all. It's almost Theresa & thousands of women & children like her need to remain in this hellish existence in order to justify the system.

@@sharongoodsell9341 IMHO Theresa is brave speaking out because she knows the mob will get her when they find out, but has still spoken out
l just wish someone in power would listen
l agree Sharon "violence is everywhere", l grew up with it and now l see my children growing up with it, but not from me or in my home, l do stand up for my children and teach them how to be worthwhile and good people
l am sorry you have had violence against you in your lifetime, it is not how it should be

We spend $40 billion per year and we still have this mess
Does Labor really think the 'Voice' will fix this?
I don't because the city aboriginals are so out of touch

My heart goes out to you Theresa. I went out their in the 80's as a dental nurse to give treatment. Yuendumu has less houses then. Even though there was bars on the Government house we stayed in I always felt safe there and loved the children the cheeky little imps lol. I understand your culture and yes grog is a big part of the problem. Stay strong.

I think we should understand these are still Stone age people and stop expecting them to leap into the modern age. Maybe in another 60,000 years. God bless this brave woman.

What you wrote only applies to the true aboriginal, they will not get anything, it goes into the city back pockets! It's the half breeds that are trying to bring in the voice for more money, they deserve absolutely nothing, in fact, I would be putting in if you are 50%either way yes they get money, the others with less, get nothing!!!

It's not just in the Northern Territory, I live in inner Brisbane and am white but have murris on the grog next to me. Been assaulted before and get threatened almost daily.
Meth has made the situation ten fold worse - it's everywhere!

Living in a remote Indigenous community in the NT you see how much grog effects people. It's bloody horrible shit. Jealousy is a big thing as well, causes so much DV (both ways) and fighting. One thing that shocked me is how amazing the local culture is, and how you become part of the Mob. Glad this lady is speaking up, there's so little coverage of the problems ridding the Territory, it just gets forgotten about.

When there is no hope no education and a catalyst like alcohol to suppress reason violence is usually not far away, the people who have controlled the money meant to help this society should be investigated for potential fraud and the Politicians who allowed the alcohol back should be made to live in this town for a week under the same conditions as this woman.

Where are the senior law men, they should be getting this situation resolved and bring back peace and harmony to the majority of the community, can you get them to build a hut about 15k out of town to where they can go if they want to drink and make the town a dry community. Hope you get this resolved soon and let Djumma or Kiki know Djarru wrote this. 🙏🏻

I know people will save she’s brave but for what telling the truth. The brave ones are the cops working in these places. But she is right alcohol what percentage of assaults are committed in NT under influence of alcohol. I assume over seventy five percent.
The police deal with the violence and mop up the after affects with no real change. They introduced a police licensing section it lasted three hours after three pubs were summonsed selling alcohol to children in school uniform in as many hours the unit was dismissed by acting chief minister. Sadly the hypocrisy with alcohol sales is that the industry underwrites financial campaigns of both major parties and government collects hefty licensing fees. How about police enforce liquor laws and all major parties sign commitments not to take funding from alcohol industry. Maybe then we’ll have some modicum of positive change.
