Great reading year! Books should never be banned. If a parent has a problem with a book then maybe they should sit down and discuss it with their child. I’ve read the first three books in The Giver series didn’t know there was a fourth. Will have to find it before the end of the year.
Loved your selections for your 2024 favorites. The Giver is fabulous and you will enjoy the others in the series equally, I’m sure. Bridge to Terabetha was popular with my daughters and I when it first came out. It’s a beautiful, heart-wrenching story. The Women is sitting on my TBR shelf right now. Oh, and I also agree with you about Bel Canto. I just have difficulty getting into the Patchett books I’ve attempted though one of my dear friends absolutely loves her. A thumbs up to you for reading so many banned books! Have a happy new reading year!
@susan3037 yes, I should have mentioned that! I read 18 banned books, in all - fell a little short of the goal of 24, but still - I'm proud of my reviews and discussions about all of them and the variety of those I read. Will I do 25 in 25? Let's see!
Terrific video, Reney. You've had a great reading year. I have to tell you that I did laugh out loud when you mentioned Bel Canto--especially when you said you meant to take it to the little free library and you forgot to bring it with you. It's as though you're never going to be able to get rid of that book. But seriously, you did read so many really wonderful books, and you did such a phenomenal job of reading banned books too. Raina absolutely seems to have had a good year too. She's such a great co-host. Here's to a healthy and peaceful 2025!
@@BookChatWithPat8668 Honestly, that book haunts me! LOL! Isn't it crazy that most of my favorite books are the banned ones!? If you're going to take away books, I guess you just start with the BEST ones! I hope you have a wonderful New Year, too. I'm going to take a tip from Mr Roger's and look for the helpers!
This whole book banning business in the US is heartbreaking, so mind-boggling, bewildering... A fantastic review video, Reney, very enjoyable, clever to combine least favourites with most favourites, added some spice. A very fun video to watch - thank you.
It's good to see you, Reney, with your co-host. :) Bridge to Terabithia. I made the mistake of reading it my first year of teaching (fifth grade). I hadn't read it before and when I got to the end I started weeping in front of my students. But it was a good thing for them to see how books can effect us. Good memories! Wishing you and your family a very blessed 2025! :)
@@paperpagespossibilities It's so good! You can get the books separately or all together in one book. I may have to sponsor a "series month" (or two) where we all read further into series that we started, but never finished!
Great list! You know I agree on Beartown! To kill a mockingbird is on my 2025 tbr, and I would like to read the Nickel boys at some point. And a couple more from this list as well. Very dark topics though, so not all in one go! 😊
I read Bridge to Terabithia in 5th grade and it's still one of my all time favorites. I should probably read it again next year. We have a couple of the same books in our top list. At least I think we do. I haven't made up my mind completely what will be on my list.
@@KellyLovesBooksandMovies I was a little surprised by how much I enjoyed that book. It's difficult for people explain what that story is really about. I'm not that surprised that have some of our top books in common. It just shows what great books they are!
Yes! Definitely! The majority of the banned books I read are powerful, thoughtful books that really shine a light on an important topic. In doing so, they draw attention to themselves, and someone finds a way to become offended by them.
What do you mean? It doesn't matter... It absolutely matters how many books you reading a year..😂😂😂 76 way to go! I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. I was really hoping that the sister's Brothers made it to your top 10 list😢 Great year of booktube I look forward to 2025🎉🎉🎉
Raina’s eyes are just glued to you the whole time! Puppy dog eyes… 👀
Your channel is my favorite! Thanks for making the year great!
That is SO kind of you to say!
A great year for you and Raina! I'm glad you had so much you enjoyed. I'm with you on The Diary of a Young Girl. So moving, so powerful.
I just LOVED reading and reviewing that book. It was a great year for reading, but 2025 will be even BETTER!
Happy new year!!
@@BeyondBooks-wt5il Happy New Year 😀

Summer of my German Soldier is a fantastic read! There is a sequel but it doesn’t really live up to the original.
