    I recently went on a school camp at South Stradbroke Island and we were allowed to bring our fishing gear. Every minute of free time I spent fishing, and I even woke up super early in the morning to go out fishing. I was shocked at how big the flathead were there. I got busted off about 7 times by really big flathead on that camp, and it was on 6lb line as well. I wound in a big close to 70cm flathead and about 5 metres from me the knot came undone and my heart shattered. That happened about 7 times, but at varying size and I hooked an absolute monster that ran me about 30 metres right into the deep water before the knot broke. I also really hope those flathead are ok, I'm sure they will be. I did manage to land a 60cm, 50cm and a 30cm though, so I did catch some but yeah, relatable about those flathead.

      Yeah mate sucks when you loose those big ones! I'm sure they will shake the hooks though.. and someone will get a free double clutch!

      @@johnrepar5068 bit silly to use 6lb for flathead apart from being expensive ( Lost Lures ) not good for the fishery

    Great video, nice flatties. Were they all caught early morning? And what was the tide doing, rising or falling?

    What pound leader do u use? I hooked a massive flatty at Noosa as well. (In the spot where you got spiked) We had the flatty on the edge of the water/sand and a wave came and she unhooked herself and got away. No pics, No measurement and now no body believes me at school… 😩

    great vid! how come you dident just grab em by the gob?

    • @johnrepar5068
      @johnrepar5068  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would normally just do the gob grab on any fish up to 50cm. But those bigger ones have pretty big teeth and I’ve heard of people getting pretty messed up haha. I also didn’t expect to get one that big so I didn’t bring the grips for them.

      Eckie Fleckie I got lucky and was hooking up within maybe 30 minutes of casting in a new spot. But it’s different every day depending on the mood of the fish.
