  • Hey everybody, it was a lot of fun getting to play around with this camera and I hope you like it! Interesting to see what the average Joe (many of my family members included) end up getting when they pick up a camera for the first time. Enjoy!

    It's a good camera for those who want to work on their photo skills. If one can do good photos with this camera it will bring up your game on higher end cameras. Just know the limitations of a kit lens and get a prime lens like the Canon 24mm/ 50mm lens and study and practice.

    I have two dslr cameras thr canon rebel xs and a t7. I've had the xs since 08 and still use it. Its great. I really like my t7. It does a great job. I'm no a beginner at photography. I was 18 when I started and now 69. I've done some professional work and didn't have a lot equipment. Its aways been a bank breaker for me but I've made the best of what I did have. Its skills with what youhave that makes the difference and I'm still learning. Thanks foryour video

      I am glad to hear this. I use my phone for photography and I can say I am pretty much used to engaging some extra efforts to get good pictures so I am ok with technical errors on this camera.
      Having a DSLR as my main camera was my dream. These days cameras are very expensive. So this is good option with an added quality lens

    Instead of the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM, I'd suggest you take a look at the Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM (the pancake lens) $125 Refurbished. You may find this lens a little more usable in outdoor situations. And a 2.8 aperture is still usable in some lowlight situations.

    I had considered buying a new Canon T7 this year because I wanted to go back to DSLRs after having shot with an early Sony mirrorless (Alpha NEX-5K) for the past six years. Ultimately, I went with a used Nikon D3300 instead for the simple reason that I already had a 300mm zoom lens for a Nikon but only a medium 35-80mm zoom lens for Canon (both from SLR film cameras).

    Great video, I currently have this same set up.
    I’m thinking of upgrading to a a7c and sigma 1.4 85mm to take headshots/ portraits of haircuts in my barbershop.
    Do you think I will see much of a difference?

    • @MatthewSnyderPhoto
      @MatthewSnyderPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Sony A7C is one of the coolest cameras I’ve seen and certainly the most tempting for an upgrade. I think that it would be a big step up, however depending on the lens you currently have it may start giving you diminishing returns. If you currently have a 1.8 for your Canon I do still think you’ll see a difference in the amount of bokeh and light being let in, it may just not be a night and day difference. Another thing you may want to consider if you take pictures during the day is picking up an ND filter as that can make a huge difference with fast lenses!

    This was my first camera. I learned a lot from it. I used it for two years before going to a Sony mirrorless camera. It's great for landscape and nature photography. The only downside I had with it was the focusing system. When trying to take portraits I missed focus a lot.. Now with my new camera I have eye AF and never miss focus.

    For the price of a T7, or less, I picked up a used a Canon 6D, and a Canon 1D mk.4 for similar money used. I want no new camera, when the used ones are so good with plenty of life left in them bought from a dealer with warranty.

    • @MatthewSnyderPhoto
      @MatthewSnyderPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I totally agree, the used market is wonderful even for those who want the reliability of having a warranty. This camera is interesting as I personally know at least two people who bought it simply by walking into a store and picking up the cheapest thing they saw. That’s art of the reason why I was interested in it.

    You can not add mic to this cam. There is no 3.5 jack. Really problematic to make videos with good audio

    • @brosettastone7520

      you can use your phone to record audio with an external mic and then layer the audio over your camera video. not rocket science
