      @@alexanderbertallo1995 it created a huge fiasco. There were a few other models that did the same thing. It was bad because spyderco blamed users for their poor decision in putting thin washers in it. They then switched all new bearing flipper knives to a new system that they use today with thicker washers and new phosphorus bronze bearing cages.

    I'd rather have 154 or s30 over these (super steels) The trade off just doesn't seem worth it to me! Thanks for the comparison 👍👊

    The “book” on m390, 20cv and 204p is that they are pretty much the same steel. Yet m390 really does better above 61.5 HRC and the other two in the wild are often below 60hrc, no wonder they perform so so. Any idea when the tested domino was made? Codes from box? Just wishing that quality control got better with time, we are paying for the super steels, while so much performance is left locked in the steel because of heat treat. G thanks for the testing.

    Spyderco must not be sharing there protocol with the other manufacturers they use. I'm assuming they would ht it the same or similar to m390 being that it's an analog.
    That new lionsteel m390 knife they have coming out soon is going to be really really bad performance. Too bad too cause it's going to sell like hot cakes because it's m390 and micarta and that's all it takes to sell out to the sheep of the knife world.

    Geometry?? What's the blade stock? Is the 204p similar to the m390 and 20cv? I'm on the edge of my seat. I almost bought one of those bento box domino's recently.

    • @tacticalcenter8658
      @tacticalcenter8658 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      M390, 20cv and 204p are the same steel made at different companies using slightly different methods. But near identical composition with some small variations. In the end when heat treated the same, they should be the same.

    • @Outpost_76
      @Outpost_76  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The blade stick thickness has no effect on testing and these both are very close on bte thickness which also has little if any effect on testing.

      For what it’s worth I love my bento box domino. It’s got thin geometry and it’s a fun flipper comfortable to use. I got mine partly because I wanted another knife probably the PM2, but I like it better than the PM2 most days.

      I did a video a while back about not letting testing results ruin a knife for you. I may do an updated video like that. I have some knives that don't perform as well as I'd like but I enjoy the knife enough to overlook it.

      @@Outpost_76 true I like my realsteel megladon in m390 and it performs terrible, but had I paid original prices I'd be pissed. Fortunately I only paid 125 for it so not that bad. Though I don't want poor performance m390, but rather any steel that does as expected of the composition. M390 that performs poorly at lower costs is also unacceptable because your buying the steel with expectations that its supposed to do better than s30v... Due to the marketing.
