where were u guys when he was putting up a shit show every race.. no passion and no presence , Tsunoda despite having shit skills as compare to that of Ricciardo was putting more effort and getting more out of the car. Even in the paddock he was not passionate. Everything about his season was flat and the ending was aptly flat.
"Everybody does something in their life for the last time at some point," he muses. "But you don’t know at the time. So, I shall remember that Fastest Lap."
So as a Danni Ric fan since he was at HRT even I can see that his time was up. What I resent is the lack of warning, the lack of an interview with Brundle or someone talking about where he's going, what he did etc. He has been a part of F1 for so long. He deserves it, and as his fans we deserved it.
RB continues to fuck up absolutely any and everything. That entire organization is just in shambles right now from the ground up. Pathetic showing from them all around this entire year on all fronts. I'm TRULY DISAPPOINTED in my favorite team right now 😮💨
They could've used some good publicity right now, even by dropping Daniel but giving him a proper send of people would've understood and respected their decision, this was the total opposite. Sky Sports reported he was told Sunday evening before he left the paddock.
This is what happens when a legendary CEO dies. The amazing people he was able to control start to become vultures as that element is gone. Being able to control better leaders than anyone else was the reason for the RB success... and is now the reason for its failure. The same happened with Mercedes and Niki Lauda btw, just a bit less pronounced than this is going to be
Yes, the announcement was just before 2am Melbourne time/12am Perth time. Extremely upset at the Red Bull organisation as a whole (Horner, Marko, Bayer, Mekies, etc.) for how they've handled this situation - most definitely deserved a 'proper' goodbye for not only all his achieved on the track, but for all he's done for the sport over the past 13+ years. Also sounds like RBR informed Liam Lawson 2 weeks prior to Singapore, so they had every opportunity to do so. Hoping Max begins to look for opportunities elsewhere before the company further degrades (as it's looking to do so). Looking forward to Daniel next adventures, whether that be NASCAR/INDYCAR, or just hanging out on his farm back home; just hope he knows the love and support that his got behind him! :)
Danny Ric was basically why I got back into watching F1. Hadn't watched F1 since the 90s then I saw drive to survive and it reignited my passion for the sport. "My name is Daniel Riccardo and I'm a car mechanic" 😂
@@bipolarminddroppingsnot everyone picks a favorite driver based on their results. Everyone knows driver changes aren’t based on personality and I haven’t seen anyone saying they should be. People are just mad about how this situation was handled.
It's rare to have such a great talent with such a great personality. He deserved a better ending, but he has already accomplished more than we could dream in 10 lifetimes. Best Wishes Daniel Riccardo !
It's a true shame he was not able to finish this season and how Red Bull did him dirty not giving him a proper send off. After all this I want Danny to come to the US and do IndyCar, bring all the drive to survives fans with him. Do what Messi has done for MLS.
This just goes to show how little Red Bull thinks of their drivers, and it's not just Ricciardo. They ignored Perez about the car for over a year and let the media tear him apart. Tsunoda is stuck at the B team no matter how fast he goes. Lawson's development has been stagnated for a year. And not to mention what they did to Gasly and Albon. So now we need to think - is this a team that young drivers want to get invested into if they have options elsewhere? Is this a team culture that Verstappen would want to stay in?
Unless Jos is trying to make it all an organisation that’s centred around his son… I think Max is reconsidered his allegiances right now. First the team loses it’s head honcho in tragic circumstances, and then… well, this year happened. Every dynasty must fall at some point. And I don’t think many will be sad to see Red Bull fall back to the field at this rate.
Toto did the same to Lewis, totally fked him, and that's why Toto has been so pissed that Lewis was able to turn around and take 100m a season at Ferrari, who have a better car than Mercedes for the last three seasons. These team bosses don't seem to understand we watch because of the drivers, not the teams.

When you think about how Danny Ric was essentially the main character and protagonist of Drive to Survive season 1. The impact he’s had on the sport in that sense, with his popularity and character, what he did with Drive to Survive that ALONE should be worth a proper send off, not to mention his racing career and being a multiple time Grand Prix winner and fan favorite.

As a proper farewell to the sport, F1 should get Daniel to present the winner's trophy to the winner of next year's Australian GP, and then have him share a couple of shoey's with the whole podium.
Daniel Ricciardo is a driver in his mid 30s, who was put in the VCarb to do one job - beat Tsunoda. And he didn't do that job. He's at the age where either you beat Tsunoda, or you're gone; you should be the finished article by that age. He needs to be good enough to jump into a Red Bull seat for Perez and perform immediately, otherwise why bother with a driver of his age. He (sadly) just underperformed, and F1 is a brutal and unfair sport (Lance Stroll is still in a seat). Red Bull A: have every right to drop him and B: are very sensible to drop him to test out Liam Lawson, a young driver with more potential. But how they handled the situation is absolutely appalling. Daniel Ricciardo IS a mid 30s driver who isn't really performing. But as we all know, he's more than that. He is one of the most popular drivers of all time and the face of the sport in many ways. He was also a pretty damn special driver in his prime. Red Bull owe so much to him for the popularity he gave to their team and brand, and they've just slapped him across the face. What a horrible situation, but really just another sign of an organisation in tatters. Red Bull F1 is an organisation rapidly falling to pieces, becoming a joke at this point.
Nothing against Liam, who deserves a chance and would be there next year anyway, imho. But I, for one, was looking forward to see Daniel redeem his season at Mexico and Interlagos. To see him swept under the rug like this is a travesty. And particularly hurtful right before CotA, Mexico and Interlagos.
he wouldn't be there next year tho, because if they didn't give him race starts this year he had a get-out clause. Now, who would you rather have under contract? Danny or Liam?

Lawson deserves the seat but they did Danny dirty. All those years of service and this is the send-off they gave him, it's embarrassing. I lost a lot of respect for them.
All those years of service, you mean when he dropped Red Bull for Renault, then begged to get back years later, he wouldn't be racing now if it wasn't for RB. All he had to do was was beat Yuki. I do agree that RB didn't handle it well, they should have given him Austin and a final farewell.

F1 is not a personality show it's a performance sport, and unfortunately Danny has been not at the level he was for multiple years now, there's not each space on the grid to carry passengers he's had chances with red bull mclaren Renault and now RB not many drivers can say that. He has had his time it's somebody else's turn, I do agree it was a odd way of doing it though.
Agreed 100%. Everyone going on about what a lovely guy he is - really? it's not a personality contest, he's not getting paid to smile. His performance is awful and he got sacked twice. Yeah it's unprofessional and disrespectful on RB's part, no doubt. Daniel is an entertainer and loves attention, he will do well in whatever he chooses next.
@rowen42069 he came 5th in a season when his teammate was 12th. He never had the fastest car in the competition. In the last 14 years only 1 championship was won by a driver in a car that wasnt the fastest (2021 Max) and even then it was... questionable... Daniel came in and chased 4 time WDC Seb Vettel out the door. Have some respect
'Daniel admitted he didn't do enough', that's been part of his problem, instead of complaining about being on a soft strategy like Lewis or being unable to get the tyres up to temp like Ferrari, he makes it seem it was down to his driving when 90% of the time it wasn't.
@@Kaimax61 Was not washed in Renault by any stretch of the imagination, beat both his teammates and scored 2 podiums and was 5th in the standings in 2020
I'd heard that Lawson was promised (in his contract) 5 races. So it's only fair that he gets 5 races. The next race is Austin, one of Danny Ric's favourite places. Surely they could have let him have his last race there? It's very sad. 😢
To be fair this makes me nervous for lawson, if he struggles in these 5 do they go "you're not good enough" and the replace lawson aswell, not going to say they would but if the only have to offer 5 races, they've upheld their side of the bargain and they could choose to clean house
How can you say "he hasn't done enough" while knowing that RB actively kneecaps their drivers every weekend? There is no possible way you can judge the ability of any driver at that team so long as Laurent remains in charge and they don't change the fundamentals of their pitwall. Its an absolute disgrace that VCARB is going to come out of this scot free as though their inability to perform as a functioning team didn't artificially affect the performances of their drivers over the year.
100% agree here- the team has been a disaster from their strategies to their failed upgrades and now they have kicked the only driver that had the experience to help them. I can't see them holding onto sixth, Haas will pass them and potentially Williams.
I want to see him still turn up to COTA on a horse, with a slab of beer. If RB had handled this better, this COULD have happened! Could have even worn a RB Race suit as a throw back and thank you... instead- this mess
The did him so dirty he deserved so so much better I was honestly hoping they would keep him on Hugo’s got thier ads running with him in it’s just not fair
@@AJS86I think this will have pretty massive impact on their sponsors in the future. VCARB brought in around $150 million for the year in large part because of Daniel. In past years they’ve had no where near that amount of sponsorship. Their new lineup has next to no unique value to most companies. If your a regional sales rep bringing clients/prospects to races, there’s so much cache to Ricciardo and being able rubbing elbows, taking a selfie and sharing that on their professional networks as part of their business dev. Most people dgaf about F1, but might with Ricciardo because they’ve seen DTS, or him on late night, or doing other promo.
Was Daniel the greatest driver ever? Nope, but he is a pretty damn good driver, does he deserve a spot on the grid...eh that's questionable with all the new talent coming in etc..., but they could've handled this so much better and announced that he would be replaced before the Singapore GP. They basically gave the guy the finger and said piss off and threw Liam in the seat, WHICH I do think Liam will do a decent job, but this is F1 it's cutthroat and Danny Boy is loved by so many, he should've gotten a better send off.
As much as I agree with you: We dont know under what constraints they had to make the decision. Maybe there was a performance clause up until Singapore so they didnt know if they are legally obliged to keep him or not depending on the race result.
@@_Dibbler_it's been stated that Liam knew 2 weeks in advance of the Singapore gp. Take it with a grain of salt but from what I hear they easily knew that Lawson was going to be in that seat soon. The only reason I could think of is the wording of it may make it ambiguous and as such meant that Lawson didn't know exactly when he was getting the seat. However red bull could've still made an announcement
@@laughing5752 Knowing about it and being able to legally talk about it are 2 different things. We all have no idea whats in their contracts. Could also be they are simply assholes. Who knows
Completely agree with you mates. Think it was correct choice to drop him. Unfortunately he was not good enough for Red bull and there was no point keeping him in Racing bull. Wish he had never left for Renault in the past
DR season performances aside, why is no one asking the question is how is a mid/bottom field car at best all of a sudden capable of not only obtaining the fastest lap of Singapore, but also breaking the lap record??? Think about this without any biases. The question has to be asked, has RB (consciously) holding DR back in his car and as a "olive brach gesture in his last F1 race,' turn the performance of the car up and allowing DR to go for the fastest lap? Something is very fishy to me on this single point and how this may connect with RB piss-poor respect to his last F1 race.
There’s one way they can fix this as a Daniel fan. If Max has already secured the title and Red Bull aren’t fighting for constructors positioning anymore, let Daniel get one last race in a Red Bull.
Thought exactly the same but afraid that's not gonna happen because Max will desperately need to score points till the very last race if things continue like they have in the last races. But yeah, if things are settled, that would be awesome (though would Max give up his car like that? more likely it would have to be Perez' car :D).
@@eduardosantana8300 he clearly wasn't even aware of the possibility of being let go coming into the weekend. Just let the guy know he's being cut especially as a 13 year vet

Remember how both RB and vcarb came out shortly after the Singapore gp about how they weren't talking about dropping Daniel and that he'd continue the season? Ya RB is fucking crazy and now it's even more disappointing that they haven't dropped Checo because he quite literally cost them the constructors championship.
I had hoped that Lawson gets Daniels seat, but that Perez kicked out of the RB seat and that Daniel gets 6 races and then a goodbye. Because Tsunoda and Daniel are better then Perez, wo will stay on. WHY!
this. I feel daniel and max have a way more similar driving style than max has with perez, so if redbull want to keep the cars the same it will always be 1 of them underperforming to what the car can do. Daniel and max were so fire together. Its insanely sad..
The reaction from the other drivers on social media really said a lot I think because they all were very supportive and very nice about it but this is just not acceptable after all he did in Formula One. This is not an acceptable way to end things. I’m wondering what on earth all the sponsors that joined because of Daniel are thinking right now.
Haas had tried that before… Danny was just way too expensive. I’m sure that they could negotiate a new bargain price now but it would still be a lot of moneys
How in tarnation have the managed to justify that, I wonder. Seems like they would have learned about difficult French personalities who crash cars often.
@@Kaimax61 that's the thing, he was never slow, except in the McLaren. Also this year, he was NEVER slow, just not quick enough. Being slow is Zhou level or Sargeant. And he's never gone there
@@Kaimax61 I still think that it has something to do with this generation of f1 cars. Yk how in his prime he was making divebombs back and forth? Well that's because the cars were light. Now these cars are extremely heavy to the point where he can't make those kinds of divebombs anymore, and he's had to completely change his driving style. There has been a similar situation with Hamilton, where he's been struggling in qualifying these last couple of seasons in the new generation of F1 cars.
They could’ve at least let him finish out the season. I’m sure the plan is Lawson for 2025, why pull the trigger now? It’s a total disservice to one of the sport’s most beloved drivers.
I don't disagree with removing him during the season to get Lawson up to speed. But if they knew they were going to do it, they should have given Daniel a proper send off.
Kym Illman's video with Kym's photos and telling of the story was just heart breaking. Not often a 43 yo man tears up but it was choke up material thats for sure. Check it out if you can handle it. I'm gonna be that guy here and remind people that Daniel decided to leave Red Bull. Worst decision of his career and it's been an avalanche ever since. That's the only thing keeping me from losing it completely.
If Lawson jumps Tsunoda to get the Red Bull seat in 2025, I'm betting in 2026, Tsunoda will move to Aston because of the Honda-Aston partnership. Hopefully Honda can strongarm Big Stroll and successfully push baby Stroll out of his seat. It'll be the best news in the past decade when he leaves his seat.. He's completely undeserving of his Aston seat right now.
“Best news in the past decade” by a country mile is the introduction of the Halo after Jules tragic accident. Saved Leclerc at Spa, Zhou at Silverstone & especially Grosjean at Sakhir. Nothing wrong with not liking Lance but let’s not connect dots with invisible lines.
The biggest problem with him leaving like this isn't even the discontent of the public who adore him, it's the pathetic role that RB plays in the way they deal with their line-up of drivers. It's ridiculous. It's like an auction, threatening, torturing and completely disrespecting the drivers' work and history. And it's obvious that this "oh, we're grateful and bla bla bla" talk is bullshit. They were not at all professional. They could have given some consideration to his history with the team and in F1. But they didn't even do that. They treated him like trash. It's revolting. It's disloyal, shameful. They could have planned this carefully, done a more dignified and respectful end for him. Daniel deserved so much more. Shameful.
As an Englishman living in Australia for the entirety of Danny Ric's career I can honestly say that I love the guy. He is a brilliant human being and I look forward to seeing where he can take his effervescent personality. I truely hope that he can take that amazing attitude and shine a light on some other great motorsport categories that need it. DR3 you are loved and will be missed. Look at how they massacred my boy... The utter disrespect. Shades of what Renault did to Jolyon. Also if there was some kind of contractual obligation to give Lawson 5 races or something, then RB have known all year that this was going to happen, so I don't understand why they've done this. Sadly, it seems that Daniel lost something between the end of his spell at Renault in 2020 (I still remember him being very vocal about the Romain Grosjean crash during the Bahrain GP) and his McLaren years in 2022, like he lost - or forgot - some of his "Honey badger" fearlessness, hunger or something. Now, as for his release from his contract by Red Bull, the word who comes to my mind is "unceremoniously" as it is shamelful that "Danny Boy" didn't get to have a proper send-off like Seb had in 2022. 😐

Perez is a lead weight, and cost the team the constructors this year. He is the driver who should be out, he is far to comically hot/cold to be in a top team.
Danny Ricc is the reason I started watching F1. NGL I'm torn as to if I actually want to invest so much time in following F1 anymore.
The same happened with Mercedes and Niki Lauda btw, just a bit less pronounced than this is going to be
Mercedes would love to have you as a fan.

It's a true shame he was not able to finish this season and how Red Bull did him dirty not giving him a proper send off. After all this I want Danny to come to the US and do IndyCar, bring all the drive to survives fans with him. Do what Messi has done for MLS.
This season is exposing just how much a shambles Red Bull are
This just goes to show how little Red Bull thinks of their drivers, and it's not just Ricciardo.
Unless Jos is trying to make it all an organisation that’s centred around his son…
I think Max is reconsidered his allegiances right now.
First the team loses it’s head honcho in tragic circumstances, and then… well, this year happened.
Every dynasty must fall at some point. And I don’t think many will be sad to see Red Bull fall back to the field at this rate.
Mateschitz his fiery passion made them successful, ever since his passing its been an empty shell of what it once was.

Someone who lives in NZ. They should have let Danny Ric race in Austin (he is an Honorary Yank afterall) - then swapped Liam Lawson in.
Yes, that feels very much like a mean punishment to swap a driver before their favorite race where the crowd loves the driver back as well
Mean punishment in the sense of internal politics and corporate dynamics from the Redbull group

At the rate its going, i feel theres a fair chance Max will be leaving them after 2025 tbh
He will be missed. But he had his chance and didnt deliver. He still deserved a proper send off. But I´m also happy to see Liam now.
Lick the stamp and send it wherever it needs to go.
Look at how they massacred my boy... The utter disrespect.
Shades of what Renault did to Jolyon.
Also if there was some kind of contractual obligation to give Lawson 5 races or something, then RB have known all year that this was going to happen, so I don't understand why they've done this. Just feels vindictive.
They were waiting if DR can outperform Yuki. That was the only way DR can stay. Unfortunately as Daniel has said, he has underperformed.
Fans : RB f up this season...so sad. RB: We can do worse..watch this.
They gave him the Seargent treatment
Williams gave Daniel a nicer farewell than they gave Logan. Maybe Logan and Danny will go fishing together
Vcarb screwed him with a poor car and awful strategies. I guarantee if you put him in the RB he'd outperform Perez
I really do feel that all this is going to succeed in is turning people against Lawson. It's so awfully handled.
Unfortunately daniel killed his career when he left redbull because he didn't want to be a number 2 driver to max just for the end of his career to be trying to get back to redbull to become a number 2.
They could have fired Sergio Perez, promote Daniel to Red Bull for the remainer of the season, and hire Lawson to RB..
Exactly!!! Sergio is the least reliable of the bunch!
@@estherruth8337 And Daniel deserves to be tested in a competitive car!! I mean last year they claimed that he was doing perfect laps when he tried I don't remember which track which got Nyck De Vries fired..
From the calendar podcast, "EIGHTEEN AND A HALF HOURS" hahahahaahaa
Got me chortling 😂😂
Dan should be in F1 as an interviewer for drivers after races. Set up a new segment for post race. I’d love to see him taking digs at drivers, team principals etc.
He’s definitely the most liked and famous driver F1 has ever had.
His first talk show must be with Kimi 🤣😂
My God, that team has no heart. The complete lack of respect for a driver who has had a strong connection with them for many years aside, how can they treat his legion of fans like this??? Even if he’s not your favourite driver, the majority of F1 fans like Danny Ric. At least give the guy a proper send off. Poor, very poor.
Boycott Redbull energy drinks. Try Monsta instead. 😊
Danny Ric should leave F1 years ago. That would be appropriate send off.
Not saying Red Bull conducted themselves brilliantly, but I think there's more to this story than we know.
Matt, you cut the bit from the podcast where you said you're covered in "champagne... come" and you went on to so you had come from somewhere, but thank you for making my shriek with laughter at work 😂
Yes Daniel is loved. As an American and drive to survive getting me into the show Daniel was a huge part. I fell in love with the personality and toughness, watching him struggle but keep going. I just hope this doesn’t demonize Liam. He’s deserving. We’ve seen it. He deserves the chance. But Daniel deserved more. We deserved more as fans.
Breaking News: Toxic organization treats drivers badly. In other news: water is wet
Were the team negotiating out clauses with sponsors, so unable to announce anything
Perez is a lead weight, and cost the team the constructors this year. He is the driver who should be out, he is far to comically hot/cold to be in a top team. They should have tossed Dani into the RB for the last few races, since its already over and gives him a send-off, and used these races in the VCARB to prepare Lawson to take over the RB next year. And then the open VCARB seat next year to whoever.
Perez Sponsor/Merch money covers constructors, that's why Perez stays.
Ricciardo wouldn't have fared better than Checo.
Lawson needs more F1 experience in order to replace Checo.
All about the $$$ he brings in from Mexican sponsors.
NAH, BOTH OLD Men Needs to be out.
@@angelrobles7201 If I remember correctly Daniel Ricciardo has a similar driving style to max Verstappen compared to checo that has basically the complete opposite to Verstappen no? So wouldn't Daniel have done better because the car would be more how he wants it to?
Don't think a team have mishandled a driver this bad in the history of the sport, at least in recent times. For Redbull to do this to one of their own as well... It's absolutely pathetic.
They treated him like someone who stayed in F1 for one year and didn't score a point. He's been there for 13 years, had multiple wins, many podiums. That was absolutely the worst way to let him go. I'm heartbroken.
