The fact that they used this song, to me feels like they had already decided they weren't going to continue. This song was their farewell to the series, and it was quite honestly the best way they could have.
They wanted to end that season on a good note. As a love letter Which they did. And the next season was supposed to be almost all jokes. However they couldn't come up with jokes and got stuck. But this ended on a much more powerful note and they decided not to go through with it. Which I'm glad they didn't.

Team four star actually spoke about that in one of their podcast/ TH-cam shorts. They said the Toriyama staff that they were friends with absolutely loved it. They used to watch new episodes in the break room.
@Tristan Salagoste it's not funimation that had a big problem with tfs. In fact they were hired to do some Official voices for dbz Kai cell saga. It's Toui animation that hates TFS. Toui actually made funimation remove the tfs voice lines from Kai and reused the the original dbz voice lines
You know, despite how stupidly funny this abridge series is, I actually kinda admire this scene. I think the idea of a villain, who has done so many horrible things, dying before any of his goals are accomplished, who right at the end, can only feel satisfaction. He did everything his own way, even if it led him to death and failure, he can still feel satisfied, because he lived life his own way, and I kinda love that concept.
The aspect of inspiration found in a scene of an abridged series can be found all over the world in those of whom who were very successful they had some regrets but atleast they had done what they sought out to do
To be honest that’s kinda how DBZA go on. They are villain to Toei in term of business and thing(yeah they get a lot of copyright strike and sh1t). They hold on without backing out until they know, they can’t go on. However, they proud of their work and gracefully accept how it end.
I mean cell _did_ kill Goku, even if on Goku’s terms… So as far as his original intended purpose goes, Cell _WON,_ even if it wound up costing everything else he would had have for the future.

I still get chills from his rendition to this day. Perhaps it was helped by his characters and the shows perfect synergy with this song, but it will always be comparable to Sinatra’s own version, at least in my head.

Since DBZA is confirmed to be cancelled I feel this song is even more fitting now. While it’s sucks to hear we won’t get the buu saga I appreciate all the years of laughter you guys have provided through dbza and other projects. I look forward to all the stuff you’ll do in the future!
It's a testament to TeamFourStar's skill, making an absolutely despicable villain nonetheless enjoyable to watch, extremely quotable, and ultimately one I was sad to see go. But wow, he went out with class.

I'd like to point out that " My Way " is an extremely hard song to do, and I think Taka needs to be appreciated for making a song his own. This is one of the best renditions I've ever seen, and that's something to be proud of.
Its so Bittersweet seeing Cell go. He's been the villain of TFS for over 4 years. I remember how excited people were to see how TFS were going to do Cell. Even in his very first debut he was singing Mr. Sandman, Then P is for Perfect, and finally "My Way" The perfect end to a perfect villain.

Cell has always been an interesting character. Hes called perfect because of all the extraordinary traits from the greatest fighters, but he was doomed to their flaws too.
@Devan Hale well considering that they were legally prohibited from doing so for about a year and they also do the movies it's not that terrible of pacing. 4 guys writing 1 guy editing 4-8 voice actors per episode/movie and a handful of freelance animators.
This literally hit me hard not just because DBZA is canceled, but because this song truly did go with Cell. Also, the cover was actually amazing and showcased how much talent, dedication, and passion that Cell’s abridged voice actor had for this. Despite being a parody, this is also far better than most of the shitty modern music on the radio that people listen to nowadays. I was hoping they’d bring him back in the DBS: Super Hero movie but all we got was a Semi Perfect Cell with too much testosterone and Reee, but anyway I was blown away and honestly teared up listening to this. Fucking phenomenal.

I will have always wanted the Buu Saga but I understand the reasons you decided not to do it and accept them. Between burnout from working on DBZA for over a decade, the inherent danger being abridgers brings to their company and the fact that the Buu Saga as a whole just doesn't excite them like the other arcs has led them to the conclusion to consider DBZA finished with Ep 60's epilogue. There will (probably) still be some ShortZ though because they have some stories to tell and since it doesn't use the original footage it can't be copyright claimed off-handedly.
To the people who say that "My Way" was too long, take the time to recognize that this is basically Cell's final moment in DBZA; he's been with us for FOUR years. Four years of Cell, and now he's gone. And yes, I cried when this played; I'm going to miss Cell.

Yeah, if he didn't want to be a genocidal war machine as designed and actually live a peaceful and/or co-operative life like android 18 no one would accept him. Could you imagine Cell just being a member of the Z fighters or just being an actor for a movie (as the monster) or even just a typical employee? I highly doubt it would have worked out he had no choice in the matter.
I like that tfs made Cell seem like his own being. In the original he was still charismatic but still had that "mindless killing machine" aura around him. Tfs gave him human traits, he gets irritated at trivial things, he connects with other characters, he has likes and dislikes, but the best thing they gave him was a passion for music
This so much. The coolness of the original character really masks how much of a drone he is, in a way enslaved both by Gero’s preprogramming and even his own genetic composition. TFS did one simple thing: made Cell self-aware. You get the feeling that with quiet reflection and plenty of CBT, this Cell might have been able to overcome his evil compulsions if he was willing to. And when he chooses not to and sings about how he wouldn’t have changed anything, I can say “that was a proper villainous bastard”. While OG Cell for me never had a chance…kinda makes me feel sorry for him.
Have never watched DBZ abridged. Have never even watched DBZ. But even with that, I find myself coming back to this cover again and again. There is just so much passion in his voice. Master class of a song.
if you ever decide to watch dbza, have a little tolerance. It starts out a bit weak but it progressively gets better and never stops getting better. it's like the series itself has saiyan blood.
as sad as it is, the fact that TFS has officially stopped doing DBZA has made this song only more appropriate over the years. The last few episodes were made with such love and passion that they really did go out doing it their way and i think thats pretty beautiful
Yeah, TFS did it Their Way. It was great. What makes the song interesting, though, is that Cell didn't go out the way he desired, or was programmed to desire. That way was dying to Son Goku after a lengthy, glorious battle that also killed Goku. Instead, Goku backed out, sent in his son, who turned out to be strong enough to TOY with Cell, who then killed him after Cell gave up everything he had been manipulated to work towards by Gero to just be done with this shit and kill everything, because Goku was already dead. He was trying to give himself some comfort in his ironic death. It's always irked me, but now that this could be grafted on to TFS, not Cell, it works a little better.
Honestly tfs portrayed Perfect Cell the best imo. When I look at Perfect Cell I imagine a humorous and sarcastic chill bad guy. Not a really serious one that's full of himself and his own perfection like the real Cell is.

Canon Cell was built as a perfect fighter. An unstoppable killing machine, nothing more than an autonomous weapon. Weapons have no need for charm DBZA Cell isn't the perfect life form: he's the perfect _villain._ Perfectly evil, perfectly charming, perfectly powerful, perfectly defeatable. He succeeded in this type of perfection by bringing a perfect conclusion to the series, and giving perfect character development to everyone.
While listening I was like, ‘Oh such touching song and wonderful voice..’ and yet the LYRIC said “I ate it up and spit it out!” I woke up ‘Ok, he’s Cell. Yup.’

There was nothing wrong with Abridged Frieza at all, the main appeal for him was his breakdown of sanity from fighting Goku. Cell suffered no such loss of sanity, he was himself all to the end and even sang about it

I always think of a bunch of flash backs to the things cell is referring to when he sings this.
Curtis makes me shed a tear while listening to this, Sinatra doesn't. I mean, that's saying something...

It's a testament to TeamFourStar's skill, making an absolutely despicable villain nonetheless enjoyable to watch, extremely quotable, and ultimately one I was sad to see go. But wow, he went out with class.
I mean, if they can make Nappa memorable even after all these years, Im pretty sure Cell would be cemented in TFS history as the best villain in the TFS series.

Its so Bittersweet seeing Cell go. He's been the villain of TFS for over 4 years. I remember how excited people were to see how TFS were going to do Cell. Even in his very first debut he was singing Mr. Sandman, Then P is for Perfect, and finally "My Way" The perfect end to a perfect villain.

This literally hit me hard not just because DBZA is canceled, but because this song truly did go with Cell. Also, the cover was actually amazing and showcased how much talent, dedication, and passion that Cell’s abridged voice actor had for this. Despite being a parody, this is also far better than most of the shitty modern music on the radio that people listen to nowadays. I was hoping they’d bring him back in the DBS: Super Hero movie but all we got was a Semi Perfect Cell with too much testosterone and Reee, but anyway I was blown away and honestly teared up listening to this. Fucking phenomenal.

@@immalemonnyyy7967 Because Ep 60 and the Cell Saga in general is a perfect close out for DBZA. Between burnout from working on DBZA for over a decade, the inherent danger being abridgers brings to their company and the fact that the Buu Saga as a whole just doesn't excite them like the other arcs has led them to the conclusion to consider DBZA finished with Ep 60's epilogue. There will (probably) still be some ShortZ though because they have some stories to tell and since it doesn't use the original footage it can't be copyright claimed off-handedly.
They promised us a gohan movie and by god we better get it DX

Yeah, if he didn't want to be a genocidal war machine as designed and actually live a peaceful and/or co-operative life like android 18 no one would accept him. Could you imagine Cell just being a member of the Z fighters or just being an actor for a movie (as the monster) or even just a typical employee? I highly doubt it would have worked out he had no choice in the matter.
I like that tfs made Cell seem like his own being. In the original he was still charismatic but still had that "mindless killing machine" aura around him. Tfs gave him human traits, he gets irritated at trivial things, he connects with other characters, he has likes and dislikes, but the best thing they gave him was a passion for music
This so much. The coolness of the original character really masks how much of a drone he is, in a way enslaved both by Gero’s preprogramming and even his own genetic composition.
TFS did one simple thing: made Cell self-aware. You get the feeling that with quiet reflection and plenty of CBT, this Cell might have been able to overcome his evil compulsions if he was willing to. And when he chooses not to and sings about how he wouldn’t have changed anything, I can say “that was a proper villainous bastard”. While OG Cell for me never had a chance…kinda makes me feel sorry for him.

Have never watched DBZ abridged. Have never even watched DBZ. But even with that, I find myself coming back to this cover again and again. There is just so much passion in his voice. Master class of a song.
I'd recommend giving the abridged a shot, never watched the original either but I loved it
You're missing out. If you must, save it for a rainy day, front the beginning I would recommend.
You can save some time and watch DBZ abridged KAI, which is basically them recapping the all the jokes in less than 10 minutes
if you ever decide to watch dbza, have a little tolerance. It starts out a bit weak but it progressively gets better and never stops getting better. it's like the series itself has saiyan blood.

as sad as it is, the fact that TFS has officially stopped doing DBZA has made this song only more appropriate over the years. The last few episodes were made with such love and passion that they really did go out doing it their way and i think thats pretty beautiful
Yeah, TFS did it Their Way. It was great. What makes the song interesting, though, is that Cell didn't go out the way he desired, or was programmed to desire. That way was dying to Son Goku after a lengthy, glorious battle that also killed Goku. Instead, Goku backed out, sent in his son, who turned out to be strong enough to TOY with Cell, who then killed him after Cell gave up everything he had been manipulated to work towards by Gero to just be done with this shit and kill everything, because Goku was already dead. He was trying to give himself some comfort in his ironic death.
It's always irked me, but now that this could be grafted on to TFS, not Cell, it works a little better.
Honestly tfs portrayed Perfect Cell the best imo. When I look at Perfect Cell I imagine a humorous and sarcastic chill bad guy. Not a really serious one that's full of himself and his own perfection like the real Cell is.

He succeeded in this type of perfection by bringing a perfect conclusion to the series, and giving perfect character development to everyone.

I really love this in Cell's character. He wasnt whining about his supposed perfection in the original. Here, there are NO regrets about his loss. He did what he wanted and he died with his diginity and style in contact. That's what taking an L is all about!

There was nothing wrong with Abridged Frieza at all, the main appeal for him was his breakdown of sanity from fighting Goku.
Cell suffered no such loss of sanity, he was himself all to the end and even sang about it
