I have a SE DGT and a SE Pauls guitar. Love them both. Like the true single coil sound on the Paul’s guitar, but, the humbucker sound better on the DGT. Both guitars feel great in the hand and play well.
Nice video, I have 5 PRS, SE Paul's, which I played on the Blush Hollow Band album, my favorite, yet I love all my prs, s2 mccarty 594, se soapbar, se 245, se zach, and yes I own vintage fender Gibson. All great stuff. Now i need to play more...😊
First thing I changed out were the tuners, I have the PRS SE 24-08, I really like the Paul's guitar as well but wasn't available at the time in my area and I would have to wait like 6 months, so I opted for the 24-08. Great guitar
Thanks, its a great track. I was hesitant given that I'm not anywhere near the guitarists he's had play on it but it seemed a good test demo for the PRS.
nice video, Ive been wondering if I preferred the Pauls SE over the 2 new ones too. Ive spent time with them all but over several months not all at once haha
I initially watched your review 4 months ago when I was trying to decide between buying these 3 SE guitars. We don't have any PRS guitars locally, so it's not possible to experience and compare them myself. I went with the SE Paul's thanks to your review and others, and I love it! It's probably my favorite guitar compared to my Fender AM Pro II, PRS SE Hollowbody II Piezo, and Epiphone Les Paul Modern although I do like them all. I love the way it feels (amazing fret work and neck shape), the great sounding tones in both HB and SC modes, and the versatility of pickup mode selections. The included gig bag is very well made, padded, and comfortable to carry with lots of space for accessories. Thank you for the detailed comparison!
I love my PRS SE Paul's & DGT, they are both awesome instruments, just designed for different tasks imho. The neck on THE DGT feels slightly better than the Paul, but extremely happy with both, they are my go to guitars along with my SE Silver Sky
I'm looking at getting a PRS SE for my next guitar and the three you listed in the video title are all in the front running. One question about the bridge on the Paul's Guitar model...with no adjustable saddles, no intonation is possible...did you find that an issue? Nice video, BTW!
I've found that the fretwork on all the SEs are good. Most need some work on the nut to lower the strings but once you do that the action can get pretty low.
Hi. I like how the se 594 sounds because my main genre is hard rock. But the 594 neck is too big for my hand. Which one would you recommend between the se Pauls and se dgt to play hard rock? Thanks
There are many reviews of se dgt in youtube but none of them are showing it playing rock type of music 😅. But since you played all of them, i guess i give se dgt a shot. Thanks
@@nh8781 I think either would work. They all have a similar tone to the pickups. The 594 is a short scale, but I think the DGT is going to get you closer to that 594, Les Paul kind of thing.
@@nh8781here is a GREAT video of the DGT SE vs a Gibson Les Paul, goes through lots of rock tones too. It made me sell my LP, buy a second DGT and a McCarty 594 double cut th-cam.com/video/9VJqRp8i7Wc/w-d-xo.html
I just picked up a mint used paul’s guitar from GC for $599. I think the guy just bought it and set it up, because the set up is dead on perfect, no scratches, and the plastic is still on it. It has ruined my other guitars.
I feel like I'm one of the only ones who thinks the SE guitars just look and feel like toys. Get the job done but don't feel like full instruments. Love the way some of the cores play and sound, I love my kiesels, and as much as I would want to love the SE's they just feel...well like little toys in comparison
"Toys"... this is not the first time I have read this attribute in relation to the PRS SE series. And a professional musician I hold in high esteem told me that they lack the “consistency” of their U.S.-made sisters. Before I bought an SE 594 Double Cut I went around various stores, going to try Core and S2 also in A/B comparisons. But, it may be that I am a raw amateur, but I could not hear such differences that I would choose to spend more on something that to me is more esoteric than real.
I almost got a Paul’s instead of my McCarty 594. The fretboard on the Paul’s just wasn’t as nice, so matter how many I played. I also found the higher register a little more cramped than on the McCarty. Those pickups do rip though!
Interesting. There was a Core Paul's hanging right next to the SE when I bought this. Beautiful guitar but the $4k price tag kept me from even checking it out.
@@davlavmusic7070 the original narrowfields from the 408s sounded way better than the current core narrowfields do. They sounded very similar to the TCI “S” pickups, aka fucking awesome. Shame they went with a different tone for the cores
@@JoonKimDMD promise. The TCI S pickups are really well developed. @@thenumber1bobo dang, you know so much that I don't know about. I am on the fence about buying either SE DGT or CE24. I was gonna get S2, but S2 has the same pickups as SE (except 10th anniversary which has the same price as CE24) so I didn't see the point of paying twice. Excellent review! Probably I'll buy it after watch your video. Best Regards from Argentina!
You have helped me to choose because I have been struggling as to which one.
I have a video dropping tomorrow with direct comparisons between the DGT, Paul's, and SAS.

Yes, I'm having some trouble with intonation. Thinking about swapping the bridge.
I just replaced the bridge. You can see/hear the results here: th-cam.com/video/IX7w6n0z-bA/w-d-xo.html
Thank you
Thank you for the review and tones! What were you using for your signal chain?
I use a Quad Cortex. For the crunch tones, I was likely using a capture I did of my Victory Jack preamp.
Cool thanks for the info@@davlavmusic7070
Question: is the neck gloss for the DGT and Paul's guitar? I know the McCarty 594 is gloss.
Yes, they are gloss.
How's the string action can you get it pretty low without any fret buzz, I like my action on the low side. Are those frets medium large or jumbo size.
I've found that the fretwork on all the SEs are good. Most need some work on the nut to lower the strings but once you do that the action can get pretty low.

I sold my Paul’s because me and the body shape just didn’t jive.
I've had similar experiences with the Sterling Majesty I had, and my Les Paul, to be honest. Neither sat comfortably on my lap to play.
