Great video, thank you! To solve the "third hand" problem on the high side MOSFETs could you connect the multimeter lead to the 12 volt input connector - just push it down beside the pin? Regards, David

There is an easier way to check MOSFETs with a DMM, but this is an interesting approach as you're turning ON the device. Will have to play with this a bit. Thx.
A good tool for this is micro pincer test leads. They are very small and grasp pins securely. Or grab a Peak DCA55 which will do all sorts of testing. Both are indispensable.

I tried your method and works but i i find a better way using a bench power supply. Just connect the (-) to the motherboard ground and inject 5v to the gate. Then with multimiter on ohms scale check if they open. To be safe, limit the current on power supply to 100ma and increase current (amps) as necessary.

thanks for your videos I learn a lot and I have some of the same devices myself, there are still some things I need to check and I also have this motherboard and I will add a video to the hard drive for the future if it breaks so that I can rebuild the PC faster with the same video as the motherboard

One schematic is missing to explain why we can test high side the same way. Please explain us.
Richard what about testing MOSFETs with an in circuit ESR meter? the output of that meter is a 1 kHz sine wave with a very low voltage output that will not turn on any transistors or MOSFETs in circuit , if the metre reads very low ohms or beeps as my metre does, we assume the MOSFET is shorted. Just my thoughts after watching your video...Your videos do inspire me with creative ideas🙂

Hello, it can use diode mode with one probe, as Com goes to Source via the other multimeter (ground contact)
