As i was watching this i noticed something kinda absurd to think about. Of the 9 on this list, only one of them is on the list of 2k rushers, that being Terrell Davis, and in his case he got both 2k and 20+ Rush TDs, 2 rings, and an MVP in only 6 years (technically only 4 years cuz he only started 9 games in his last 2 years, so thats even more mind boggling)
That's crazy right, you'd think the king would have done it once or someone in almost 18 years. I'd bet we see it this year if cmc stays healthy and maybe even the king can get it done. Mostert almost did it last year so there could be an unknown like that.
The 2000's were such a great time to be an NFL fan. The passing game was popping off, but the running game was still important. Big, hard hits were still common and we didn't quite know yet how dangerous and damaging they really were.
Going back and watching old highlights/games from college and NFL games from the 2000s that what i noticed. I noticed that the passing game was more exciting. You had more high risk high reward throws as opposed to shorter less riskier passes that you have seen in the modern game
It was the best. You had QBs sniffing 5000 yards most years (Bress getting it in 08) as well as multiple rbs rushing for over 1500 yards. Last year even with an extra game you saw neither lol.
Naw I think they’ll always have a role the problem is offenses prefer faster backs because the league is so pass heavy we still have teams who run a lot still tho and I think we always will
Man 90s-2000s RBs are my favorite breed of football players of all time. Unfortunately I don’t think we’ll see another 20+ rush TD season. Not to discredit the incredible QBs and WRs we have nowadays, but with all the soft pass interference, helmet/defenseless receiver, and roughing the passer calls, it’s so much less risk to pass in todays game. Both players are untouchable. You can get down the field without even having a completion lol
It’s crazy how the RB/HB position is so undervalued these days. When I was growing up in the 80’s & 90’s that was one of the highest valued positions. I miss the big power backs like Bo Jackson. I miss the juke moves of a Barry Sanders or the all around game if Emitt Smith. We’re some great days of watching strong, fast and shifty running backs.
They are undervalued for a reason. Nobody today is built to take the pounding the backs 25 years ago took. Availability is the best ability and most backs today can't be bell cows.
3.5 per carry. He was getting a lot of 1 yard td's. Jalen Hurts had 15 td's as a QB. That should tell u all u need to know. A RB today is not starting averaging just 3.5 ypc let alone get over 350 carries.
I did a project on this in my college algebra class in 2007 by charting the touchdown leaders year by year showing how it consistently increases. My conclusion on it was that even though the math shows that touchdowns will continue to rise year after year I believe that trend will stop due to teams going to a backfield by committee approach and along with more passing in the red zone. If LT’s record will be broken it will likely be done by a wide receiver or a hybrid player that will have double digit rushing and receiving touchdowns.
Not the point of this video(referencing the Washington and Oakland SB) but one underated thing about the NFL post-free angency(starting in 93) was the fact it stopped the era of Super Bowl blowouts. That has to be a huge reason why up until the early 90s most super bowls were uncompetitive
The RB is still very valuable, especially in short yardage situations and ball control. History tells us theyre valuable thats why management won't sign them to max contracts. If you feed a great RB the ball he will get at least 1500 yards and double figures in TD's. That means you would have to pay the QB AND the RB top money.
Fun fact: Josh Allen has more rushing td’s in his career than CMC….but he’s overrated lol. Funner fact: Jim Harbaugh has more career rushing yards than Bo Jackson.
Here some crazy facts for a qb . Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles holds the NFL record for the most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in a season with 15. Cam Newton rushed for 14 touchdowns in a season for the Carolina Panthers in 2011, which was the NFL record He also rushed for 12 tds for new England one year
Not sure this is as impressive as many might believe. Often times a workhorse running back would gain the bulk of the yardage, and then another back will score the touchdown. Usually teams would have a red zone offensive scoring package… Many times you would see a back scamper off a long run of sixty, seventy yards or more, only to be taken down inside the twenty, only to have another back punch in the scoring run. When Emmitt Smith broke Riggins record, the Cowboys were actively trying to give that honour to Smith. As for Holmes and Johnson, both were on the Chiefs between the 2002 and 2005 when they both achieved this feat, which could be attributed as much to the offensive line, as it was for Smith with the Cowboys… Tomlinson, Alexander, and even Terrell Davis, those three specifically were simply anomalies. Davis particularly, was never quite the same after his leg injury the following season after literally posting the BEST Running Back season of all time (2,000+ Yards | 20+ Touchdowns | Second consecutive Super Bowl Victory)… 🤔
I'm going to like and comment on any vid that talks about how good my man LITTLE TRAIN was. Morris's 85 Giants team is the reason I'm a Giant's fan today...well mainly the 86 Sox and ....well kind of long story....
In my opinion I think we might see a quarter back like Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts or Justin fields get 20 rushing touchdowns before a running backs do it even though Moster was close last year and Henry might do it this year
Idk if we are going to see one ever again! Not many work horse running backs anymore. Since he is my guy tho, it’s Bijan Robinson. I saw into the future and week 2 against the eagles he scoring 3.
If anyone has a chance to do this for the 24 season, my vote would be Derrick Henry for Baltimore. He’s probably not going to rush for +2,000 yards but he could be a goal line specialist like late career Jerome Bettis or the way Jamal Williams was for Detroit a few years ago
B Robinson has the least amount of TD's taken away by QB, and while Atlanta has weapons, not as many as San Fran. I dont think anyone will do it again for a while, but there is my guess. I like Gibbs but too many goal line touches for Montgomery.
Those Tomlinson, Adrian Peterson, Priest Holmes years were great.

It is mind-blowing to me that we haven't seen another player scoring 20+ rushing touchdowns since 2006...
08 is when I started to notice a shift to more passing. Of course that trend has only increased since then. That could have something to do with it.
@@raymondsmith2040d Henry got to 2k with 17 tds almost !

Derrick Henry’s best days are behind him
Those were three greats. I would add Eric Dickerson, curt warner, and my all

Holmes did it twice! Would have 3 times in a row too with 14 in 8 games.

31 tds by a non QB is insane!
Its interesting that at a time when passing stats were starting to explode league wide we got some of the most impressive rushing seasons of all time.
This the era I grew up in
Mostert came close last season with 18. Unreal he had his break out season at 32 yrs old
I miss LT 2,300+ All purpose yards with 31 tds is some madden shit
CMC not even top 25 all time idk how great he really is. He only rush for over 1000 in 4 seasons
