  • A sledge hammer up front, a machete on the rear.
The Starling Cycles Twist is the love-child of a Swoop and a Murmur with a monster-truck 29″ wheel up front and a fast, fun and flicky 27.5″ wheel out back.

Hey there at starling, i'm wondering if the brazing is a failing mode on the longevity side. Steel has very good cycle fatigue but i think the braze material maybe doesn't since its a copper alloy. I just want a really long living bike and thought maybe from that point of view welding ist better? This is just a theoretical approach.. what can you tell me from your experience? Is it safe to ride one of your frames for maybe 20 years? Ive been riding my mc fury which is an aluminum alloy frame for about ten years now, sometimes not on a very regular basis but still i'm expecting it to fail at some point since Aluminum has no real good high cycle fatigue characteristics. I now want a bike not to worry about. Thank you a lot!

Markus, best to email me via the website and I'll give you an answer. But brass is a ductile material, so will have good longevity. Brazed steel bike have been around for years, and many of them still are!!

Mullet is a bike company. You guys should call your mixed wheel bike a 79er, MX, Asymmetrical or Mixed Wheel. Also, there's a new material called "Aluminum". It doesn't corrode and is much lighter/stiffer then Chinese Steel... You guys should check it out!
