It was called 7 Up when I was in school (7 students go up) and we'd say (in unison), "heads down, thumbs up, it's time to play 7 up!". The more students up, the more students get to participate.
I doubt it's an ESL classroom game, because it has nothing to do with learning English and this activity doesn't have an academic value. It doesn't even give students an opportunity to produce the language.
The video is just how to set up the game. How to use in class, depends on level, target language etc. For example, when students guess, they can ask "Did you touch my thumb?" - "Yes, I did. / No, I didn't", or some other variation. There are many ways to use this and have students use english language in a natural way. It's a versatile game. Anyway, I understand your point and it's not the best game to practice speaking. It is fun though, and students love it! Great of you've got 5 minutes spare at end of class. Thanks for watching.
Haha. Yeah, In my experience, grade 4 and above can play this game well, but younger grades find it hard to control themselves. I recommend the 'pass the ball' game with grade 1. We have a video you can use with that game. if you search 'games4esl pass the ball' you will find it. Thanks for watching!
@@Games4esl I need something for 5th graders. I'm stuck with them for the next 4 days and kids these days have no imagination. They got all tripped out with phone cups.
This game is ridiculous. The kid tries to pick who picked them? But nobody else can confirm if it's true or not since everyone had their eyes closed ! HA
Do you play this game in your class?
yes
I did, not in school anymore.
Hopefully we can be back in classrooms in the future. :(
Games4esl no I’m just not in school.
0:21 for me it’s four or five because I had a class if 30

He has given you the tips as a good teacher that you are you can fit in the vocabulary or sentences
Before you start any subject to teach you should do some activities like Ice breaking games..to get student's concentration.
Learning is not always necesssary...sometimes students need presence of mind..and fun activity also.. i liked this game...!!
I love this game in my class but my teacher forgot about it
Good video 😊
We used this game to teach kids about good touch and bad touch.
Nice video
I tried this with 1st graders. All they do is cheat, and if you call them out they cry.

The teacher confirms it!
The goal is to produce English phrases and or sentences. Guessing who touched them is simply just for fun.
It’s basically called heads up 7 up
nice montage
🎉
What is the purpose of this game?
Yeah like seriously 😂😂
Obviously it’s to touch thumbs
Sense of Interaction among the classmates is tested here!
