      There are loads of different types of metal detectors at all sorts of price ranges from a few hundreds to nearly $10,000 in price. Most can be broken down into portable forms. Still, choosing the best metal detector for you is something that you need to consider for yourself - your budget, what you want to do with your detector, etc. I did a video on how to choose the best metal detector for you - you can find it here: th-cam.com/video/EF4oFvSHbJo/w-d-xo.html

    What is the best way to turn that black sulfide into silver and gold (away from acids and cyanide)?? I keep finding it almost everywhere !!

    • @ChrisRalph
      @ChrisRalph  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      You can smelt it or you can leach with a non-toxic leaching agent. I will be coming out shortly with a video on non-toxic leaching of silver and gold. I will start out with silver and later videos will include gold.

    • @S13402

      @@ChrisRalph true, but if you find a sample of that black sulfide that is not mixed with quartz or any other material,, can direct fire with no flux (like using oxygen torch) change it into metallic form?

      No sulfide can be "turned to gold and silver". You can try to release the gold in its structure if there is any at all.@@S13402

    Fascinating video! As a new resident of Nevada, I’m like a kid in a candy store learning about my new state. Last year I drove through Virginia City for the first time. So interesting to hear some of the history of the area-can’t wait to go back! You got an audible “WOW!” out of me with theflywheel photo. Also loved the photo of the stulls (spelling?) ; I can’t imagine of the amount of work to fell the trees, move them to the shafts, and put them securely in place. So much respect for those miners! You have provided lots of incentive for me to start visiting local museums (I used to work in a small history museum in Northern California). And I’m going to find a mine dump to explore. Don’t particularly care about finding gold, but I’d be thrilled just to find interesting rocks. Love to poke around in the earth! Thank you!

    I have a question about a canyon I know in utah. Up towards the head it has some hot Sulphur springs. Could this be a good area for gold and minerals?

    • @ChrisRalph
      @ChrisRalph  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just having a hot springs nearby does not guarenteee the likelihood of minerals. Yellowstone has a zillion hot springs over many square miles - but no known metal deposits in the park. At Yellowstone, the likely mineral deposits are perhaps 1000 feet or more below the surface.

    do you have to crush the piece to powder for asay. ,you should see some remnants go to the side of your pan. ??? ,or like rhyolite micro gold. ???

    • @ChrisRalph
      @ChrisRalph  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To do a real assay it must be crushed. it is heavy and will show up in a pan, but just because you have dark sulfides in a pan, that does not mean its silver.

    IF... what you've shown us for silver ores holds true for silver ores in most of the United States.... I've.... Stumbled across so many outcrops of rich silver ore that I feel sick for not realizing it... And worse... It's been enough years that now I have to figure out where I seen all of it... But it makes sense now.

    Hi there is a Mine in a small town in Western Australia not far from my small town with the biggest Lithium mine in Australia. This Gold Mine is Producing Millions of Ounces of Gold plus Copper and several rare Earth minerals. Its explanation and formation of Gold and Copper is dry remarkable in how several Major Crustacean events over several major periods in ancient history of Plate tectonics is very cool. I’m sure you are very busy, however if you find the time it could prove to be very interesting to your self and I’m sure your audience. Also in the direct area high levels of Silver are in the region with at least another 10 areas in this local south west corridor that promise to Put WESTERN AUSTRALIA AS TRULY ONE OF THE GREATEST LAND MASSES OF VAST QUANTITIES OF GOLD JUST WAITING TO BE MINED. Plus Melbourne Victoria is looking set to have new major Gold Rushes ….tho not like the Gold Rushes of the past. In Australia known World class mass deposits of Gold is sadly kept out of the hands of any small league player ?? Such is life. Still plenty of Gold and Good living for those who Prospect for a living. Cheers love your channel.❤❤👍👍👍🇦🇺

    You forgot the Cartwright myth. It's totally counter-factual. Virginia City of TV frame is a cattle town. Heh.
    Cartwright, if he'd existed, would've sold every cow to Virginia City -- and as a rancher -- he'd be a nobody.
    Virginia City was an IRISH town -- as was Oakland in the Bay Area. These souls are still recorded in the Census.

    Right on Chris. Great video, and if you care to share.... may I ask how long does it take you to produce a vid like this one? Also, the photo of the 20 or so miners at the Comstock, looking at those fellas...man, they were tough, hard nose, every joint on the body callased and bloody. The amount of pay material they were mining had to be phenomenal because they look like happiest group of miners for sure😁 The bare chested gents banging the chissels were just human and all humans are born sinners and when the Fever incubates the way you know it does, Mr R...The less clothing on an infected fellla,. the less likely hed end up in Mr Comstock's interrogation and reclamation chambers😂Thanks again Chris, really enjoyed this one.
