In the 80s and 90s there was more American and European cartoons with animal characters than with humans so its stupid that animal characters is seen as such a weird thing that people want to avoid nowadays. Nobody felt that there was anything weird or bad about human like animals in the past and there was nothing weird or bad about making the female characters hot either like people think these days and i guess thats the reason why characters like this is so taboo nowadays. It did not matter if it was human, animal, alien or robot if it was female it was made to be attractive. The only female characters that were not supposed to be hot in old cartoons, comics, video games and live-action shows and movies were comic relief characters and old ladys. Its only very recently that kind of stuff became seen as a bad thing here in the west.

Dude, we think the same. Watching and listening to the conversations in this anime made me feel like I was in front of pretty natural conversations. I haven't felt this in other anime.

It’s kinda a parody comedy that takes place in Japanese hell It can be pretty weird and there’s definitely references/jokes that a typical western/other foreign audience probably wouldn’t get, so they’d just find it weird or boring Though I personally really liked that anime lol
Man the symbolism in the intro is so simple yet so good I love the hippo kid getting inflated by his smartphone, also the seemingly stray cat in the Walrus's closet and the cat person near the end tails look and move a similar way. A-Tier anime so far.
I was a fool to ignore this show for so long. Being able to binge the entire show all at once was great, but it must've been MADDENING to have to watch this from week to week! An experience I'll never have the chance to get (until the next one comes along).
@@johntitor1054 Yeah it's a bit more grounded in reality when it comes to dialogue and interactions, and there's something more mature going on in the plot that's being teased, though we don't know how dark it's going to be.
This is gonna be one of those animes where people will pick up in 2 - 3 years. It brings me sadness that at the moment it is only rating a 7.4 on MAL and then people wonder why we get Isekai animes all the time.

Knowing how smart this show is at one point Odokawa sees the news of the missing girl and says “not her.” Knowing his mind there is a strong chance she is still alive perhaps idk how they’d explain the whole killing of her maybe a double or a fake

I went into this thinking it was an episodic anime where every episode has a different customer and a new story It turned out to be even better, especially the final episode, it really nails the feeling of finality that every story should have at the end
This anime is basically a citypop album come to life. It seems mundane, but makes it all relatable and relaxing on the surface. Only when you actually look into it do you see the darker side of what it was all wrapped in.
I love the way things begun to fit together like puzzle pieces towards the end while expanding the picture being made. I actually really enjoyed that episode, excited for more.
It's been less than a year and this opening is so nostalgic already. Loved this anime so much and will be forevermore recommending it to others. If you haven't watched it already, trust me you won't be dissapointed.
I never know what I should expect from this show from the trailers, the opening sounding more like an ending shouldn't even surprise me at this point and it's amazing
The whole production of this anime was pure art. The multiple mediums, the deep attention to detail, the great story telling, the clever mysteries. Great stuff. Will always be one I recommend to friends
@@atmmachine11 You just have to look. It reminds me of how people say "anime is trash nowadays" and completely miss out on great stuff like this. You just have to put an effort into looking or ask a big community for suggestions instead of watching the popular ones.
@@Model_BT-7274 I know what you mean and I'm a big fan of Odd Taxi, what I meant is that when a new season of Anime roll around, out of say 100 new Anime, only around 3 are creative/well written. So you have to dig through a pile of garbage to find the hidden gems.
It's an anime original that isn't marketed towards a wide audience, so people haven't been talking it up much. Even if it does well, unfortunately it'll still only be a hidden gem.

Anyone else find it odd there's a normal cat in the beginning of this OP? Like in a world where the characters are animals its kind of odd there's a cat without any human characteristics. Kinda supports the theory that Odokawa is hallucinating everyone as animals
Not really. If you go back and watch scenes that show Odokawa driving the taxi and look at the back seat windows, the silhouette of the passengers are human
A theory is that Odokawa have some problem in it's brain, and think of people as Animals. That's why he can recognize people by their faces, because they are a different animal. Sometimes there are hints to it that the people in the anime are animals, but sometimes it doesn't add up. Strange theory, but we'll know it in 5 weeks eventually.
Crazy Theory/foreshadowing The taxi driver outside of his car first attempts to lure the cat(the missing girl which is also a black cat) but ends up running away. He gets in the car presumably to chase her, and the shot with the cat opening its mouth could be a cry for help. IDK probably over thinking this. I’m honestly kind of hooked since I’m already guessing on what’s gonna happen.
It's shown that is exactly the case though. 1. The protagonists childhood flashbacks involve humans 2. Remember when Tanaka (the mobile addicted cat) was wearing a mask Odaka and Dobu were looking at the CTV footage of the club. And they debate whether it is Yano (the porcupine) under the mask. Even though the tail and ears are shown on the CTV footage 3. There was a heavy pause when Odaka told Yamamoto (the manager of the dance group) about the 'Calico cat'. As if the agent did not understand when he was in the cab with the main character

This might be one of the best titles I've watched, and I mostly stuck to legendary ones. It's pure gold, and might just be the best 2021 has to offer at this point.

Just finished this anime today words can’t describe how good it is some people may criticize the amount of twists it throws at you but each one is extremely well written and presented
This has very quickly become my favorite anime opening of all time. Not even because of the song (which is a complete vibe), but rather because it just straight-up tells you EVERYTHING about the plot, right under your nose without you even realizing.
I finished the anime and now I suffer because it is so peaceful with a nice vibe to watch it leaves you wanting more, and this opening is a masterpiece. Odd Taxi is by far one of the best in recent years.
If anyone is worried about diving into this anime, so far the first episode has implied some things, but there's nothing explicit yet. It's also actually pretty funny if you share the taxi driver character's sarcasm.
I know this show starts off slow, and the first few episodes might drive you off, BUT PLEASE GIVE ODD TAXI A CHANCE. Almost every character so far has an origin story that leads to them being tangled into the main plot, and this quiet citylife ramps up and turns into a mystery thriller that'll leave you hungry for the next episode.

This is one of thise animes where you really do gotta pay attention to the dialogue, which is something I like. I've kept notes of each episode.
We got a character who raps all of his lines and it somehow works. The dialogue is on point

Just finished the anime and I highly recommend it. The plot twist was insane and the character writings are top notch. S tier OP too, what more can you ask for.
Anyone else find it odd there's a normal cat in the beginning of this OP? Like in a world where the characters are animals its kind of odd there's a cat without any human characteristics. Kinda supports the theory that Odokawa is hallucinating everyone as animals

It doesn't have to be a hallucination, though. I think it was in Cars some cars owned cars. Maybe the show is throwing us for a loop.

Not really. If you go back and watch scenes that show Odokawa driving the taxi and look at the back seat windows, the silhouette of the passengers are human
A theory is that Odokawa have some problem in it's brain, and think of people as Animals.
That's why he can recognize people by their faces, because they are a different animal.
Sometimes there are hints to it that the people in the anime are animals, but sometimes it doesn't add up.
Strange theory, but we'll know it in 5 weeks eventually.
It's really fun how you understand more and more about this op the more episodes you've watched
The opening lured me in when I watched the first episode, the mystery and how the story progressed with each character is what kept me intrigued
Crazy Theory/foreshadowing
The taxi driver outside of his car first attempts to lure the cat(the missing girl which is also a black cat) but ends up running away. He gets in the car presumably to chase her, and the shot with the cat opening its mouth could be a cry for help.
IDK probably over thinking this. I’m honestly kind of hooked since I’m already guessing on what’s gonna happen.
The cats tail can be seen in the sliding door that matches his place. This is at the back of his mind.

Finally got around to watching this absolute masterpiece of set up and pay off. Hope we get to see more shows like this in the future

It's shown that is exactly the case though.
1. The protagonists childhood flashbacks involve humans
2. Remember when Tanaka (the mobile addicted cat) was wearing a mask Odaka and Dobu were looking at the CTV footage of the club. And they debate whether it is Yano (the porcupine) under the mask. Even though the tail and ears are shown on the CTV footage
3. There was a heavy pause when Odaka told Yamamoto (the manager of the dance group) about the 'Calico cat'. As if the agent did not understand when he was in the cab with the main character
Maybe but don't forget Disney's characters are anthropomorphic and it still has normal animals too

Animation/story/vibe/music/plot twist this anime ace a 10/10 in all category i still have good memories of it

the final revelation, showing who actually killed the Nerima girl, is one of the greatest plot twists ever

This might be one of the best titles I've watched, and I mostly stuck to legendary ones. It's pure gold, and might just be the best 2021 has to offer at this point.

Just finished it last night and its up there as one of my favorite Anime of all time. So creative and original, a great breathe of fresh air.

This has very quickly become my favorite anime opening of all time. Not even because of the song (which is a complete vibe), but rather because it just straight-up tells you EVERYTHING about the plot, right under your nose without you even realizing.
I finished the anime and now I suffer because it is so peaceful with a nice vibe to watch it leaves you wanting more, and this opening is a masterpiece. Odd Taxi is by far one of the best in recent years.

If anyone is worried about diving into this anime, so far the first episode has implied some things, but there's nothing explicit yet.
It's also actually pretty funny if you share the taxi driver character's sarcasm.

This anime is so chill. I'm loving the characters and their back stories
that sax at the end makes me ascend every single time
I know this show starts off slow, and the first few episodes might drive you off,
BUT PLEASE GIVE ODD TAXI A CHANCE.
Almost every character so far has an origin story that leads to them being tangled into the main plot, and this quiet citylife ramps up and turns into a mystery thriller that'll leave you hungry for the next episode.
I love the voice acting of the main character. I could listen to him all day.
