  • In this video, I caught 2 browns on the river using a spoon. I didn’t expect to catch a 13 lb brown, I was so happy.

    Great fish! I've always gravitated towards the North Sask, but I'd love to find some decent spots in the south. Where did you hit the fish in this video?

    Really curious where abouts along the river this was and if you know if brown span throughout the river as a whole. I have never caught browns before and would love to knock it off the list but the closest reachable access to the ssr is about a 3 hour drive from where Im at so I'm hesitant on taking the drive if they are alot father up and only in some sections

    Curious, how far are you roughly casting out? I am new to the Canada from England, need to get some new gear for my 1st season. Was thinking the 7ft Fenwick HMG casting/spinning rods should do the trick. Feel like everyone is fishing with boats haha.

      1 Down 4 Up distance varies (not too far though) as long you reel it in quick in some areas to avoid getting snagged. I do lots of offshore fishing and casting so 6.6 medium light has been my go to rod. Easier for canvassing the area. I like HMG too. Tight line!

      1/4 spoon. When water clear, silver/blue and when water murky try gold color.

    Can you keep these trouts to eat?

    • @fishingmentality
      @fishingmentality  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      legally you can but i encourage anyone to catch and release these amazing trouts as they are rarely seen in this river. I'd also suggest grabbing the Saskatchewan's angler's guide when you get your fishing license for comprehensive listing of waterbodies with specific catch limits and special regulations. it helps when i'm fishing new areas. good luck and let me know if you catch one!

      @@fishingmentalityhey. I’ve been fishing the river for about a year and don’t seem to get any luck with trout. Any good lakes nearby Saskatoon or river spots with a higher chance of hooking some trout?

    Might want to grab a net or something... Pretty bad fish handling for a species that is already out of its range!

    • @fishingmentality

      Chris Brown I agree. Looking back at this and feedbacks from other fishermen, I learned how to properly handle this fish the next time.Thanks again for the feedback.
