This was extremely helpful. I'm a high school student, and I haven't used my camera for a year . A lot has happened within this past year, so this was really refreshing.

They used to make vinyl or leather cases for these cameras that were secured buy a thumb screw into the tripod mount. These cases would snap closed and that would also help prevent your camera from firing when it's in the bag.

I bought a K 1000 in damn near mint condition
The light seal was a mess
    I cleaned that up
A little bit ended up on the focus screen but I just removed it with a clean bit of tissue and distilled water
    Nothing more
This is very important or the screen can ruin
Put film in despite no seal replacement I was lucky no leakage
    But they need replacement.
Just one other thing the shutter sticks on 1 sec
But all other speeds work fine.
The camera will need a general servicing.
I think I got it less than a hundred because of these factors
Very lucky to find it in camera shop
    They go for Much more
    Especially if fully serviced

Ordered this camera today. I haven't used film since I was a kid and that was with disposable cameras.

It's on the lens, though I don't think that particular lens has that setting. I think the rule of thumb there is to Just go with the closest you what you want.
