The Kawasaki Heavy Industries C151 trains , started operation on 07 November 1987 with 66 trains being procured for the North South and East West Lines. It was carried out with mid-life refurbishment between 2004 [the year I was born] and 2008 [the year where the fleet was fully refurbished while 075/076 was the last to be refurbished and went into service in January 2009] and continued operations for more than a decade and about two to four years. Currently there are six of these trains that equipped with the PMSM traction motor by Tosbiha and started operations in July 2015 , it was scheduled to be equipped on the second generation - the Siemens C651 trains during their refurbishment [started in 2015] which was scheduled to complete in 2018 but refurbishment for the C651 trains was cancelled in September 2018. Two years after the cancellation of C651 refurbishment , on 22 June 2020 , decommission of the first generation C151 trains has started beginning with - set 045/046. The fleet of 66 first generation trains will be progreesively retired and replaced by a new fleet of Bombardier Movia CR151 trains which will also replace the second generation C651 [which also started decommisioning on 06 September 2020 beginning with set 203/204] and the third generation C751B [which the fleet has currently serveral trainsets seems to be taken out of service] trains. Happy 33rd anniversary to the C151 trains , may these trains hopes to continue serving the North South / East West and Changi Airport Extension Lines daily until their retirement.
