  • I took a little drive through Inverness, Nova Scotia on Cape Breton Island… This little town has a world-class golf course, beautiful scenery...And seems to be growing really fast. If you’re out there make sure you stop by and check it out… Some of the views are stunning

    Actually as you drove through I was struck by all the missing buildings/businesses that were there when growing up in the 60/70s. Even then the town which became a village was long past it’s peak.

      There’s a lot of growth happening out there now but I noticed the feel of the communities are changing

    here in Cali we pay a thing called a gas tax on top of crazy gas prices and the big push to get this tax approved was it was gonna help them fix all the roads , well one thing you must do when driving out here is always be on the look out for the next giant pot hole when driving . Not sure where all that money is going that they get from the gas tax ?

    • @ghettovanadventures
      @ghettovanadventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have that tax too
      Our gas is about $4.75 your gallon… It’s incredible how much tax we pay and how bad the roads are
      Thanks for coming by

    Inverness is an old coal mining company town. You can still see a lot of the old duplex houses in your video which were built during the coal mining Era. Coal production had been receding for many years and in the 1980's CN closed its rail line between Port Hastings and Inverness which was then used for hauling coal only. Coal from the St Rose mine continued to be trucked to the Point Tupper power plant after the rail line closed but eventually that mine closed. Inverness fell on hard times for a few years until the idea to build a golf course near the shore over the remediated coal mines took off. Cabot Links was the first course to open and gained international recognition and success. Notable celebrities were now coming to Inverness to experience Cabot Links golfing first hand. This new success inspired another golf course, Cabot Cliffs, to be built nearby. The golfing industry has brought a lot of new found wealth to the area and rejuvenated the local economy.

    Too many golf courses in CB. The influx of people in that town caused much stress on aging sewage system, caused sewage to spill into the ocean. Too bad the Cabot Links Golf course could not seem to see fit to cough up any money to give to the town to fix that ‘issue’... The golf course is NOT for locals, it is for the money crowd who fly in. Much money to play with the rich crowd. Cabot links was sold that beach front land for ONE dollar, not only that they received loans from Nova Scotia. Now they want an airport as the snowflakes are too privileged to be required to drive the distance from Port Hawkesbury airport to the golf course. More land gobbled up for the sake of the rich mans sport. They paved paradise and put up a parking lot....
