  • First I want to thank Everett's family for inviting me, a stranger, into their home to help others. Thank you so much. Everett has Down syndrome. He was born almost 2 months premature. He had corrective heart surgery and has a g-tube. He is also absolutely adorable. Join me as I follow Everett over time providing pediatric physical therapy treatment recommendations to help him get stronger, faster, and more mobile. I first met him when he was 11.5 months old. I am so excited to see him grow and change over time.
These videos are not to replace in-person physical therapy. Individualized therapy is critical for a child's success. Please do not try these with your child if your child has other risk factors or has skills, strengths, or weaknesses significantly different from Everett. My email address is amysturkey@gmail.com. My website is: www.pediatricPTexercises.com. Please remember, I am unable to provide treatment recommendations for a child I have not personally evaluated. You will need to find a local therapist for recommendations specific to your child.
These videos may be more helpful seen in order as I perform easier treatment techniques first. Here is the link to his playlist:

I also have available 6 children's educational books addressing Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Anxiety, and Encopresis and Enuresis. I now also have 3 professional books "Pediatric Physical Therapy Exercises for the Hips," "Pediatric Physical Therapy Exercises for the Knees, and "Pediatric Physical Therapy Exercises for the Ankles." If you have questions or suggestions, feel free to contact me at amysturkey@gmail.com. Please note: I cannot provide treatment suggestions for a child I have not personally evaluated.
I am so honored to have people from all over the world watch my videos. I have reviewed and corrected the closed captions for this video so that you might understand what I am saying even if you don't speak English. I hope the directions below are helpful to you.
To turn on Captions, click CC in the bottom or top right corner of the video
To choose a different caption language:
At the bottom right, click Settings. It looks like a wheel.
    Click Subtitles/CC.
    Select a language.
If the language isn't listed when you click Subtitles/CC:
    Click Auto-translate.
    Select a language.
Of course, if the captions are in the way of viewing the details in the video, you can always turn them off in the bottom or top right-hand corner of your video screen.

Hello, thank you for the videos. My daughter is 1/5 months, she had a brain cyst and she has a shunt put it as the cyst was blocking her fluid, prior to surgery she regressed (stopped crawling, moving in her walker or sitting). Post surgery a month after she she is now sitting on her own, talking communicating and has started folding her legs to crawl. she is unable to pull herself up or stand without support. Can you recommend any exercises to help he her.

I am so glad your daughter is doing better. I strongly recommend you find a local pediatric physical therapist who can help you. In the meantime, maybe this playlist will help you. th-cam.com/play/PLAkJbMrHyKjM1llP4H__xPvtRv2S2ZvFz.html

Hi Amy! Thank you for your amazing videos! I just had a few questions: How do you teach a child with level IV/V CP AND visual impairment to stand/ sit/ play? Any videos in relation to teaching movement to children with visual impairment? Please guide me!

I don’t really have any videos, addressing directly visual impairment, other than the ones with Sebastian. He has a very significant visual impairment and cerebral palsy so maybe those would help you.

How long should I do that in my baby in one session?

    • @pediatricPTexercises
      @pediatricPTexercises  ปีที่แล้ว

I can’t answer that question for your specific child. A lot of it depends on how strong your child is and their tolerance for this activity and their interested in it. Here is a video I did on this basic question.th-cam.com/video/9J-AXqmvuV4/w-d-xo.html

There is a wide range of people with Down syndrome. But typically they will need more support in life. They will always have Down syndrome

sounds like the parts of your child’s brain that affects movement, including talking were affected. However, it sounds like the areas of his brain that affect his intelligence were spared. It is critical that you work really hard with him right now .He is most likely to change while he is younger. Give him a hug for me. Wishing you the best.

Thx. One query : should the knees be straight or is it fine if they are slightly bent when the kid stands? Pl reply.

    • @pediatricPTexercises

I would think slightly bent is fine but I don’t know your child’s circumstances
