  • Come along with me as I try out a 1940's sugar cookie recipe to use my vintage cookie cutters on.
In the beginning I say I wanted to make Ginger Snaps as well, but alas I ran out of flour 😂
If you want to try it along with me to see how yours turns out that would be so fun ( mine were just ok, I'm not sure if it's because I have to use gluten/dairy alternatives or what). Or if you just are curious about old recipes and it's enjoyable for you to watch then come along.
Here's the link to the recipe:

Here's the recipe for the Ginger Snaps if you are still interested even though I didn't end up making them ( I found this online, someone had photocopied pages from a 1940's cookbook):
    1 cup sugar
    3/4 cup lard or butter
    1 egg
    1 teaspoon ginger
    pinch of salt
    1 cup molasses
    2 teaspoons soda
    3 1/4 cups flour
Cream sugar and shortening. Add molasses with the soda, then the dry ingredients. Take teaspoon of dough about the size of walnut and roll to round ball in palm of hand. Place on buttered pan. They will flatten as they bake.
One thing we've gotten better at through time is better directions lol!!
