Just picked up one of these...my first BMW and it's a fantastic car 30 days in. So solid, smooth, and comfortable. I was skeptical but these guys know how to build a car.
@@WOOF95 This is a sport car and it drives not like generic SUV. I moved to BMW X1 from KIA Sorento and spend about 2-3 weeks to adapt to it. Overall very pleasant and fun drive - love this car.
2023 X1 sdrive 28i. Drives smooth, a great commuter car. Averaging 33-34 mpg for the entire tank every time. Easily get 40+ mpg on the highway. Zip zap so effortlessly, acceleration is fun. Got a speeding ticket as a result. I mean, it's BMW.
@@alphonsusho8962 its not just the screens. It's that everything is electronic now. If something bugs down the whole car will stop working and only specialised mechanics will be able to fix them. Which means repair costs will be scary to look at.

The big screen looks very harmonious, perhaps better than on any other BMW model. Well done designers, great job!
Exactly, how does one change the aircon stuff while driving then?? I have a Mazda and a Subaru and they have manual buttons for most stuff and that is a big help!
Because it is much cheaper for the manufacturer to bury as many basic functions as possible into the infotainment menu vs sourcing separate panels/buttons that increase the cost per manufactured vehicle. It all comes down just to dollars and cents while Using the smoke and mirrors impression that having everything buried in the infotainment touch screen is somehow the “Future” and “Technological advancement”😂😂😂
guys... which would you choose for a person who uses it as daily driver and only carries a dog and luggage occasionally? cx 5, xc60, X1/X2, RX350? Thanks! Want good AC in back for the dog. That's it!
I drive an X-line with 18” wheels. Car is bumpy, and on a washboard resembles a minor earthquake. In snow, AWD is poor. For comparison, a Toyota Venza is much less bumpy, AWD is far superior in snow, but amazingly the X1 has about the same cargo space.
I recently purchased a 2025 X1. Love it. My only complaint is when I got home I went to program the garage door opener and THERE WASN’T ONE 😩. Why would they not put that in. Over all I’m extremely happy with my purchase.
Nice video as always guys!! I am considering between X1 & X3 (also fan of Audi Q3). But the jerky dual clutch setup is a worrying point for me regarding the X1. I have been driving a Hyundai Tucson which has dual clutch & it's very annoying whenever it gives that jerk on lower speeds. How is the X1 dual clutch compared to one in Hyundai's?
Thanks! This DCT is a night and day difference from back when the Tucson had one. Much smoother. It is definitely not as smooth as the traditional automatic in the X3 though.
How is this little 240 hp four banger getting only 28 miles to the gallon when I’m getting almost 19 real world mpg from daily city driving a previous gen 420 hp V8 Cadillac EXT (the huuuuge one)?
yea, they totally ruined the X2, I have a 2023 X1 and really like it. I do wish that it had some manual controls. Can get fussy using the screen all of the time and distracting.
@@Blackandwhitecat-u9v Apparently you haven't seen the new X5s, X7s, 5 series and 7 series on the road. The slow incandescent bulb-like blinking speed is BMW's new signature. It pulses at a slow rate.
I really like the way this one looks with those 20’s. The other rims on the base one I think, are ugly. I always thought he floating center cap was exclusive to Bentley and Rolls Royce
Great review as always! BMW really needs to work on its interior fit and finish and quality. The interior looks pretty janky and cheap. The fading signals needs to be stopped and just do regular blinkers. Also... why do they not do amber rear signals?
I traded a previous generation X1 in on a new X2 a few months ago. Basically an X1 with a different body and I wanted the lower roof of the X2. What the video doesn’t capture is that even allowing for the fact my X1 was an older car, the new one has a very tangible feel of being an upgraded car. The controls response, materials, handling, noise, vibration, harshness, seats make it feel like it’s more upscale on the model lineup. Even the sounds are improved the engine note sounds more expensive, like a classic in-line 6 and the doors and hatches have a softer, more solid thunk. Admittedly the styling is pretty ugly compared to the old X1, it looks like a little bulldog, but that’s OK, I’m on the inside driving it so I don’t have to look at the outside!
@@unowen-nh9ov They tried to get it as close as they could. It certainly sounds better than the previous model. I have had some people think it is electric when it’s parked because the exhaust outlets are hidden under the car. I wonder if the lower bumper valence is from the European electric version. Where the old exhausts were the valance has these sort of fake aerodynamic venturi shapes.
I find it amazing that my 2019 Santa Fe ultimate is way better equipped than this for $10K cheaper. Rides better, and the doors close with a lot less tinny sound.

I don't consider a similar level of comfort for the kids in the rear as for the driver to be a luxury; it's a minimum standard. Without even an option for heated rear seats, X1 is completely useless two-seater in my mind. All my [cheap] cars had rear heated seats for at least 20 years.
