Gary Oldman is a brilliant actor. He makes you hate him in this role. His soft and gentle demeanor when talking to the daughter and the screams of anger just make the role.
another memorable villain role for Gary Oldman; back in the 90s I swore that he was just born to play the bad guy, but like people say he’s a chameleon; shouldn’t complain after the fact, but think it took way too long for him to finally get his Oscar
I tell you what, the mid-90s were the heyday of action movies. Jurassic Park, Independence Day, Twister, The Rock, Con Air, Die Hard 3, I know I'm leaving out plenty. Tons of movies that you can just sit down and enjoy whenever they come on.
I would add Speed (1994) and Ransom (1996) to that list -- plus The Fugitive (1993), Face/Off (1997), Men in Black (1997), and Starship Troopers (1997) if '93 and '97 also count as mid-'90s!
The entire '90's were action packed when you also add: Hard to Kill (1990), Die Hard 2 (1990), Terminator 2 (1991), Double Impact (1991), Passenger 57 (1992), Under Siege (1992), Under Siege 2 (1995), Cliffhanger (1993), Hard Target (1993), Lethal Weapon 3 (1992), Money Train (1995), Rumble in the Bronx (1995), Golden Eye (1995), Executive Decision (1995), Broken Arrow (1996), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), Rush Hour (1998), Blade (1998), Armageddon (1998), Deep Rising (1998), Lethal Weapon 4 (1998), The Mummy (1999), and The Matrix (1999).
@@x_trio_3_po333 the Matrix was kind of the end of that popcorn movie golden era - after that they had to be smarter, more cutting edge, something you rewatched to get more out of it, not just because it's a fun movie.
By the way, here's a fun fact. When President Clinton heard that AFO was going to be featured in a Harrison Ford action film, he gave Harrison, director Wolfgang Peterson, and their production designer a tour of his actual plane.
Allegedly the character of Melanie Mitchell was based on the tour guide they had for AF1. Gary Oldman was not thrilled about having to shoot her fictitious counterpart afterward.
If you want to see another great standalone movie by Harrison Ford, I can recommend The Fugitive.

This film is part of Harrison Ford's political/criminal intrigue collection. The others films in the same vein are Patriot Games (1992), The Fugitive (1993), Clear & Present Danger (1994), The Devil's Own (1997) and there's still MORE !
The way Harrison Ford delivers the "get off my plane" line... still gives me chills Awesome movie and im glad to see you decided to give it a watch! :)
Let's give Addie a round of applause for surviving Air Force One (1997). 👏👏 This is now one of my all-time favorite Harrison Ford movies alongside the Indiana Jones movies that he was in. I totally agree with you that he was awesome as President James Marshall, especially when he tells Ivan Korshunov "Get off my plane!". I even own the movie on DVD as a double-sided disc containing the 2.39:1 Widescreen version on Side A and the 4:3 Full Screen version on Side B. Labyrinth (1986) will definitely be something light-hearted for you after being stressed out by this movie. BTW, this movie is also on Disney+ outside North America (US & Canada).
Another Harrison Ford movie that also came out that same year is The Devil's Own (1997). I'm also suggesting that movie to you. #TheDevilsOwnForAddieCounts And I also have five other stressful movie suggestions for you, when you're ready for another one: Sicario (2015) and its sequel Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018) as well as the Christopher Nolan movies Dunkirk (2017) & Tenet (2020) and the Michael Bay movie Ambulance (2022). #MoreStressfulMoviesForAddieCounts
I'm glad you enjoyed this, Addie. If you're interested in reacting to another Harrison Ford standalone film, I would recommend "The Fugitive", which co-starred Tommy Lee Jones.
Aww yasss so awesome 🙂. Want to share and take the time to compliment such a huge fan of yours and have been for sometime, which I love and enjoy your movie reactions so much 😀. When this first came out Harrison did an interview with David letterman. He dubbed him the ass kicking President, this movie is hands down one of Ford's best!
Always a joy to see the beautiful Addie post again. Glad you enjoyed this - it proves Ford is not just a 2-trick pony. Now try the other stand-alones, Close and Present Danger, Fugitive, etc.

Xander Berkeley (the traitorous Secret Service agent) has a history of violent deaths. Such as his violent death in T2 as John Conner's foster parent. In Candy Man (1992). In L.A. Takedown (1989). In Heat (1995). In Shanghai Noon (2000). In the 2010 TV series, The Walking Dead. In the 2001 TV series, "24" he had another violent death, albeit an heroic one.
This movie is very special for me. You mentioned the stress, forgetting to breathe, etc. I, along with my very pregnant sister and her then fiance went to see the movie in the theater. After I drove them home shortly after midnight, my sister's water broke. In a time before cell phones (at least for us), she was unable to call me back. She called our brother to take her to the hospital. My niece, was born that morning on July 29, 1997. So, I'll always remember the day I saw Air Force One being July 28, 1997.
Yes! The Fugitive, Witness, Frantic, Blade Runner, and What Lies Beneath! Your Harrison Playlist recommendations! Also, Patriot Games and Clear and Pesent Danger, both Tom Clancy geopolitical thriller novels, if you like. Also, Age of Adaline! (There is another that is not so much thriller but more courtroom drama and is just heavy and not reaction-thrilling but downer. These are pretty up there for reactions, I think) There IS a good one you must see, Regarding Henry! 🎉
Executive Decision with Kurt Russell is a great one as well. But a few more Harrison movies to watch would be Witness, Working Girl, Patriot Games, Regarding Henry and Presumed Innocent.
I remember watching as a kid a funny behind the scenes Air Force One clip (maybe was a old HBO interview) with Gary Oldman when he was describing his fight with Harrison Ford. He said during their Fight/struggle, he had an epiphany when he looked directly at Harrison Ford's face and thought to himself, "You're Indiana Jones".
My dad worked on this movie as one of the set builders, took us down one day to walk the plane and threatened to turn it on and toss us around (worked on Turbluence before this so double plane sets). He is a big Harrison Ford fan since he would always come and see what the workers were building since he is a builder as well.
Jamie Foxx (Electro) play as the President in White House Down & Gary Oldman play as a bad guy again in The Hitman's Bodyguard. You definitely need to watch movies too.
Mr. Ford was a busy man in the 80s and especially 90s. People are mentioning The Fugitive (excellent), and I'd add Patriot Games & Clear and Present Danger (Both as Jack Ryan played by Alec Baldwin in The Hunt for Red October). As a bonus I'd like to give honorable mention to Regarding Henry which I don't really want to even give the premise of because spoilers. All excellent movies with some great supporting actors like James Earl Jones, Willem Dafoe, and Sean Bean.
First rated R movie I saw in the theater. My father saw it first and figured that since I was about the same age as the daughter, it would be OK for me to watch.
Another great reaction, Addie, you're the best! ❤ A few more great Harrison Ford movies worth watching are Blade Runner (1982), Witness (1985), and The Fugitive (1993). The Mosquito Coast (1986) is a very underrated film that I really like. To see him in a comedic role, check out Sabrina (1995), Hollywood Homicide (2003), or Six Days Seven Nights (1998).

It's been a year since you watched The Fifth Element, so I forgive you for not recognizing that the villain here was played by the same actor as was the villainous arms dealer there: Gary Oldman. (You also saw him 2 years ago as Commissioner Gordon in the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy!)
6:28 Walter's "I'm in charge here" is a reference to Secretary of State Alexander Haig declaring "I am in control here" (despite not be next in line of succession) after President Ronald Reagan was shot by John Hinkley Jr..

This is definitely a good one from Harrison Ford. Two others you might want to check out are The Fugitive and Working Girl. Also, if you ever do The Hunt for Red October (or already have), Harrison Ford is the lead in the first two sequels, which are also good.

You need to watch Harrison ford as jack Ryan in "Patriot Games" and "Clear And Present Danger," but first you have to watch "The Hunt For Red October" with Alec Baldwin as Jack Ryan.
Once the plane hits the runway, the speed break deploys and the spoilers and the plane is going to slow drastically.... It also doesn't really handle like that on the ground.
I’m glad you enjoyed it Addie. I had a feeling you would. It was very suspensefull, yes, but it was fun too. It’s my favorite Harrison Ford movie that’s not Star Wars or Indiana Jones. Would you consider it “Die Hard on a plane” like I did?
Well, now you have to watch "Executive Decision" starring Kurt Russell, Halle Berry, John Leguizamo, and Steven Segal in one of his most popular movie appearances.
With the current safety record the new Air force one and doomsday fleet need to be non boewing aircraft. I suggest converting already mil spec C5s plus the motorcade planes could act as extra doubles, being C5s themselves.
I love Glenn Close (the Vice President) and Dean Stockwell (Defense Secretary)! And the always reliable Glen Morshower! No…the “emergency escape pod” isn’t a real thing. That F-15 pilot putting his plane in the missle’s path still looks spectacular after all of these years.
Obama was asked about it, He confirmed there is no escape pod on air force one then said "But it's not a bad idea 🤔" who knows they may have secretly installed one since 🤷♂️
I love this movie, but it took many viewings before I could watch it without being reminded of comedian Yakov Smirmoff every time I looked at Gary Oldman and Elya Baskin.
If you like Harrison Ford’s action films, he’s got some good Jack Ryan films based on books written by Tom Clancy films, he’s a CIA operative. Titles: Clear and Present Danger, and Patriot Games.

I'd love to see a parody of this movie made in the same style as Airplane! (1980)
Obama was asked about it, He confirmed there is no escape pod on air force one then said "But it's not a bad idea 🤔" who knows they may have secretly installed one since 🤷♂️
I forgot Gary Oldman was in this. Rule of thumb...If Gary Oldman or Alan Rickman show up for the party, it won't end well.
2:00 Gordon before he whas a non corrupt police officer and helped Batman or a prisioner of Ascaban.
I love this movie, but it took many viewings before I could watch it without being reminded of comedian Yakov Smirmoff every time I looked at Gary Oldman and Elya Baskin.
I was 7 when that movie was in theaters
One of the best movies.
If you like Harrison Ford’s action films, he’s got some good Jack Ryan films based on books written by Tom Clancy films, he’s a CIA operative. Titles: Clear and Present Danger, and Patriot Games.
I would also recommend Executive Decision. It's not a great film, but the cast is cool. One of those "what am I going to do today?" movies.
The Jack Ryan franchise, there are only 2 with Harrison Ford but they are amazing.
Good day to you..i have some movie suggestions that might interest you.."Last Action Hero"(arnol schwarzenneger)..."Maverick"(mel gibson/jodi foster/james garner).."Space Cowboys"(clint eastwood/tommy lee jones/donald sutherland/james garner)..."Volcano"(tommy lee jones/anne heche).."Basic"(john travolta/samuel jackson)..."Lake Placid"(bill pullman).."G.I.jane"(demi moore)...have a good day.
For another Harrison Ford movie that's a departure from the typical Harrison Ford movie you should check out Regarding Henry.
I'll just jump on the bandwagon here and suggest "The Fugitive"
