I had the same experience. Almost 50 now and heard Elton's music around 6 or 7 years old. I had just begun my interest in the piano and he sealed the deal. I was instantly in love with his music. I have been studying and loving his work ever since.
OMG.......OMG......OMG.....This should go in the time capsule and 5,000 years from now someone/thing would open it up, weep, and remark about how lucky we were to live in this era and experience this beauty.
This show was filmed on Bernie's 20th birthday. Elton had just turned 23 two months earlier. Let that sink in for a minute when you see how self-possessed Elton was here. Just mind-blowing.
I heard Elton play this live at a solo show 9 years ago. It made me think of my then three year old son who was excitedly awaiting the birth of his baby sister. I was in tears for most of the song.
My favorite song off the self titled Elton John album. It reminds me of when my little brother was a newborn. I've never heard any song more beautiful. It makes me cry every single time I listen to it.
Beautiful lyrics by Bernie and Beautiful Melody by Sir Elton John, They are really brilliant when being together. All my respect and love to both of them
His second album, 'Elton John', which features this song, contains some wonderful songs. When I was young, I thought that he sang ''saw magic Simon yesterday'' (well it was the 1970s!). It took me years to work out that the line is ''so much excitement yesterday''!
When my daughter's second son was born, a little over 6 years ago, this is the song that came to my mind. I think today is the first time I've ever seen this version. There are no words
And as far as I know, this is the first and only time I have ever actually seen Paul buckmaster play with him live. Okay, play with him ever lol, live or in studio.
I first noticed Elton John when he released "Elton John" in April 1970. This album shot Elton to fame, as its first single was "Your Song." I also love "First Episode at Hienton" and "Sixty Years On" in addition to the more radio-friendly tunes.
What I love about this performance is that you can still hear the youth and inexperienced of all the musicians, but hearing how they sound decades on you can really tell how their craft progressed and was perfected.
I do not understand how they can continue to write the songs that they do. Bernie taupin continues to write the lyrics and Elton john continues to write the music to these magical songs.
bernie must still have a lot of strength to work, it must be easy to write musical lyrics, for bernie, it must be easy to continue working with music lyrics, writing songs
Just looking for DVDs of all this early (pre-1975) stuff . . . they don’t exist! Well, here and there, bootlegs, CDs . . . but no *definitive* collection of early Elton DVDs. It’s clear that the videos are out there-see above-but queer that they haven't been put on some "Box Set Complete Concerts" DVD set . . . oh, and that's "queer" in the old usage.
Greg Cahill: I’m a 55 year old woman who’s loved Elton since I first discovered him when I was 9 in 1972. I completely agree with you. I’m also a proLife, animal loving Christian.
My preferred era of Eltons music... His work with Paul Buckmaster is outstanding...
Painting with words and music. True artistry
I've listened to Elton John since I was 10 years old, I just turned 54 and his music is STILL magical to me.
I love this man and his music been a fan since the age of 13 now am approaching 61 his music is the sound track of my life

I'm right there with you...on all accounts.😏
@@brucedillinger9448 Me too.
Agree!!!
I'm 67 your age now and started listening to his music in 1971 with" madman"
Elton is amazing. Here it is almost 50 years later, and he is still relevant, one of the most popular and one of the greatest musicians of our era.
Goosebumps. I play this on piano, after my second child was born I couldn't sing it without tears. Beautiful, just beautiful
One of the most incredibly written, completely moving, amazing songs ever- bar NONE! Highest kudos Bernie & Sir Elton!
No other artist has ever writen anything like this, simply beautiful!
One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard! So beautiful that I still sob every time I listen to it ...
So do I! It reminds me of when my little brother, Rory was a newborn.
Yes, I have listened to this for 35 years right after my brother Donovan's birthday@@summermcpherson8209
The Elton John album is exceptional. So is this....
OMG.......OMG......OMG.....This should go in the time capsule and 5,000 years from now someone/thing would open it up, weep, and remark about how lucky we were to live in this era and experience this beauty.
Where would I be without Eltons music in my life ? Shudder the thought

Without question one of Bernie Taupin greatest lyrics.

Most beautiful song ever! I’m a Van Halen stone temple pilots fan etc.
It seems no one has the ability to compose songs this beautiful, anymore.
There are a few, but you have to really search for them.
One of the most touching and human songs ever written. Taupin's lyrics are amazing, an the musical setting couldn't have been better,
One of the best lyrics ever written.
Beautiful lyrics by Bernie and Beautiful Melody by Sir Elton John, They are really brilliant when being together. All my respect and love to both of them
One of my all-time favorite Elton songs!!!
And Paul Buckmaster on the cello... amazing...
absolutely
No one can match the Musical and Lyrical craft of Elton and Bernie.....not in this lifetime anyway.....
What a freaking goddamn masterpiece.
That's so cool its Paul Buckmaster playing the cello on his own arrangement. What a beautiful performance.
One of the best, sweet songs ever.
Just breathtaking
He was like a sweet little boy.

A song of sheer loveliness & innocense....surely tweeks my heart strings every time, as tears stream down my face...so sweet!!!! 3

sobbing again ... thank you Bernie and Elton, equally in 2017/05
Absolutely beautiful from a great album!! Thanks.
This song always makes me cry ♡
Me to His smile is Natural he is with his brother very emotional song about them
Que linda canção!!😍
Elton John ❤
Good, You found it. Bernie's best lyrics. I can't even imagine a 17 year old kid writing this one. Having this depth at such an age.
So beautiful !
Oh this is so much richer than the original. Yes...thank you for the upload!
Master poetry from Bernie Taupin,
and Elton John just hits the right chords to give a soundtrack to these amazing words.
Шедевральна музика, шедевральний Елтон Джон
Glorious!
Genius
miracle song best of the best

What a Wonderful song of life
My two Angels
totally agree with !!
Thank you so much for posting this!
They don't make them like they used to. What happened to the great singer songwriters? What happened to the soulful ballads?
Linda música!
Que lindo!❤️👏🏻👏🏻
É lindo sim
Esses vídeos antigos são geniais, grande Elton John
🤣

LOS TRES GRANDES JUNTOS,...ELTON BERNIE Y PAUL

Sounds a bit like "Homeward Bound" by Paul Simon.
Is that John Lennon in the audience?
No.
This is the song I play when people ask me why I’m pro-life… I tell them that this is what I want to look forward to in the future.
Well said.
Sole sul tetto dei palazzi in costruzione...
Buckmaster is embarrassingly out of tune during the introduction. Shame, given that the song is indeed so lovely.
I do not see out of tune.i see great youthfull errors😁😁😁😁😁😁
Buckmaster seems a bit nervous. 😕
Who are the turds that didn’t like this ?
A shame the bass guitar destroyed this extraordinary song.
He is so tiny
This should be played in protest in front of every planned parenthood office
