OKAYYYY Peter, now youre just showing off. Doing a better/ more efficient job pruning these maples, with one hand, while filming, than most of us do after careful consideration.
It's spring, and the trees and popping! Peter this is an excellent video about the eye of the master. The principal's you explain, model and show help tremendously. Great work peter. Josh, miss ya bud.
When we have tornados' here it sounds like a freight train coming through, and the atmosphere turns a pale green. It gets real quiet before the freight train sound. That's when we know to take cover!
Healthy and beautiful Maples 😍. It's about time too, been waiting so long for Peter to work on His thousands of Maples. Thx for sharing Peter, cheers 👍.
hallo Peter, as always i learn a bit more about Bonsai. Thanks for that. If you are alone filming and working, it might be better, to position the camera on a tripod. That makes it easier to look the viedoe. cheers Achim
Love when the trees start to bud. Really helpful seeing the pruning process it gives alot of confidence to tackle my own trees for the future development
Fascinating wind audio: a change from Aircaft on Finals to Gatwick. My Maple is at a delicate, but thriving seedling stage so have to be more cautious and be patient for a couple of years. The pruning illustrated here will useful for the future.
The sound you heard in the trees at the beginning is the same sound as an oncoming front that brings strong storms/twisters. I wouldn't call it a gentle breeze, because for anyone in tornado alley, that sound is concerningly ominous. However, I can see how it would be fascinating and novel to someone not used to hearing it and associating it with tornado sirens. It is kind of hypnotic.
No matter what EVERYTIME I watch my man Peter chan there's ALWAYS something to learn. It doesn't matter if I heard it a million times it's hard to remember every principle but these videos are such a help and chance to grow and try and remember more! Theres always something i forget and u remind me of. I love maple pruning videos. Thanks peter. One question do u guys at herons sell pots to the United states?
It’s nearing the end of September 2023 here in the Midwest US… I’m already counting the months till spring. Question.. do you ever put the putty over the larger cuts to prevent disease? Thank you for all that you teach us!!
The branch tips have a high comcentration of growth hormones. When you remove them the hormones are redistributed to the rest of the buds on the branch, allowing them to grow and leading to more ramification.
Nice little video , I guess the amount of tree you have it is impossible to keep on top of all of them. I have trimmed my acers for this year, but made the mother of all mistakes on my orange dream forest and nearly killed it , left it out and the frost got to it. 1 night is all it took , looks very sorry for itself right now .
I had to make difficult decisions as well last week. Thx for sharing your experience. Btw is there any chance for a video with different Nebari techniques?
Peter, it's the end of April here now, and ALL my trees are growing so fast, its amazing. ( most of the Tridents and Japanese maples have grown over a foot with leaves..) I knew this was coming, but now, I am a bit confused when to start cutting back the branches that have grown out maybe a foot or more on my small trees. Should I wait to start pruning to shape until AFTER the spring growth season? Or do it now as they are still busting out like crazy. Everything has leaves, wide open, and I just started fertilizing. I considered pruning before the leaves came out, but the branches were still cut back from the fall, but then in the past month, the deciduous trees have exploded in growth.
Great video but I feel this should have been uploaded earlier my trees are all full leaf already :o would be better to get this information when it's relevant and time to do it.
Hello I just bought The japanese maple collection at my local Lidl supermarket. They were €6,99 each and the collection consists of the 'Atropurpureum', "Phoenix' , 'Garnet', 'Emerald Lace', 'Little Princess', 'Orange Dream' and the 'Katsura. Very sorry that mr. Chan did not respond to my previous comment concerning the Bonsai Limequat and Kumquat also purchased at Lidl Supermarkets. Perhaps one day he might be able to interact more with his viewers/followers here on TH-cam.
I wish i could grow trees like this guy. I planted loads of oak seedlings about 7 years ago. i wanted to bonsai them but never know what to do.. then end up getting stressed out with them and do nothing. So now they are all neglected and dying... 7 years waisted
Just kupchak rine on meetings because American stomachs 🌪🇹🇭no rine weekend friend rine very low just friend color no color just before😂ozone but they management 4-8 year they see it as well friend rine friend color city Thailand netflix kupchak 🤩🤩

Sorry but this was so difficult to watch. Filming while cutting just isn't working and is making a poor final product. It would have been far better to just mount the camera on a tripod and worked from there.
Nature is breathtakingly beautiful and powerful.
Just rewatched this video Peter. Great reminder of Spring pruning Maples. I could have watched you doing all of them!
thanks for the point of view. love and respect brother.
Thanks, Herons! It's almost May. I'll have to remember this video NEXT February!

Love seeing the world slowing beginning to awaken from the slumber of winter.
I love your channel so much!
Thank you for the info.
Love hearing the wind in the trees. I'm from Alabama so we know wind.
Hi Peter. A difficult job for you, filming pruning at the same time. Love watching you deal with these maples. Hope we get to see you do more of them

Peter, you have branch (not to thick) but have a smaller one growing underneath would you cut the thicker branch off?
yes - if the thick branch is much thicker than all the other branches
@@peterchan3100 Thank you.

I’m new to bonsai and was wondering why you trimmed off the tips of the small branches? Thanks for the great content!

Hi Peter, the thick branches you cut off could you plant them and make cutting rather than throw away ,regards keith

I talk about that whenever there is an opportunity to show what needs to be done to improve the Root base.
My Orange dream has fully leaves out already,is it worth pruning the new growth back to the first 2 new sets of leaves

👍👌👌👌🍎
And most say don't prune in spring because of the sap flow?
Because it's loosing energy and could even die of that? 🤷🤷🤷
We need a better/more stable camera angle, because we're often not really seeing what you're doing.
Ahh global warming getting to your maples
