    I like to think 12’s browser history isn’t anything promiscuous, it’s just full of really embarrassing and obvious questions he didn’t know the answers to, but was too embarrassed to admit because he builds himself up so much as a super genius

      this is what i thought too, esp bc i also firmly headcanon that 1 wasn't that much of a capital-B Boomer, he was just too focused on trolling 12 to realise his trolling effected others. (i just love when the doctors are idiots especially regarding each other)

      Then we started joking about how he knows what Monster High and Frozen are and joked that it's a combination of obvious questions and watching content made for kids. And this was in the mid 2010s so that's guaranteed to have exposed him to some weird stuff on accident lmao
      So his search history is like:
      How to crack an egg
      Monster high movies watch free
      How to change a lightbulb
      Frozen 2013 torrent
      Elsa Spiderman???

      Moffat did everything twice. Except what he did 4 times.
      After writting 6 episodes for RTD he mostly just expolered the same ideas. Than by series 7 he got absolutly bankrupt creatively.

      @@katokianimation that's just him doing twice twice.
      also he wasn't creatively bankrupt. you're just repeating criticisms you saw on a video essay. s8-10 are the 3 most creatively rich series of new who. as opposed to rtd's "what if cybermen, but now there's crying" or chibnall's "what if classic who levels of bad line direction, but now with WIDE CAMERA'S" moffat's era had more creative richness than the rest of the show combined, this is just the first time people saw repeated themes, something EVERY creative does, esspecially some of the most sucessful and awe inspiring ones.. and treated it like a bad thing, ignoring everything else mixed in there.
      sure girl in the fireplace, the opening of rings of akhatten, and listen have the same basic concept if you really reduce both of them down to "dr visits someone through their timeline as he learns more about them to reach a goal" but you can't say thematically they have much in common beyond moffat exploring a somewhat similar premise for 3 distinct purposes, which isn't in any way a bad thing.

      By the way, I don't really like this kinda writing regarding different regenerations. Understanding basic social clues is not a personality trait, it's a skill. Like, I'm sure 10 would approach the "you have to be naked for the church" issue a lot more tactfully. It's almost NEVER been a children's show. That was the initial idea and concept of the show. However that quickly changed as the show was established. It's more of a family show and caters well for all ages. I think i'm right in believing that more adults watch the show now than Children.

    I started rewatching Doctor Who about two weeks ago, the first episode I got to with Moffat as the writer was the Doctor Dances two-parter in S1. The first thing that jumped out to me is "oh, the show is slightly hornier than it was in the several previous episodes" and then you get to S2 with the Girl in the Fire Place where this wonderful strong beautiful woman suddenly is in love with the Doctor and he seems to be into her as well. It just comes out of nowhere. The Doctor is so asexual until Moffat starts writing an episode.

    everytime i think to myself "wow, moffat has written some great stuff! even his seasons are pretty overhated, while he may have struggled to find his footing with his smith seasons, his capaldi seasons were awesome. his character writing and plots really did shine when he had a story to tell, and the character themes and the plot weaved itself better than davies' seasons. why is he so hated?" i remember this. damn, the duality between good writer and doing, well, this.
    though to be honest, lots of these dont feel that bad, it only felt terribly weird in smith's run (really, what was moffat thinking?). eccleston's era felt in-character for everyone, and capaldi's jokes i laughed at (thanks to peter's delivery carrying). and the master missy stuff felt weirdly in-character too. weird? yeah i think thats what is being aimed for. and stuff like the clara flirting with danny pink made sense, because, well, they're dating. and even with some of the smith stuff, i found humorous, like the 50th anniversary gag and the doctor straight up pulling out a giant light rod, they made me admittedly giggle but maybe thats because i have the same amount of humour elegance as a child. the scenes where amy and rory were flirting with each other i dont think i mind too much, because they're married, but even then i do also think moffat shoulda cooled it a bit as well in that regard.
    i think moffat got better overtime with cooling it, and by season 10 it felt pretty alright with no scene in particular (at least none that i can think of) at all feeling off-putting which compared to, say, the season 5 stuff like the amy straight up going ham on the doctor. which moffat did claim he regretted, so its likely he wouldnt pull something like this again (or at least i hope) if hypothetically he became showrunner again. but, still man, shame it happened to begin with, because remove those and you'd still get seasons and stories ranging from decent to great.

    i think the things that bugged me most were:
    1) how blatant these jokes tended to be. subtle sex jokes that'll fly over a child's head are fine, but when you put emphasis in the delivery and then take a beat (often punctuated with music) to let it sink in, it's a bit much for a family friendly show. also, if you're drawing attention to a joke, it had better be funnier than just referencing browser history.
    2) that 11 is usually childish, particularly as it relates to kissing and sex, which makes the horniness directed at or coming from him just feel creepy. i much preferred 12 and River because 12 can be an adult (but Moffat still liked to vary his social skills based on what was funny, because apparently it's good to make characters inconsistent for the sake of sometimes admittedly funny bits)
    3) the centuries-old Doctor should not be having relationships with anyone who already relies on him to be able to survive and get home, especially someone with nothing like the same level of experience that he has. River and the Doctor is an alright ship once she's had several decades of adventuring and exploring the universe under her belt. the Doctor and Clara isn't as creepy as the Doctor and Rose, but she's around a fiftieth of his age and not that mature by even human standards until she becomes a teacher in the Day of the Doctor. human standards of maturity aren't really enough for it to be okay to have a relationship with someone as old and powerful as a Time Lord and the showrunners really need to fucking stop it.

    • @RealUlrichLeland
      @RealUlrichLeland 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +14

      I mean although the doctor is incredibly old, his individual regenerations often don't live very long so I think the age gap between him and his partners is a bit dependent on which regeneration. 10 probably lived less than a decade, and was probably roughly 30 when he regenerated, so imo it made sense for him to flirt with people in their 20s like Martha, but Rose meeting the doctor at 19 was weird tho ill admit.

    • @GuiSmith
      @GuiSmith 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      @@RealUlrichLelandBy canonical ages, unless the Doctor reset his age count again and brooded for 900 years, the Ninth Doctor only lasted about 6 years and the Tenth only lasted 3 to 5 years. No wonder he was brooding about his time being up so soon and so remiss to lose his current face in Journey’s End. The Eleventh Doctor lived for just under 600 years if I remember his last episode correctly.
      However, the show runners also kind of retconned the age reset and the hard attempt at counting in The Doctor’s Wife. The TARDIS says he’d never asked for her name in 700 years. I know she’s not technically capable of experiencing linear progression of time, but she can still keep track of time passing for everyone present.
      You’re right though, their mental age varies wildly; regeneration and subsequent ageing definitely affects their memories and maturity. Yes, the Doctor’s had dozens of companions, and they remember all of them from the regeneration we call the First onward, but the lessons learnt from each wither away with time, new experiences, lost friends, and renewed hopes.

    I don’t get why people are acting like he does this all the time like even if you double the amount of time dedicated to sex jokes it still wouldn’t count for 1 percent of all the screen time from doctor who episodes he’s written

      It's still a lot and annoying when you know the reason of why Moffat did (aka to impose HIS vision of Doctor Who and the Doctor in general who cannot be aseuxla because "asexual are boring" and because Moffat really have a problems with self insertion character and making every women bisexual, cause you know we can't make the glorious Doctor a boring and childish asexual 🤡) like seriously people who say that Chibnall forced his fanfic are clearly bad faith but also must have forgotten about anything Moffat did.

      @@gay4sswhovian and yet 11 gave me more ace vibes than any of them... and I loved him for that. He was ace and surrounded by everything the opposite and so it became entertaining, highly relatable and gave us a great contrast between the doctor and and those he encountered.
