Some advice from a guy who has played since the closed beta: Everything in the game makes sense, so long as you're paying attention. Once you figure something out, it's pretty hard to forget it, too. Pay attention to everything you unlock when you unlock it, because it WILL give you an idea of what you should be doing next. Also, you're likely going to feel compelled to build in as small a space as possible. RESIST THE URGE. The world is pretty as all hell, but the machines are HUGE. Train stations alone take up TITANIC amounts of room, so don't be afraid to take up space! Also don't forget that you can always build UP. Good luck, pioneer!
On additional piece of advice I would give is to think about automating just about everything and then once you've automated it go back and make your automation more efficient.
I know! I know! Hahaha. There's just so darn many things to look at! Hahaha. Yeah, I plan on re visiting this game at some point and I'll actually make some progress. Haha. 😅
I miss that first sense of wonderment I had, before I had been all over the map through multiple playthroughs (1000+ hours now, only non-MMO game I ever did that in). Thanks for letting me live it again vicariously through you. One of the beautiful things about the way the game is designed is that the even though the progression and milestones are somewhat forced, you will find that by the time you get to them you actually WANT to do them because they will make your QOL better. Like when you talked about having to stay in one place to do the crafting... you will soon unlock some stuff that will do the crafting for you if you supply it with power. And later on you'll find things that will supply it with power for you. And so forth.
@@nerdenoughfortwoI think the most important quality of life milestone is coal power. Until you reach that point, you will be constantly having to tend to your biomass burners to keep them up and running. Coal power allows you to automate power production and it’s frees up more time to attend to other building and production plans.

Yes. Seeing a person not knowing how to play the game is kinda funny in a good way. But the controls confusion i didnt really like struggling through that, so i will get you the basics, when in the craft bench you can press the space bar to craft for you (learned already) you can hold the space bar to craft the item until you stop pressing it, if you want to craft items using your mouse then hold down the mouse button, it will work the same way as if you held down the space bar, Q to go to build menu to select things to build such as the craft bench and the equipment workshop. You unlock more stuff when you complete milestones. Note: you can select other milestones and if you have resources inside the milestone it will keep it in there, double clicking on the related items quickly transfers one stack of items to the hub terminal, hold ctrl to put in everything you need of that material into the hub, this also works for personal storage boxes, except you dump all of it. If you double click it will transfer only the stack. Note: if you right click on the item it will split the stack in half, hold right click to split what you want off of the stack. Note when manually crafting items it will show you what you consume and how many if you look at the center hud piece, this will also show how many you get after fully crafting the material, if you want to know what machines cost in recourses it will be the same but it shows how many resources it consunes and how many it produces in resources per minute. Note conveyor belts have a maximun capacity that you can see in the description. Note you can get upgraded belts up to mk5 belts.
You can also get conveyor mergers and splitters to increase efficiency of buildings. Note the conveyor mergers and splitters split half of the material going in or splits in three dependent on belts connected, this works the same on mergers but it can merge up to three belts. If you have struggles figuring how to split or merge successfully with 100% efficiency you can unlock overclocking later on, which allows you to overclock (costing power shards) or you can underclock it for free to any percent down to 0%.
Also overclocking one machine cost more power then if you built more machines, this works the same for underclocking but it decreases in the same fashion, so the best way to save electricity later on is to build 5 machines underclocked by 20% and you will save electricity.
This game is a blast if you like building things and efficiency. Once you open up the hub fully and start into the coal is when things really pick up. Have fun, don't stress.
Oh man, if you think this is complicated so far you have no idea what you're getting yourself into. A couple of tips to get you started: 1. I don't know if it's a setting or some bug, but your texture quality is very poor, the game normally looks much better. Worth looking into. 2. The craft bench is your last resort, not your first resort. Automate everything. At the very beginning you don't have any other option, but the goal is to reduce manual input as much as possible. 3. Push towards Coal Power as a priority, it can be automated completely so you don't have to worry about manually refilling biomass burners.
@@nerdenoughfortwo Just follow through the tutorials and the hub unlocks, you'll get full miner buildings eventually and then won't need to worry about the portable miners except as materials.
For years, I've been obsessed with this game and that include watching youtuber trying it for the 1st time. But here i cannot watch because of the horrible graphic setting :( IMHO this game is a triple class graphic masterpiece and a big part of the fun is to "watch and admire" the environment / machine / factories...
I generally consider myself a casual gamer and I found Satisfactory so addictive that I racked up 700+ hours of play time throughout all the updates since the first release of Early Access, which is a lot for me! It's very much like Minecraft in the sense that there isn't a "wrong" way to play the game. That said, I have a few tips and pointers for you that may or may not help you make progress faster and enjoy the game more: - take some time to tweak graphics settings! The game gets so much more enjoyable with higher quality textures, which most pc's with dedicated gpus of the last three gens should be able to handle. - most resource nodes and other 'collectibles' will have enemy creatures near them, be prepared for them. When they spot you, you'll see the "unauthorized hostility detected" warning in the top center of your display. You were caught out by a fluffytailed hog, probably because you were internally singing "We Will Rock You" while digging out the iron ore and didn't notice the warning message. These tiny hogs are probably the easiest enemies to dispatch. - Whenever ADA starts talking (and doesn't stop for minutes on end) there will likely be some tutorial tips on the left side of your screen. I was almost yelling at my computer because you were blatantly ignoring the message to press "Q" to open the build interface lol - in the crafting bench interface you can click and hold the yellow button if you only need a few items or you can press the spacebar once for continuous crafting and once more to stop. you can also select a different recipe to stop crafting, as you've demonstrated yourself. - as soon as you unlock the necessary steps in the tech tree, start automating the production of items into centralized storage close to the HUB. You'll thank yourself for doing it at the later stages of the game! The production lines you'll build get more complicated with every tech tier you upgrade to, so you want to learn to get it right as soon as possible. The main goal of the game, at least until the final version comes out, is exploration and expoitation. Hence you don't want to spend 90% of your time looking at a crafting interface. You landed in a beautifully crafted world to play in, so I implore you to enjoy the gorgeous views while the machines do your job! - as soon as you've unlocked the "base building" tech tree tier, start making concrete from limestone and placing foundations. It helps you snap the production machines to a grid, which makes it easier to maintain structure and overview of your factory. When you're setting up a temporary production line without foundations, you can still make it neat and structured by holding CTRL when placing machines. this will align the machines to the ones you've already placed and cut down on space used. The knowledge that helped me best to build the most efficient factories is this: Your factory's efficiency is mostly limited by two factors, raw resource acquisition and horizontal space. So don't build yourself into a corner but plan your factories with later expansions in mind and when you finally unlock overclocking technology, try to only use it on miners, then double up the machinery to deal with the extra resources you will produce. And finally: Pet all the Lizard Doggos!!!
Woah. Lot's of info, but I will definitely try to remember it all. And thank you for the tips, I don't know yet, but I am confident they will help. Thank you!
@@nerdenoughfortwo And to think I limited myself to early game tips XD I suppose it does betray my passion for the game a lil bit. But like I said, take 'em or leave 'em. There's no right or wrong way to play the game...
I'm pretty late to the video, and others have done well with explaining things, but as someone with over 270 hours sunk into the game, I'll leave my bit of info too :) Firstly, Satisfactory is all about three words: Augmentation, Automation and Exploitation. The key to this game- due to its complexity- is to do what is needed first, so in the future, you aren't overwhelmed. you may have noticed that when you open your inventory and move your mouse to the right side of the screen and click, it opens a to-do list. My best advice is to use this as much as possible. Intricacy and complexity is Satisfactory's middle name and it's easy to get overwhelmed, especially at first because you start with nothing. When you get overwhelmed (which will happen a lot) break up the project you're working on into multiple pieces and go from piece to piece. The game does this for you already because you have milestones, tiers and phases. Currently you are working through onboarding, which is the tutorial tier (tier 0) and part of phase zero. Phases wont matter for a while, though I would plan for automating large amounts of items sooner than later. Your first big project the game will ask of you (no spoilers!) will require hundreds of items, but is essential for progression. As you unlock milestones and tiers, look through everything available to you before you plan anything, and go for what makes it easiest to stay organized, clean and efficient. If you play through the entire game you will thank yourself for doing this right off the bat because even the slightest inefficiency will cost you a lot in the long run. Secondly, your first starter factory will most certainly be torn down and rebuilt as you learn a lot in the beginning, but do your best to build something that will last as long as possible. When I say as long as possible, I mean hundreds of hours because a single save can easily sink over 2,000 hours before completion. When it comes to building a factory in the beginning, your goal is to just automate what you can. Once you get further into the game and have more at your disposal, you'll want to make factories that produce one type of item, or if you build a megafactory (you automate everything you produce in one location, and usually will import materials across the map) section it off to make specific things in specific areas. Again, organization and efficiency is key here. Third, have fun! One thing in common with Satisfactory and Minecraft is that there really is no wrong way to play, so do it how you want and have fun with experimenting and learning! Satisfactory is truly about the process of getting somewhere and not just getting there. After all, its all about automation and building, which can take real time hours to do, so if you do stay in the game, you'll have plenty of content for your channel and plenty of playability in your save as well!
Wow. That's a lot to take in. I'll try to remember a much as I can, but so far, I'm not too crazy overwhelmed. (Cough cough, ARK. Cough cough.) So I'll keep at it. Thank you for the tips, I will definitely refer back to this.
@@nerdenoughfortwo I'm taking a break from Satisfactory (until the next big release) and I'm playing ARK. Satisfactory pisses all over ARK when it comes to content and playability. You can actually make great big buildings in Satisfactory without worrying about which vague snap-point you'll be working with. You need mods in ARK in order to actually build things efficiently. A 6yr old game and they've still not fixed the basic components of the game.
@redceltnet Holy cow, I thought Satisfactory was overwhelming?! I tried playing ARK once, a couple years ago and man, they REALLY need a tutorial.....Wait a sec....More content?! Hahaha. But yeah, I've heard that ARK is a little awkward with building. I like Valheim's system of building.
Yeah, it's not a survival game. When ever you die you will respawn at your hub. Resource nodes are endless, they never run dry so there is no need to restart the game ever. Whenever you dismantle buildings or machines you get back everything, so relax and enjoy the game. This game can also be played in multiplayer mode (though it is more buggy) but I recommend you play for yourself for a while to get a feeling for the game. This game is not really complicated, I watched a ten year old learning it quite quickly, but it is very complex. Not complicated meaning you don't have to be smart to play this game, simple math is enough, complex meaning you will get a lot more stuff to produce (like your iron plates) and machines to produce them, so in the long run you have to be organized to succeed. And most importantly relax, this game had been voted second (?) of the most relaxing games in steam the first year it appeared on steam ;-)

Have fun with it. We all do. Efficiency is the goal but not the path, build, tare down, rebuild better. Please, just read what is on the screen. Watching you hop around trying to build the hub when it says on the screen to push Q. Take a sec, breath, and look at the whole screen. End of rant.
Hahahahahaha! YES! English is rough, man. (And also in my defense, I mention in my podracing gameplays that when I record and stream, I lose about 50% brain power for some reason. Talking to an audience AND playing is a very, surprisingly different gameplay experience.)
Your graphics settings are super low. Even if you have a seven year old i7 laptop, you can still play on maxed out settings. I'm not sure how or why. Think it has something to do with Unreal Engine 5.
Man you are missing out big time on the graphics this game has to offer. If your computer can handle it, definitely increase the quality of the textures as close to ultra as you can get.
Yes! I hit that topic in the next episode. The gameplay is okay with Ultra on my end, but I'll have to double check the recording software. Man, Ultra would be awesome.
Some more jokes would be good! "Ah! Look at that fart cloud over there! **Zooms in to fart cloud** **Insert fart noise**". "My cheeks clenched so hard when that boar attacked me!" Something to that effect.
This was hard to watch. Where the hell are your textures dude? The game is gorgeous, and you are playing on 480p. I think you should stick to simpler games.
Yeah, I started on low graphics just in case and each episode I bump it up a little to see if the recording software stutters. Today I just went full send, and now it's all on ultra! 😅

A couple of tips to get you started:
Ooooooo! Automation does sound nice, so I'm not running back and forth. 😅 Any idea how to get my mobile drills to automatically drop off resources?
@@nerdenoughfortwo Just follow through the tutorials and the hub unlocks, you'll get full miner buildings eventually and then won't need to worry about the portable miners except as materials.
For years, I've been obsessed with this game and that include watching youtuber trying it for the 1st time.
But here i cannot watch because of the horrible graphic setting :(
IMHO this game is a triple class graphic masterpiece and a big part of the fun is to "watch and admire" the environment / machine / factories...
I generally consider myself a casual gamer and I found Satisfactory so addictive that I racked up 700+ hours of play time throughout all the updates since the first release of Early Access, which is a lot for me! It's very much like Minecraft in the sense that there isn't a "wrong" way to play the game. That said, I have a few tips and pointers for you that may or may not help you make progress faster and enjoy the game more:
- take some time to tweak graphics settings!
I was almost yelling at my computer because you were blatantly ignoring the message to press "Q" to open the build interface lol
- in the crafting bench interface you can click and hold the yellow button if you only need a few items or you can press the spacebar once for continuous crafting and once more to stop. you can also select a different recipe to stop crafting, as you've demonstrated yourself.
Heres a tip, if you press space bar as you found out it will auto craft but if you hold down the button with mouse or hold space it will also craft.
Awesome! Good to know, thank you!
I'm pretty late to the video, and others have done well with explaining things, but as someone with over 270 hours sunk into the game, I'll leave my bit of info too :)
Firstly, Satisfactory is all about three words: Augmentation, Automation and Exploitation.
@@nerdenoughfortwo No problem! I'm happy to answer any questions you may have as well!
6:47 you might have figured this out at some point, but you should have gone to the left 3
Hahaha. Yeeaaahhh. It took me a while to get the game and making things more efficient.
Dang, Good to know! Resource nodes don't run out. Didn't know that. Thank you! Glad to hear it can be a relaxing fun game. I'll definitely keep going!
No offense but i started watching and i am wondering on what type of computer do you play?
The graphics in this game are fantastic normally :D
I don't know the specs. I'm slowly bumping it up each episode. Next one is ultra. (Hope it doesn't stutter.)
@@nerdenoughfortwo i use a pretty old machine with an GTX1080 and i have the graphics on max settings...runs absolutely fine. I would suggest you start with ultra and then if it doesnt run well turn it down instead of starting with lowest settings on 640x480p :D :P
Uhm are the abysmal quality settings intentional?
You should turn them up to a level where you at least can recognize textures...
Makes life easier.
I mean if your PC is a potato that's fine and sorta tough luck but otherwise your missing a lot of all the little fun details to discover.
Hahahahaha! I'd say my computer is a good, golden Russet potato. But yes, still a potato. Hahaha. I'll try to tweak the settings.
@@nerdenoughfortwo Hey potato's are still tasty.
Mind sharing specs?
But you should know that this game has the tendency to roast almost any hardware later on when a lot is happening.
So your mileage may vary before it becomes unplayable.
Anyway hf and pet the lizard doggos 😉
I'm sorry but this was painful to watch, you really need to read the instructions, the game is so well designed at the start, if you follow the help it's providing...
Yeah, I get distracted suuuuper easily and man, I miss the biggest things. 😆 But don't worry! I learn!
It's an awesome game, has a lot of depth to it. So far you've just barley scratched the surface...
And it's already getting more exciting.
Turn the graphics up! This game is beautiful.
It's on high, I'll try ultra next video!
at 7:35 i saw the iron was bad graphics
Yeah, I'll have to see if my potato can handle higher graphics. 😅
ty for responding
7:59 you have negative graphics setting lol. It’s so bad looking. Looks way better with max settings
Hahaha. Yeah, my computer is a 10 year old Laptop potato. 😆
So painful 😖... So painful to watch 😩.
"How do i build"
*To build press Q*
Right there 😩... It was right there 😩😩😩
I know! You should see how many people were shouting at me to READ THE SCREEN! Hahahaha. 😅
Try it on ULTRA
Yeah, I'll do that.
Hahaha. Yeah, I think I was just overwhelmed and rushing ahead of myself. I'll try to slow down. Good advice, thanks!
Reading stuff helps! 😂
Hahaha. Yeeaaahhhh. Kinda rushed ahead a few times there. 😅
@@nerdenoughfortwo Just wait until the MATH starts.
@johngallagher1905 Oh gosh. Glad I'm going back to school soon. 😅
Reading is hard...
Hahahahahaha! YES! English is rough, man. (And also in my defense, I mention in my podracing gameplays that when I record and stream, I lose about 50% brain power for some reason. Talking to an audience AND playing is a very, surprisingly different gameplay experience.)
Please up you're pc to ultra or high if you can 😅
Yeah, it seems like a veautiful game. Let's boost this potato!
Your graphics settings are super low. Even if you have a seven year old i7 laptop, you can still play on maxed out settings. I'm not sure how or why. Think it has something to do with Unreal Engine 5.
Oh, interesting. I didn't know that.
Hahahaha. And of course, as all good jokes, it has to be about farts. 😆😆😆
Nah, I much prefer genuine reactions to forced jokes.
Wow, your graphics settings are below minimum.
Hahahaha! I know! It's so bad!
if you like this kind of game I'm sorry for you you will lose your personal life and all social relationships
Hahahaha. Yeah, I've heard some people have like, 700+ hours into it.
No offense but if you have a hard time learning how to use the crafting bench i dont think this game is for you.
Hahahaha, no yeah, you should've seen me trying to learn how the chainsaw worked! Hahahaha!
Pres q
Yeah, took me a bit to get used to the key bindings. 😅
