      That's right! How sweet it is to no longer be on the side of the loosing team griping about refs costing us games (too many in Chiefs history to count), and now we have the QB that can overcome adversity and scrap the win out. Championship teams find ways to win! Championship performance by PMII even if he didn't have a Madden one, credit to 49ers D.

      He only meant that things started going there way at the opportune time. It’s not like they suddenly figured the Niners out. The defense allowed 1 big play all game, the P.I. call gave them the ball on the one yard line. That’s called a game breaking your way . Also, the forty Niners knew that a first down iced the game. Once he got the first, they gave up because all Williams had to do was fall down and they run out the clock. Enjoy the win, congrats, but the game was closer than the score indicated.

    • @dookishooz
      @dookishooz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That whole play was made possible BECAUSE of the way the refs were treating holding calls all game. (on both teams)
      They clearly decided to lean towards keeping flags in their pockets and that resulted in more and more flagrant holds happening.
      Watch the game over and see the progression of offensive holding. On that very play, Bosa beat Fisher inside, so Fisher held him with his whole arm across Bosa's chest, giving Mahomes that extra couple seconds he needed to let the play develope.
      I agree that was the tide changer, but it should have been called back by the standards of ANY game this season.
      You can't expect a defense to dominate all year running a 4 man rush because holding calls were enforced a certain way, then change the standard entirely (for both teams) in the super bowl. This is why everyone hates the officiating in the NFL: lack of consistency.

      @dookishooz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the PI's were legit, the breaks the Chiefs got were the no calls on offsides that allowed them to chase Jimmy G out for 3 yards on 3rd and 14 and the fact that no holding calls were made all game also cut in the chiefs favor because of the way the 49ers defense is built around the pass rush. Thos are actual breaks.

    • @Caser_Racer
      @Caser_Racer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@dookishooz I watched a close up yesterday of the "But Kpassagnon was offsides!" play, and upon further review, it's actually a false start by the right guard #68 Mike Person. Plain as day. So in that instance, the no-call actually benefits SF... luckily the play was busted up anyway.
      As for the lack of holding calls, I don't think you can just blindly claim that because a pass rush is so good, that the other side inevitably has no other choice but to illegally hold. The Chiefs O-line is one of the best in the league in sacks surrendered, and deserves credit for making time and creating passing/rushing lanes, just as much as the 49ers D deserves (absolutely deserved) credit for sacking #15 multiple times and throwing off his game for 3+ quarters despite the strong line.

    Listen...
    Being a lifelong football fan, although i do have a favorite team in the same division, can appreciate how special a player that Patrick Mahomes truly is. However, let's be honest with ourselves and what we saw!!
    We saw a Young QB in the Biggest game of his Life, and had a tough time with it. Missed throws that were, at times, terribly under thrown, including the long completion to Hill. Would argue that if Mahomes hits Hill in stride it could have been a touchdown, or close to it. His best toss of the night was the late completion to Watkins!! What a throw. His confidence showed on that play, where it had been missing most of the game. Clearly aiming his throws. Could see the difference in his throwing motion.
    Yes, he did hit Kelce for the touchdown, but give Kelce some credit for being Wide Open.
    The last points, of the 21 unanswered, came on a beautifully executed run play!!
    Having said all that, we are witnessing the development of one helluva QB/Player, whom i believe is going to take the position to amazing new heights!!
    Hoping he stays healthy!! And excited to see it!!
    Congratulations Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs, and especially to coach Andy Reid who finally got his well deserved Ring!!!

      Oneispi Spike Thx for mostly positive things about Mahomes. Your right about the slow starts. It’s been a trend. Maybe cause it’s his second year starting?.....or 3 significant injuries: ankle, knee, and often overlooked extremely bruised and swollen throwing hand? Realizing that these are men out there trying to kick the sh*t out of you, could get in your head. Maybe. Maybe Adrenalin. Would say hopefully that trend would diminish with experience. Now on to the 40 yard throw to Hill. When I saw that floater, I was thinking interception. Mahomes has been criticized by more than one on that throw. Folks have to realize that ball was thrown nearly 60 yards in the air, off his back foot, while having Buckner about to put the hurt on you. Don’t forget this was third and 15, and possibly the end of the game if not completed....”no pressure”. 😎

      Very True. Haha wouldn't want to get smashed by them either!!
      Am thinking the fact that he hurt his knee early in the season, and thankfully not as bad as it could have been, will help him in the long run. Seeing that he didn't need surgery and a whole year's rehab to get back, also having to miss games, perhaps that's like a huge lesson learned of what can be.
      Look some of the replies have a different take than mine, and that's Ok. Point i made about Biggest game and having a hard time, was just that, an observation of what i saw is all.
      Mahomes is not typically that off, and he has shown that against good defenses before. He us an amazing Young player. At 23 he has learned what it takes to win a season, a playoff game, now a Lamar Hunt and the Superbowl. Now as i see it, this kid makes it back it will be a whole other story!! Because he now has experienced the biggest game of his life and handled it, next time it won't be to big. It is not the worst thing in the world to say that a 23yr old had a tough time in a huge situation. Is a normal thing!!!
      Do think that he can now go ahead and truly blow minds since every Big Game can't be as big as his 1st Superbowl at 23.
      And as far as Rich Eisen...
      am a huge fan, just had a different take of it is all, just as some have a different take as i do.
      As far as 3rd and 15, a 40yrd throw off back foot is not an easy task at all, however, he has in the past made throws like that, and others in far tougher spots than we saw him in the other night. And all have been stunned by it, as i was and probably will be again!!!
      am not a Mahomes hater at all. On the contrary, aside from his abilities, i find his he carries himself quite refreshing..
      Patrick Mahomes keep enjoying the game and we'll keep enjoying You play!!!
      Just sayin

    No credit to the KC D for presenting Garoppolo with something he hadn't seen all year. You notice the mismatch between Kittle and Suggs, but who expected Suggs to be assigned Kittle 1-on-1? Coaches will be excoriated for giving up that mismatch if the play goes South, but it also meant that the guy they thought would be covering Kittle off the pre-snap look was converted into a blitzer, who had a better angle, because it was unexpected and they weren't ready for him. And that was why Jones was where HE was, to tip that pass at the line.
    As far as abandoning the run goes, it looked to me like SF was seizing the main chance, given what KC was doing and the people they had on the field. Pennel's a monster run-stuffer. Not the greatest pass rusher. But lo and behold, he's on Chris Jones heels to get the hurry/hit on Garoppolo after Jones forces him off his spot and off his timing.
    But I keep coming back around to how under-appreciated the D-Line rotation for KC was. Yes, for everything you take, you're giving something else up and that D wasn't perfect. But I think that by the 4th quarter, they knew the vulnerabilities and Garoppolo couldn't take advantage of things he couldn't see. Maybe just the flash of the jersey where a jersey wasn't expected in the progression, based on where the blitz was coming from. Ordinarily the QB should put the ball where the blitzer just came from, but in the early part of the play, there's this giant who's in the way enough to affect the throw, his eyes come off of that target, et voila.
    And I don't think Mahomes wasn't "himself." That's all the kid ever is. But first he had to up his tempo, because Bosa just gets there way quicker than the initial geometry suggests a human CAN get there. Then Mahomes was rushing a bit, trying to adjust to that tempo imposed by the '9er rush, but especially Bosa. And FINALLY, they just ran away from him or caught him going the wrong way. He took it out, so Mahomes took it in. He took it in and that allowed Mahomes to get out. He's still human, after all. All other QBs they faced didn't MAKE the play, on the rare occasions they got time and room. And credit to Reid, the O-Line and Travis, Anthony and Damien, for giving Mahomes more room, more time, just a teensy bit more often than San Fran was used to seeing.
    Then there's the Sammy Watkins-Percy Harvin effect. As KC's 3rd target, Watkins OWNED Sherman in 1-on-1, and there was nothing they could do about it. Just like Percy Harvin was one too many weapons for Denver to account for, when Seattle beat them in the SuperBowl. And speaking of contracts, Mahomes could KEEP Sammy in KC by asking for LESS. That's one of the things Brady did that allowed the Patriots dynasty to persist. He didn't take every nickel he could have and it made a huge difference. If Mahomes says "I want to keep these guys together," then all he has to do is put his money where his mouth is and Watkins and Jones and some other key guys all fit snugly under the cap.
