Fascinating stuff, Dave. Particularly the ejection after the cable failed.
DCS world has given me an entirely new fondness and appreciation for the Tomcat, it has such a presence and it's power and maneuverability belies it's size. It's control and systems idiosyncrasies have me believing it's that rarest of things, a machine with a soul. I adore flying it, particularly the campaign you collaborated with Reflected Simulations on. It's a masterpiece.
I'm not an American I am from the UK but I thank you for your service, I am humbled to see the experiences of your time in the military.

@Dave Bio Baranek No problem, sir. It's fascinating to hear your stories. The Tomcat in my opinion is the finest aircraft of it's time, it has such an aura about it, and you've got to love those Aim-54's haha.

Can't get a better presentation anywhere else. Just incredible information, and real life stories. Things that we who never get the chance to experience, (Flight Sim folks) love to know about. Thank you!

    Fascinating lecture Bio. Very informative.
I am a regional airline pilot. I wish I had pursued a career in the USN. I think I would have enjoyed it.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. My books give a good idea of the "negatives," such as sometimes working weekends and six-month or longer deployments, as well as the dangers. But for me Naval Aviation was worth it all. I felt very fortunate.

People scattering after an hour while this RIO is handing out first-hand information… Don’t get it! Which scientist would not be interested in learning something new?

Indeed. I am glued, I work with radar for a.... not small firm, and Bio's talks are fascinating.
