In this dark time it is wonderful to find that real brilliance exists among our people. Reverend Sirico reminds me of that. The combining of real Christianity with deeply understood historical perspective is unmatched. It is the essence of the founding fathers and their wisdom in forming this government and its Constitution.
Thanks be to God for Fr. Sirico who is like Fulton Sheen for the 21st century. I'm so grateful to the Acton Institute for Acton University where I first learned the importance of a correct philosophical anthropology as the foundation for studying politics, economics, history, philosophy, reality...
I hope Fr Sirico can keep getting the church right side up, especially on Social Justice. The Popes, via the Encyclicals, and the Bishops have served to confuse many Catholics on this most misunderstood concept of justice. In order to do good, we must oppose evil in all forms, including socialism.
hockeypuck999 If you don’t like socialism, I hope you never collect social security, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, public education, or any other services for the common good available in America. Obviously, you are an island unto yourself.
you are right about Fr. Sirico but wrong about the Popes..they were simply following God's word in the minor prophets, i.e. Joel, Amos, etc...it has been twisted to mean something non-Biblical...
Was worried just glancing at the title that this would be a cringe lecture... but this was so beautiful. I don't know it this was a sermon or a lecture...
Social Justice is another name for Social Engineering. God said don't be deceived. These are Humanists who defy The One and ONLY TRUE LIVING God. Rebellion means fist at God.
I occasionally encountered the sort of verbal misunderstanding embarrassment that the Reverend starts with when I was in Germany. I guess that the danger of cultural mismatch is perhaps even greater there. If I could take a word back, I think it would be "gay", as in "When I was young and gay." What we call "justice" is whatever legislators have declared to be right. But we often think that it is not right. Laws can seem to be unfair, and even if they are confirmed by courts or even highest courts, they may still seem unfair. They are enforced by the police powers, but these again are simply doing the bidding of elites who hold power. So even if we remove the term social, it still seems often a bit unfair. In a way justice is more a way of ordering and controlling society, not necessarily a statement of what is right.
08:05 Can somebody please tell me what word he is saying there? He gives a definition, but I can't figure out what word he's saying. Google want's to correct anything near it to platonism.
Very well spoken, and much needed message. But why does the video dip to black a few times skipping over his words? yuck! I feel as if we're missing something in those places. . . If he's just coughing or something, then please at least leave enough of that in the video to kill the mystery.
Fr. Sirico is a dissident who does not represent the authentic 2000 year old teachings of the Catholic or Orthodox Churches. One of the most appealing and yet difficult Gospel texts is where Jesus baldly says: “Go and sell all you have, and give it to the poor; then come and follow me.” This doesnt square with Sirico's motives.
the Pope took the phrase from the Book of Joel and other minor Prophets of the OT (so legit word), but the Jesuits have taken it to the Politically correct limits...
Tom Curtis Jesus isn't evil! Should Jews pay taxes, and Jesus ask for a coin and asked whose Image is on the coin, and the answer was a Roman Leader, so give to the Roman's what belongs to Rome. If carried futher, the people could have asked and whose image is on man? Jesus's reply, You are made in the image of God, so give to God what is Gods. God tells us who we are in him, and not anyone's place to tell God who he is for man. God has wrath just as he is loving, merciful, and full of grace. Thanks be to God. 🙏💕
Fulton Sheen would be rolling in his grave to hear such a horrendous inappropriate comparison. Fr. Robert Sirico barely even speaks about the Catholic faith, he is a political hack, a symptom of a Catholic Church in crisis that won't even discipline a priest who rarely says mass for people. Today, Sirico earns a six-figure salary as President of the Acton Institute, a 40-hour-a week job. His oratory "in formation" for 12 years, but has never received official recognition from the Oratorians.
Libertarianism is the new Communism. Individual choice and conscience are important - but taken to extreme, a focus on individual choice means that I can always dismiss my neighbors’ concerns because “they made their own choices and have to deal with the consequences”. Sirico is therefore a wolf in sheeps clothing more of a double agent than a genuine gentle wel-meaning catholic priest.
Bubba Bumpkin When you see and hear the Pope, Cardinals, Bishops, Laymen etc..., receive sodomy as a virtue, men and women marrying same sex, and abortion for late term babies, etc..., the Catholic Church has been lost and perverted. Some Catholics are moveing back to the original Church. According to Jesus he didn't come to start a religion, but to prepare His bride the Church for his return. People of all denominations, and tribe will receive the Kingdom of Heaven. Thanks be to God. 💕
This guy talked for nearly an hour and said little or nothing of any meaning. He used vague, pseudo-intellectual speech patterns with phrases like "justice is rooted in this intellectual tradition as treatment in accord with desert.... what do people deserve?" Then he never answers the question. He uses no real world data about the conditions that people endure in their daily life and how that relates to justice on a local, national and global level. He talks about "economic misunderstandings" and then just drones on without using any economic DATA at all. Like many "conservative" right wing apologists for the corporate state, he uses simplistic rhetoric and uses no real world data to backup his assertions. In addition he uses a style of speech that sounds intellectual, but is devoid of any meaningful content if you pay attention to his actual words.

Theological Anthropology, a solid one, is pretty helpful too
A veritable gem of faith, wisdom and enlightenment. First time I have the pleasure to listen to a Roman Catholic priest who is Liberal to the core.

God bless Father and his promoting of authentic economic freedom
Excellent presentation. Christian ecumenism at its best.
Was worried just glancing at the title that this would be a cringe lecture... but this was so beautiful. I don't know it this was a sermon or a lecture...
Well worth the time I took to watch this, thank you
His Italian grammar is wanting (the verb is amare, not amore), but his ideas are clear and logical.

Fr. Sirico is, as "Rich Homie Quan" would say: "My Nigga, My Nigga, My Nigga, My Nigga".
We need more Catholics like him.
KISS indeed!! "economy" of language is also good... Still,,, well appreciated.
@Albert B - the word is "Pleonasm". (And there's no apostrophe in "wants".)
Beware an ambiguous adjective placed before a virtuous noun.
Abby Sack Social justice?

"Paulie Walnuts " (Sopranos) Brother. Gotta love him

+Capt. Cutler I think it's "pleonasm"
Father Coughlin meets Ayn Rand???
Well done!
Bravo

What is social justice

have you done it yet? thought so...
...Whenever I hear the expression "Social Justice", I smell... Jesuits...

Always such fun when "christians" get up and argue, in effect, that Jesus was evil.

+randeje You can not convince a communist that their ideology has produced the most inhuman regimes in modern history.
randeje 😂😂😂 you’re a special kind of stupid aren’t you? Bravo !
