wow...He is so wise and full of knowledge and great understanding. I learned alot. I am always suspect of lots of churches who do so much for the homeless. We are so fragmented like he said, it's hard to do local, most people are transient and moving from here and there.

I'm so thankful there are institutions like Hillsdale College. Free thought in schools of higher learning are on a steep decline. Hillsdale College still values freedom of speech and thought.
It concerns me that schools like Hillsdale are outnumbered.
I'm hoping students from other schools will moderate their beliefs once they leave the schools of indoctrination and begin thinking for themselves.
Yes, that's a lot of hope.

An inheritor of Jesus Christ and Paul so naturally familiar with faith, hope and charity. It is the dangers of charity that is highlighted before an audience equally familiar with 'The Wealth of Nations'. One perhaps naive questioner is dubious, but not sufficient time to fully address that. Perhaps, if he would be perfect, he might sell all he owns, give the money to the poor and follow Jesus.

Btw even god and the ancient Israelites did not rely on private charity. Charity was enshrined in their law. Gods people should be all about making a government that enshrines welfare into law.
Where back then it was returning the coat to the debtor, today would be a housing as a right. Where back then it was forgiving all debts every 7 years, today would be student loans and medical loans debt forgiveness.
Where before it was commanded to not go through your fields twice or thrice or to not pick up the harvest that felled onto the floor, today would be food stamps.

You are a socialist (forced collectivism). Also your interpretation of the scriptures is defective.

    • @lessonstolivefor

Jake Bredthauer capitalism means forced theft of value of your labour. Which is worse? Forced collectivism or forced theft of labour?
In any case, the really important question is how is my reading of the Bible defective? What did I say that was wrong? Please support your answer with evidence from the Bible.

The scripture you refer, definitely must be other than certain people's notion of Godly two year olds love and hate capriciousness. Can't you see for one example out of COUNTLESS, that eternity of fire and bliss is not only metaphor but intentionally is masterminded for here and now METAPHORICAL implementation?

    • @teapot5530

What is it about Christianity that's not true? That the Creator is not personal? (if not, can I assume you also are not personal - a kind of bio-bot maybe?) That personhood, His and ours, is not a plural unity? (if not, can I assume you are something other than a plural unity - without a community of cells, or of biome, or of people?) That love is not the ultimate purpose and sustenance of the universe? (if not, can I assume love is not the purpose or sustenance of your life?) That the Creator did not allow free-will agents to inhabit His/Their universe with Him/Them? (if not, can I assume you have no free will, and therefore no agency? Some sort of puppet of the universe, perhaps?) That the Creator did not take responsibility for the free will of the agents He/ They made? (and the left, with their righteous culture of infinite blame / no forgiveness, has the answers?) That the Creator did not take on flesh and step into His universe? (and therefore there is no such thing as cause and effect, and this universe is a dream, unreal, not worth investing in, and you are deeply aware that everything you do is vain?)

Tea Pot - I think he’d say: Uh huh. That’s right.

    • @lessonstolivefor
      @lessonstolivefor 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Tea Pot the common cult of Christ to be untrue due to the fact that the entirety of the Bible is manipulated. The canonization of the Bible was an act of political power, and not a spiritual one.
      Idem with the Torah.
As a matter of fact, Elohim was brother of baal, married to asherath according to Canaanite mythology.
Basically, in the same way Protestants and catholics and Mormons and orthodox Christians are all sub-sects of Judaism, Judaism is a sub-sect of older religions.
All institutional religions have been corrupted by greedy men (and/or women) we need to have the ability to discern between the corruption and the holiness of the Word.
