Mallory Park Crashes/Highlights, Plum Pudding Races Boxing Day, 26/12/23

- One of the best Plum Pudding race days we've seen in terms of racing, with none of the heavy hitters of the past taking part to sweep up wins. Sadly there are no results listed as of this videos creation so I can't tell you just how close many of these were over the line! Both Bike and Saloon car races were very good to watch, even the usual much smaller sports car grid had something going on almost all race long. Shame about the slightly high attrition rate of race 2 for the saloons, no doubt helped by the return of wild full reverse grid that was scrapped years ago due to it causing a little too much chaos. Once again we find ourselves saying the same thing at the end of yet another car event that has produced some of the best racing all year: Why does Mallory Park find itself with TWO car racing events in 2024!?

One quick note:
There have been no results posted for this event. So i have not been able to highlight how close some of these finishes were but have added them in the video regardless. If you were one of these drivers/riders involved or have the results in your possession, do comment below just how close they were if you could!

I was there, apart from the incidents, one of the best club races I’ve seen in a while.
I was a little surprised to see the full reverse grid return for the 2nd saloon car race. There is a reaso why that changed to only a top 10 reverse grid in recent years...

Nice to catch up mate, think I was very lucky to get in before the masses arrived as Joe was telling us he was sat in a monster queue! Amazing racing from everyone I was shocked at how good it was even for Mallory shame theres no results as you say. And begs the question that you ask every year. Why aren't racers tripping over themselves to race here when its this good to watch👎
It did seem as if 2000 people all showed up at once and then no more came in at all! Almost as if it was packed and they'd said no more. As for that last question, same old story, different year...

I did the plumb pudding races a few years back in a Yell MG ZS 180 Saloon. Even though I ended up retiring from both races, it was a huge amount of fun. With no championships up for grabs everyone is there for pure fun. Sort of a race drivers christmas party!
Certainly does drag out the rare cars and really exhibits a lot of the fun that has sadly drained away from club Motorsport today as rising costs have meant that the vast majority of people taking part are those that take it perhaps a little too seriously. I seem to recall your attempt a few years ago, you tore about a 5ft long strip of ground up at the esses😂
@@PescaraProductions Yep - that was me. You have to admit I did it in style though. The vibrations after that where incredible. There was about 2 inches of mud stuck the the inside of the wheel, the caliper, and just about everything else under there!
@phoenixmotorsport647 I think I have a picture of it somewhere in the paddock with the entire front right assembly apart. Must have made your front right weight 3 times as much lol. Hopefully you can come back out for the 50th Anniversary one in 2025 I think it is😉
@@PescaraProductions Im recovering from a slight racing incedant that happend a few years back. Hopefully I will have a new car built sometime this year so hopefully I will be back to reclaim the longest divet ever record

Well if you're not you've at least got to be there for it the year after cos it's the 50th Anniversary of it. We should all try and be there for that one! If it lasts that long😅

if anyone wants to see the results of all races go to tsl timing you have to scroll down quite a long way to find them but its worth the effort. liked the way the ancient lotus 6 went up against modern machinery. only 2 car race meeting next year? thats rediculous. expect there are loads of club drivers who would love to race there.

Great action. Interesting to see the infield/paddock at Lake Esses now a popular place to spectate, I don't recall that from the past.
A lot has changed in recent years. It's very impressive that the owners continue to invest in the place when they get very few events each year to pay the bills! The new fence around Gerards is very welcome too
Soft ground must have saved that Audi at the start cos that sort of off usually puts people in the wall
I wanted to check out results/entry lists for this event but honestly? If i didnt check forums or TH-cam you wouldn't have even known it was on this year. Theres nothing out there.
This was probably the one event of the year that the circuits social media actually tried to push as well!
What causes the flames from the mazda?
Rotary engines use more fuel than usual, so that's probably what's being dumped out the back and set alight lol
That and the oil they add to the fuel to protect the apex seals!

You rarely find a dull one at Mallory that's the problem. Or one in general cos we barely see any car events at least😂. Get yourself to the May 18/19th one next year, that should be 'Interesting' with the amount of stuff that is supposed to be racing 🤔

Not for a very long time but funnily enough there has been some people asking about single seater races recently. I think everyone should get together for the 50th Anniversary of it in 2025 and do one. Maybe the sidecars can do the same?
Watching the racing this year at Mallory and the only car meeting I've missed this year there is the Vintage meeting. I suspect it's the runoff at Gerrads that may put the car clubs off as it's banked down hill causing cars to slide into the barrier very easily. Such a shame once again it's only got 3 meetings but at least the 750MC, CMMC & VSCC have remained loyal to the circuit.
I race with the CMMC and I love Mallory. It's my 2nd favourite circuit next to Brands GP. No real idea why more clubs don't come (if the dates are there) but it's their loss.
Thing is how many cars end up in there every year? 2 maybe 3? Compared to everywhere else that's miniscule. I know BRSCC's argument recently is crash related, yet every time I saw that club this year at either Cadwell or Donington, it made the average banger meeting look tame. You could write a book on the excuses though. Same old story every year. Big respect has to go to the VSCC for returning next year after losing driver here this year. Any other club would use that to jump ship and stay away. Mini 7 club doesn't race here today due to 2 crash prone meetings over 20 years ago!
@adematthewsracing when you consider its probably the second most attended track in the country for club events you've got to ask why any sponsor would sign up to be featured on any car in championships that don't get seen by spectators😂. The average Silverstone attendance for club events can be counted on ONE HAND
I assume its only the bikes that have to use the poxy chicanes--they completely spoil a great little circuit--at least the vintage and Classic clubs dont have to use Edwinas, but that Bus stop is crap.
Yeah unfortunately so. If you come off at edwinas or esses on a modern day 1000cc bike there is a fairly high chance of making a mess of yourself
@@PescaraProductions At a CRMC meeting in 2012 there were 12 crashes in one race at Edwinas, the next time they went without Edwinas, there was only one crash all weekend at the Esses, and that was an engine seixure on the way in.
