- Welcome to our in-depth Bible study, where we explore the critical topic of the Doctrine of Scripture. In this session, we delve into:
The Necessity of God's Revelation: Understanding how God, who transcends all, makes Himself known to humanity. We'll look at biblical passages like Psalm 97:9 and 113:4-6 to discuss God's exalted nature and His choice to reveal Himself to us.
Humanity's Need for Revelation:
Our Nature: As dependent creatures, we require divine revelation to know God, as illustrated in 1 Timothy 6:16 and Job 23:3-9.
Our State: Post-fall, our moral condition necessitates revelation for salvation, as mentioned in 2 Timothy 3:15 and Luke 19:10.
Types of Divine Revelation:
General Revelation: God's continuous communication through creation (Romans 1:19-20, Psalm 19:1).
Special Revelation: The specific, personal communication of God through His Son, His Word, and His chosen prophets and apostles (Hebrews 1:1-2, John 1:1, 14).
The Sufficiency and Effectiveness of Special Revelation: Scripture provides all we need for salvation, sanctification, and pleasing God (2 Timothy 3:15-17, John 15:3).
Challenges to Special Revelation: Addressing modern theological perspectives that deny scripture's verbal and inerrant nature, contrasting them with biblical affirmations (2 Peter 1:21, Hebrews 1:1-2).
Join us as we navigate these profound truths, enhancing our understanding and faith through the lens of scripture. Whether you're a new believer or a seasoned scholar, this study aims to deepen your appreciation for the Bible as God's special revelation.
