The only person I’d buy a sealed box from these days is a card/hobby shop that had had it since they ordered it from Konami/UDE years ago. You just can’t trust anyone these days with the ease with which people can reseal items. This wasn’t an issue when boxes were $200 but now that they’re all worth thousands, the risk of getting something re-sealed is real.
I feel like the best rule of thumb is if it looks too good/new, it’s probably re-sealed
Trust SimplySealed as well. But he charges premium so I doubt you’d ever cop an og box from him 😂
@@spontaksback trust no one. You don’t know where they got it from. Simply sealed is a friend of mine and I admire his work. But if he’s fooled by a reseal (maybe not likely but possible) then buying it from him doesn’t protect you. The lowest risk is from a card shop that hung onto it since it was released. Unfortunately that’s becoming difficult to find
@@TheOldSchoolExpert it’s virtually impossible to find a shop like that that also doesn’t know the true value. I have a hobby shop near me that has a 1st MRD sealed box, but the owner won’t let it go for less than $18k which is absurd. I trust simplysealed but I get your point. He’s the exception for me though I don’t have the liquid funds to buy what I want
I know imagine buying that box and five years from now selling it to someone. then they say hey!
*Agreed. Unless, the seller is in person, and is willing to accept payment once the box is opened and verified* (assuming the buyer is opening the box).
The problem I have with this type of scam is it’s so hard to tell who the scammer is, the auction house should be smarter and add security seals to the wrapping to protect themselves. Jose S could have opened this box and resealed it, then sent it to you to support his case for a return to the reputable consignment service. I’m not accusing only saying it’s possible. Real shame that this type of thing happens either way, big stain on the hobby.

That was my theory from the start. Like who would send someone a LOB box to check it out for them because they could take all of the goodies out then reseal it to send it to you.
@@thotslayer9922 it's a possibility, but when you think about it, it's unlikely. Assuming Jose had received a legitimate box from the start, why would the box be layered with only two empty first edition packs and the rest being random cardboard and garbage? Assuming that theory is correct, he'd have all of the original packs at his disposal. Why not use them?
This is everyone‘s fear when buying classic Yugioh booster boxes. I’ve only been buying singles so far but there are tempting times when I want to buy a booster box but I’m very hesitant..awesome video!!

I'm always afraid to buy something for that much cash. But who doesn't want to open LOB 1st box/packs. Maybe someday I'll get enough balls to buy a box. Until then. I'm here watching your vids!! Keep them coming

If you're buying through eBay you're covered as a buyer. Ebay will refund you if what you got wasnt what the seller advertised on the listing. I've bought various boxes off ebay and not had issues with it personally.
But you have no clue til you open it, so if you want to keep them sealed than you can’t ever be certain that they’re legit.
You can buy the Korean version it’s a lot cheaper

Pretty scary man. The seal was looking really good! And judging by the fact that there is 1st edition spell ruler and 1st edition lob packs in that box in assuming that same person is selling or has already sold those 1st edition boxes that those packs came from… someone might have those in their sealed collection rn and has no idea
A friend of my dad has two sealed Pharaohs servant boxes in his collection and is afraid to open them because they could be resealed. If they aren’t re-sealed then he probably has an ultra rare or secret rare Jinzo in one of those boxes. His sons have tried to open them many times but he just hid the boxes because they would ruin the value of they opened them.
Disgusting how people scam, hopefully Jose gets his money back.
Man you dish out thousands of dollars and you’re not even guaranteed a legit box, thats just crazy to me. When you have to examine the seal and even then you cant say for sure if its real or not, thats a level of stress I couldnt handle, but props to the people who do, it gives us the experience worry-free !
The sealed plastic seemed way too tight. The ones you showed usually have some wrinkles in them. Is that the way to confirm it?
Not always, it is hard for a reseal to not be tight. But legit ones can be as well
Seal was definitely too tight to where there wasn't any wrinkles on the bottom of the box and the seal line was just way too thin and amateur looking, like no old box seal line looks like that. Also could just press the box on the side so you can see how the top booster packs look without breaking the seal so you'd see that 1st edition and definitely know it's fake cause ain't no way that's some misprint box lol
And this is why card packs and boxes have special Konami "security" clingfilm and tape nowadays

I saw that listing on eBay, and it would be up for weeks. I started to get curious about pulling the trigger on it. Thank god I didn’t. I hope my guy gets his money back.

Stuff like this always scares me away from buying DM-era boxes. That sucks. Hopefully Jose’s successful in getting his money back; I can imagine this wasn’t a cheap buy 😢
Damn, scammers everywhere. I've been looking to buy some 1st Edition sealed boxes but can't seem to find any trusted sellers.
Even trusted sellers can't be trusted. Sometimes they're just as susceptible to these scams.

I didn’t see that bottom flap on the shrink wrap. That would have been my first red flag. 🤔

The seal looks good at the first glance, but damn this is messed up, hope jose got his money back and to whoever resealed this well what goes around comes around..
So many reseals actually attempt to keep it neat inside to keep the trick going but this is just crazy messy
Hmmm… I’ve only bought one unlimited LOB box about 8 years ago, from a trusted store… it was around 60 bucks, which was a weird price, but the box was very legit (pulled DM, red eyes, reborn and Gaia (secret).
I wish I knew these prices would be the rule now, but I was too young at the time to even think long term.
Btw, that pequeno moth is awesome.

You could see the front lip was worn looking all along that front piece, and the box had damage on the bottom too that can't happen when sealed without the seal being damaged or showing it. Hopefully he get's his money back.
I'm surprised how big collecting TCG nowadays means thousands, even millions of dollars in items. It became a huge and scary thing because of this kind of scams. Feels bad..

I feel sorry for the person who got scammed... i also have a question. I bought 8 IOC reprints from a seller on ebay who claims the packs are unweighed, and i pulled zero foils. Do you guys think they were actually weighed? Or was i unlucky? I’ve never opened 5 of the same pack without pulling a holo, let alone 8. I know the ratios are 1 in 6 for supers, 1 in 12 for ultras, and 1 in like 36 for Secrets, so i feel i should’ve pulled 1 holo at minimum, if not 2. It was a good price compared to others so i was originally gonna buy more til i pulled nothing. Any opinions would be appreciated

They spent so much time making the outside look scarily real, yet the contents on the inside were so carelessly chucked in. Upside down cards and tape all over the place. I've never been into sealed product much but dang, these scams are crazy. Some of them are absolutely terrible and obvious, but others are so real and freaky.
That is crazy how good that initial wrap was around it.

The seal looks pretty good, but I’ve noticed there’s usually some loose wrap on the bottom of most legit boxes. Then I saw the plastic come off and I knew it was a scam. What a shame 😕

Damn .. it's resealed after all ... Even from a big co-sign auction company. Now we know if you gonna but a sealed box you should: weigh, check seal, check wrapper, and open at least one pack to confirm authenticity

It's crazy how many scams there are. I almost got scammed from some metal raiders packs that you helped me figure out were fake and thank god I got my money back and didn't open it up.

Pretty good fakes like these are definitely something that’s very scary for buyers. Especially for sealed collectors that might not be as knowledgeable or don’t catch a small detail, since they will never know if they don’t catch anything upon evaluating it

The box is fake obviously. The wrapping had no wrinkles and not to mention, unlimited lob boxes are never that tight or packed up.

ahh mann! Ruxin you should have shaken the box a little; you wouldn't feel multiple packs moving a little but 2 blocks which would have been a sign of a reseal

those worn corners of the box are a dead give away, if they were that damaged the plastic wrap would be ripped

Wow this is one of the most messed up openings ever… who would do this type of thing, just horrible. I hope this guys gets his money back, really horrible. I hope you give him the un-edited footage of it start to finish, unfortunately there is no way for those people to tell if this was indeed the box that he bought from the auction site.
Appalling to see someone sells this to someone else... I mean its one thing when they just take out the heavy packs and replace them, but to just put random cards into open packs and tape random other card to pack it out (at least the former go to the effort of resealing the individual packs). Hate to see it :D
Edit: I wonder how they think they can get away with something like this? as long as you take a picture of the listing, where is clearly shows that it is listed as new & sealed, and you record opening it and finding this, then if you open a dispute with Ebay, the seller is going to have to issue a refund.

I have opened 15 lob boxes and only just pulled my first tri horned dragon. I have now got everything in the set in multiples. But only ever pulled one blue eyes

I already know this, because the wrapped box has no logo from Konami. You have to be careful when buying
I really wish I was more interested in Yu-Gi-Oh when I was a kid. I had cards, but I never bought boosters actively.
I'm sure there is always a chance of a scam, but you just have to check the boxes that might trigger your radar. I've spent thousands on individual toy collectables and have always felt uneasy, but haven't been scammed yet.
