Thank you Monique! I was a backer, and got my copy. I needed a little bit of a reminder about the game, and remembered your video. Great job 👏! My wife and I are really excited to play.
Awesome, glad I could help! Just keep in mind that these were the rules according to the prototype so things may have changed a little bit. Hopefully this video will make the rulebook easier to get through though. Enjoy!!
@@BeforeYouPlay the rules are a little bit different, but not much. With a two player game, the second player gets an additional card. They also added some things you can do with insects, such as moving your opponents Mother mushroom, trading in your mushroom cards, or clearing the display cards in the market. I don’t think you mentioned, if you place your mother mushroom on someone else’s fruited mushroom they cannot produce spores or decay that mushroom. It looks pretty cool 😎
Thank you for the video! I'm the friend circle's resident teacher and after learning that a friend got Mycelia hoping to play, I mistakenly learned the _other_ game called Mycelia. This rescued me < 3 y'all really are the besterestist teaching channel
Excellent job explaining and showing how the game works, while also touching on the dynamics of playing against others. If I had one suggestion, it would be to consider adding some small breaks between sections just to give some breathing room during the 11-minute talk.
Thanks, new to the channel (and its affiliates) and love the sheer variety of games, concepts, amazing art (and miniatures). I've only gamed a handful of times in the last decade but when Return to Dark Tower launched a few years ago, that might've been my gateway into more regular gaming, but certainly an intensely renewed interest in the industry and potential fun. Watched your Dune Imperium playthrough and enjoyed that also.
@@BeforeYouPlay my oldest friends who are Fantasy / Sci-fi nuts (as am I, they just game a ton more) still play their original Cosmic Encounter (I believe they began with the 1986 edition and still use that game/box etc) and there were two games whose names I regrettably forget that we played during a reunion a few months ago. I will try and get those names because they were wildly different and very interesting (and both were relatively short; one we played on a pontoon as it was kind of travel edition of that game; will get back to you on those).
@@BeforeYouPlay Got answers from my friends; so we played 7 Wonders (resource building game where players are active at the same time, then pass cards/resources to the right or left and their scores are dependent upon what they do as well as what adjacent players to left (I think) have built. Bad explanation. You probably are well aware of the game. The other game was Azul Basic version, which was easy to pick up quickly, and also seemed great to play not only ON trips but WHILE traveling.
Interesting game. My family used to pick wild mushrooms in the early spring, and it was a fond memory, so a game about mushrooms just adds to those memories.
I’d love to see you two do a play of this one (or maybe 3 with Michael). Art looks incredible, and and the strategy isn’t so straightforward, at least not just from this preview.
How does the font size compare to the font size in Wingspan? The decay wording looks especially small on the video and the icon on the bottom right looks small too.
I'd love to know, if you've had the experience to play it, the comparison between this and Mycology, both on Kickstarter and dealing primarily with fungi. 🍄
Has a lot of similarities with Photosynthesis. But also has a good amount of differences, not just in the theme. Looks nice, something to maybe watch for later in retail or maybe with an expansion on the future.
Game looks awesome! Mushrooms are so cool, and nature-inspired games are always aesthetically-pleasing. Definitely not worth the $50 estimated price, though.
Thanks for checking out the video. The designer also did the art for the game! I would imagine they need to price in a margin of safety. Split Stone Games is a new publisher (1st game). Hope that makes sense 🙂.
I feel like the Explore action is definitely the worst one. You’re growing the board for everyone at the expense of an action and you don’t even get to pick which color tile. Why would I ever take that action? I’ll just wait for someone else to do it.
Great video, thanks. I just got my copy of Mycelia and I'm looking forward to playing.
Have fun!

Hi there! So glad you’ve been getting into games more recently. Any gems you’d recommend?

I immediately backed after watching this. Looks really good
The game design looks really beautiful. I'm gonna keep an eye on it for when it comes out
Thanks for watching our video!

Woah that’s cool!
This one looks pretty cool, beautiful artwork. Would love to see a playthrough of it! Thanks for sharing it, Monique. 🙂
Now i will know which fungi won’t turn me to a zombie
Haha, can never be too sure! ☠️

Clear explanation--thank you!
Looks nice. I will probably get it. Thanks for the video.
The art direction on this game is really impressive. I'm definitely going to look into it!
We need a playthrough 😢
I'm curious to see how this will compare to AEG's Under Grove which is going to be all about mushrooms too.

I was hoping the cards behind the boards would do something more. Making the placement a bit more strategic! Thanks for the preview!
new mic? sounds good
Yeah, we changed up our audio setup a few months ago and have been really pleased with it!
How did it compare to Undergrove? Which one did you prefer?
Beautiful game...nice review...love the cards...oh no! here i go again

So then no one will do that, and?
My wife grows mushrooms for food. I am intrigued
That’s so cool!! We’d love to do that

👋 I was at work when Monique filmed this one. 😩
