With the Infinity Saga finished, fans have their eyes set on the next Marvel Cinematic Universe saga. There are many stories and characters Marvel Studios could use in the next three phases, but one villain that stands out is Galactus.
The Devourer of Worlds is a unique villain. While, on paper, he sounds like just a generic bad guy who eats planets, Galactus is so much more than that. His backstory is very interesting and his motivations are compelling and very different from most Marvel villains.
In this video, we’ll explore Galactus’ history and story in the comics, and try to brainstorm to find the best ideas that will work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
We believe that the next three phases will slowly introduce The Devourer of Worlds, with cosmic movies such as Thor: Love and Thunder, Captain Marvel 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hinting at Galactus’ threat.
But we think that we might see the world eater sooner and it might happen in the 2020 Eternals movie.
That film will explore the history of the universe and tell a story that takes place thousands of years ago, with the Eternals facing the cosmic gods, known as the Celestials.
We believe that Galactus will have a connection to the Celestials. Not only that, we think that the Infinity Stones will come into play and explain Galactus’ motivations as a force of cosmic balance in the universe.

If marvel gets through another 10 years of phases and it’s as good as the infinity saga. Then Marvel will have officially won the cinematic world.
I believe they already have.. they have the highest pull of any other cinematic universe.. but yeah if they can do it again.. that would be.. insane.
They have the resources to make it work. Disney also had the resources with Star Wars, but the first thing they did was make Lucasfilm toss it all out the window by declaring the EU non-canon. Marvel wont let Disney make the same mistakes with their franchises... Hopefully
@DA I'm not wrong, youre just ignorant. Disney didnt declare the Marvel Comic universe non-canon like they did the Star Wars EU, they just decided to keep it to the side so they can pick and choose what stories and characters they want to integrate into their movies. This is especially true when you consider the fact that there are innumerable different comic universes within Marvel Canon.

Galactus sounds like a being that is forced to survive by killing. He is probably gonna be one of the best MCU villains because he has good in him, but has to commit atrocities to live on and do good.
Infinity War Thanos had good intentions for his plan as well when it comes to ensuring survival of planets and life, doesnt make it any less controversial much like galactus.
Endgame Thanos was 100% a baddie. Dude hadnt matured or gotten through all of the tactical chess like play compared to his future self, nor had he understood the gravity of collecting all the stones, he just wanted to destroy everything so his plan couldn’t be undone
Galactus is not a villain. He’s an obstacle. He has no agenda, no malice, no intent to cause harm to anyone. He simply is. Sometimes his actions are dangerous to sentient life, sometimes they’re helpful.

That’s what makes him compelling as an antagonist. He’s not destroying worlds for some malevolent purpose, he’s doing it out of the necessity to maintain the natural balance.

Stan Lee didn't create anything alone. Jack Kirby was the co-creator who never got any credit. That's why he left marvel and created Darkseid for DC.

Meanwhile greater marvel stories are played out on tv - like Legion for example. Now that's an interesting bad guy. All powerful - like a reality bending God, but so powerful that he can't see that his power is creating a basically the end of the world and turning him into the bad guy and he has every hint in the world and is so powerful but just can't seem to alter his eventual fate so instead he sort of embraces it in order to change it, That's compelling shit.

Yes and the universe Galactus is from was destroyed at the same time the big bang happened. The theory is the destruction of said universe culminated in the birth of a new universe and the energy from it was used to make the infinity stones.

There's a difference though, Thanos was using the stones, which were not his power, and hence during majority of his fights, he had to make extra efforts to use them.
Galactus, on his own, is much stronger than the likes of Odin, Dormammu, surtur, etc.

Correct. Classic Dr. Strange is one of the beings that Galactus fears and respects (in some way). The only reason Dr. Strange nowadays are so incapable of deafeating opponents through firepower is because he had been nerfed countless times. 1st by the Vishanti themselves where he draws most of his power. 2nd his fear to control and consequences of using dark magic. 3rd when all of the magic in the reality of earth 616 was destroyed. 4th when marvel imposed the stupid concept that payment must be made everytime magic is used.
I can see Galactus being built up like Thanos was, then the Celestials rising to power, forcing the Avengers and Galactus to team up against them.

In the movie Thanos said he reduced them to atoms. By theory they're still present in their universe, just in atom-sized pieces meaning their timeline is still okay.
With the avengers, a lot of what we’ve seen so far has been pretty close up combat. I doubt somebody punching Galactus would do a lot of damage😅

Thanos' motives:
People are gonna die from overpopulation, therefore he kills half of them.
All because he saw that happen on his planet, and therefore it's definitely gonna happen on every other planet in the universe.
Loki's motives:
Usually just personal gain. Through Thor he wants to be Odin's favourite son.
Through Avengers Assemble he wants Earth to be his.
Through Thor: Dark World he's faking his death so he can kick Odin out of Asgard and take over.
Through Thor: Ragnarok he's REPEATEDLY choosing the Grandmaster and a life of Luxury over Thor, until he realizes the Grandmaster is screwed. At which point he's got a chance to be seen as a hero, which he takes. And he also steals the Tesseract, despite knowing Thanos wants it.
By Infinity War... Suddenly he's willing to put his life on the line to save Thor? To no personal gain? Even though they did NO bonding in Ragnarok? Loki was literally willing to leave Thor to the Grandmaster's mercy in Ragnarok.

His father- The Black Panther's own brother- Was killed by the Black Panther.
He spends his life waiting for his chance, fighting and training, until he finds a chance to enter Wakanda, and he kills Wakanda's greatest enemy in the process.
He fights the current Black Panther- his cousin- in traditional ritual combat for the throne.
He wins.
His first actual order?
He wants to help the third world countries. Stop slavery by giving those being treated as slaves a method of defending themself.
His plans were all solid, strong plans, with good intentions, but his mind was clouded by revenge, so he went about it in a rather violent method.

Dude, this guys dosen't care about story, only for tge coolest thing possible. For example: They suggested that Banner could become Maestro and destroy everything, even througth putting the Hulk as a threat wouldn't work with his arc of Hulk and Banner uniting to be a force of good because it would make the Hulk a threat again and wpuld render it to a moot point. Besides, these guys want a live-action Dragon Ball film to be based on the Saiyan Saga because it has more action, but what about the character arcs, the emotion, the heart, and the fact that audiences unfamiliar with the source material may not really get what the heck is going on, nor simpatize with Goku if they meet him at that point.

Phase 5 is like the phase 1 of the infinity saga. Phase 4 is the transition from infinity saga into the new chapter. Phase 5 top Villain will probably charming and charismatic Villain like Loki instead of absolute force of nature like Galactus. Maybe Dr. Doom. I expect to see Galactus in phase 6

Seeing the current state of the MCU, I always come back to videos like these when we still had the MCU hype even after Endgame. I really wanted Galactus as the next big villain.
He will never be a villain in the MCU. He’s literally not a villain. He’s something to fear, for sure, but I just can’t see him ever translating well to the screen unless they make a Silver Surfer movie, as a part of Surfer’s story.
And even then, Galactus is not a very complex character. Devouring planets for survival is his only motivation. He can exist as an entity, ala Dormammuu, but people thinking he’s going to be a big bad antagonist are mistaken.

He has no ulterior motive, unlike thanos. He simply does what he does so he can survive and fighting him would be kinda anti climactic

He's an eternal servant to Eternity, the personification of time/temporal aspect of the Multiverse.
Mirroring the fate of his own herald, the Silver Surfer, Galactus would commit atrocious acts on behalf of the higher power of existence and to ensure creation itself won't go out of control.
And while Galactus has all the justification and authority to do everything he has been and will be doing because of the approval by the higher gods, he's not without humanity and compassion. He does care about life, and he only targeted the planets life dwelled on. If all the sentient beings evacuated the said planets, he would allow it.
He's a god of destruction with a heart, because he was once a mortal, and even after millions of years serving the greater cosmic good, his worldview developed during his mortal state still continues to challenge him from time to time.
This is a stark contrast to the Celestials, the gods of creations.
Celestials created possibly all lifeforms and planets in the multiverse (The MCU may change that), but being the creator gods of all things doesn't gain them the compassion for mortals or the lesser gods.
In fact, Celestials routinely committed genocide out of arbitrary reasons like "not meeting our godly standard" or even out of spite. And when the Celestials do "care" about their creations, their methods are often immoral.
Take Apocalypse for example: one of the biggest threat to humanity, a mutant supervillain, and an extreme social Darwinist. He is, in fact, serving the Celestials as their agent on Earth.
Apocalypse can kill as many people as he wants as long as he can effectively guide mankind's evolution path.
If there's a "good" Celestials that wants humanity to prosper, it wouldn't hesitate to elect someone like Hitler, Genghis Kahn, or Kim Jung-Un if he/she can ensure humanity's continued existence.
Galactus, however, won't go that far.

Nice way of thinking for a plot for future mcu movie... this plot can also be used to revive tony stark, black widow and gamora since like you said galactus has the power to revive the dead. Reuniting the full-on avengers and guardian of the galaxy in the movie will be so epic with this.

I suggest they defeat Galactus early on. The Multiverse will start to break apart and thus Multiverse of Madness will have a huge part in the plot line.
Yknow what would be cool: if they had end credit scenes all hinting at Galactus. One example I thought of was is when Galactus starts to get close to Earth, he destroys Muspellheim and Surtur. We never got to see what happened to him after Ragnarok. I think it would be a fitting ending to Surtur and a great way to show how powerful Galactus is by destroying a fire planet and killing its king, who btw destroyed all of Asgard.
