- Canadian Gov. Gen. Julie Payette is resigning, sources tell Global News.
The decision comes following the completion of a high-profile review into allegations of a "toxic" workplace at Rideau Hall, which sources say painted a "scathing" portrait of the Queen's representative. Sources told Global News the results offered a stark choice to Payette: either step down or face removal. Payette has denied the allegations against her.
The Privy Council Office hired Quintet Consulting Corporation in the fall to conduct the review after a series of allegations made against Payette by current and former staffers to several media organizations. CBC first reported accounts by employees at Rideau Hall that Payette had yelled and publicly humiliated staff members.
Payette, a former astronaut, was appointed in 2017 in a process that has repeatedly faced scrutiny over whether she was appropriately vetted before being named to the prestigious post.

Happy she’s leaving - I worked in an environment where the CEO created a toxic environment that negatively affected a number of individuals. She was eventually asked to leave. Everyone deserves respect in the workplace!

CBC this kind of abuse is happening everyday in the workplace. I myself have been abused . I complained to my superiors and they ignored me. It only took a high-profile case to bring this issue into the light.
Now she leaves with a full pension, medical and dental insurance and a golden $$ handshake.

I have been working as an IT contractor for 15+ years, reporting to female bosses has generally been the worst experience. They are too back-stabby and covert vs men who are more direct. Any workplace where women outnumber men in senior positions gets toxic so fast that it becomes time to bail and find another job. Don't believe me?
